  1. Azur Lane FAQ and stupid questions guide
  2.
  3. Q. Can I use an emulator?
  4. A. Yes. Both memu and nox work. Others probably do too, but who the fuck would willingly want to use bluestacks?
  5.
  6. Q. What's the difference between servers?
  7. A. These are the primary differences on JP server compared to CN:
  8. - Unit level is capped at 70, rising by 10 for every Limit Break
  9. - Unit drop rate for Rares is 1/10 of what it is in CN and appears to be generally lower across the board(not directly confirmed)
  10. - Unit stat upgrade costs have increased significantly in BBs, BCs and CVs
  11. - More plates needed for gold equipment upgrades
  12. - Chinese boats have Japanese VA
  13. - Uncensored character CG
  14. - Delayed event release
  15. - Delayed ship, ship remodel and equipment release (usually tied to those events, but not necessarily)
  16.
  17. Q. How do I sign up/register for the game?
  18. A. For ching chong version, go here: https://azurlane.koumakan.jp/Getting_Started
  19. For JP: Download the app off the google play store you mong.
  20.
  21. Q. I don't see AL in the google play store?
  22. A. It's region locked to glorious Nippon and good ole' USA, the land of the free. For anywhere else you can use quooapp or apkpure. I'm not helping past that because I'm spoonfeeding this guide already, if you can't get the shit installed working that's on you. Just think of it as a barrier of entry. If you really wanted to waifu, you'll be able to figure it out.
  23. (Realistically the problems are too niche/varied and I really can't be fucked playing tech support when it works perfectly on my machine :^) )
  24.
  25. Q.I want to be a meta fag, who's the best starter?
  26. A. On CN it's z23, on JP it's Ayanami.
  27.
  28. Q. Who do I reroll for?
  29. A. Hold up you shitlord. Rerolling is more or less completely fucking pointless. This is a collection game, and a ridiculously generous one at that. Unless you're coming in during an incredbily generous promotion period where you get a shitton of everything in the mail, there just isn't a point to wasting the time rerolling because you're going to end up getting everything eventually anyway.
  30. Beyond that, majority of what you should be using is going to be R or SR anyway, with the main SSR's of interest being drop only.
  31.
  32. Q. Help, I can't beat <level>, what should I do?
  33. A. Grind. Drop to a lower level map and just throw your fucking botes at a wall on it.
  34. I'd suggest 1-4 since rammer blueprints drop on it, 2-2 because Brooklyn and Arizona drop on it and 2-4 just because it's ez and is a higher XP payout/battle than the other two.
  35.
  36. Q. What fleet composition should I be using?
  37. A. There isn't a definitive answer. You can do just about fucking anything. CLx3, DDx3, both of those can work if you do shit properly. Even CAx3 works, I just wouldn't personally recommend it due to reload timers.
  38. But to answer the question, the most common setups for the frontline tend to be CA+DD+CL, CLx2+DD or CA+CLx2.
  39. For the backline it's pretty much whatever the fuck you want. My suggestion however is to run only two backline unless you for definite sure fucking need it. But realistically, unless you're underlevelled, running event maps or setting up a boss fleet for late-game story missions(map 8-4+), you do not need more than two backline for anything and can even be more than fine with only a single backline ship.
  40.
  41. Q. Does ship order matter?
  42. A. Yes. Yes it does. For the frontline, the leftmost ship is the ship that will be taking the most damage. The rightmost ship is the one that will be taking the second most damage. The one in the safe little middle pocket will be taking the least amount of damage. Plan your shit around knowing that.
  43. The ordering doesn't matter as much for the backline, but keep in mind the center back ship is your flagship. If they get downed you instantly lose the battle, so you don't want to put some weak ass ship there.
  44. Bonus note: Even when sortied, you can change your ships fleet ordering. In the pre-battle screen after coming in contact with a node, simply drag your ships around like you would in the fleet menu.
  45.
  46. Q. What's affection?
  47. A. Affection is how much a bote wants the shikikan D. Real answer though, once you get to 90 affection a ship will receive a +3% bonus to her stats. Once at 100 affection, she will have a +6% bonus, and she will then become ringable. Post-marriage, she will have a 9% bonus to stats and raises the affection cap to 200 - which, once you hit 200 affection, she gets a full total of +12% bonus to stats.
  48.
  49. Q. How does one get affection?
  50. A. Several ways. You can make them your secretary, and she will gain 1 affection every 6 hours, until she hits 90 affection(in which case she will gain no more from secretary), you can put her in your back yard and she will proc hearts that will give affection, or you can actively use them in battles. Each S rank completed battle gives a ship 0.06 affection points, if they MVP they will receive 0.12 affection, instead.
  51. The chinks claim that, so long as you don't give a shit about oil, the best way to farm affection would be to set up a fleet on 1-1 and click back and forth and do random encounters a shitton of times.
  52.
  53. Q. What's the difference in ammo types?
  54. A. Each class type of gun will have different multipliers for different ammo types against different armor types.
  55. Here's a chart:
  56. ammo type: light/medium/heavy
  57. CA: normal: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ | HE: 135%/095%/070% | AP: 075%/110%/075%
  58. CL: normal: 100%/075%/040% | HE: 145%/105%/070% | AP: 140%/090%/070%
  59. DD: normal: 100%/050%/020% | HE: 120%/060%/060% | AP: 090%/070%/040%
  60. BB: normal: 070%/100%/090% | HE: 140%/110%/090% | AP: 030%/130%/110%
  61.
  62. To note, light armor is present on DD's, CL's and monitors, medium armor is present on CA's and CV's, heavy armor is present on BB's and BC's.
  63.
  64. Q. What are these blue/purple/gold icons that have ships on pieces of paper?
  65. A. Blueprints. They're for retrofitting. On appicable ships that have retrofits, on their character screen there will be a new and foriegn button of an upward pointing arrow with swirly bits around it. That's the retrofit screen.
  66. Bonus note: You can combine 6 blue blueprints into 1 purple blueprint of the same type.
  67.
  68. Q. Equipment boxes?
  69. A. Fuck. Okay. There are four types of boxes. American, British, Japanese and German. Each one has some specific equipment that only they will drop. Here's a list of noteable nation exclusive shit, and the runes for both servers to identify the boxes.
  70. American / 克洛希德 / クロキッド : 127mm DD gun, 127mmMK12 DD gun, 406mm MK6 BB gun, F6F Fighter, sb2c Bomber, BTD-1 Bomber, SG Radar
  71. British / 威斯克 / ヴィスカー : Barracuda torp bomber, 40mm PomPom AA, 113mm AA, Seafang Fighter

  74. *not currently available on JP
  75. Bonus note: You can combine five tier 1 boxes into one tier 2 box, and five tier 2 boxes into one tier 3 box. You can do this by acquiring a stack of 5+ of the same box, click it, and then click the leftmost button. It will bring up a menu on how many you wish to combine, merely press the yellow button to confirm.
  76.
  77. Q. Is there a list for ship skills and what they do?
  78. A. Yes. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ysGrAlcpgV0JtfQwCgWVQhl70jP-KVj1WFXEmTvkvwM/
