I am a concerned resident that lives in .

If my Mother called DRPS for a wellness check - A MENTAL HEALTH CONCERN to help find my son and I refused a search I would not be thrown to the ground and beaten like an animal with a knee on my neck.
DRPS states he was "Possibly armed with a knife." - Which is exactly that, a statement to try and justify the discriminatory beating.
I would also not be arrested and fined over $300 for saying "What the fuck." after watching my friend get beaten.
He was an unarmed 16 year old boy that simply refused a search.

Black bystander that says "What the fuck?" : $300+ fine & arrested

White bystander filming it all, getting up close with the DRPS while also yelling profanities such as;
" why are you fucking punching him "
" ya got a knee on his fuckin neck, what are you doing man? "

Not detained, or fined. The officer only responds
"get outta here.",
"can you just back up for a minute?"

The racial bias in the DRPS is painfully clear in this video, it should not have taken a year and the tragic death of George Floyd for this to come to light.
This kind of racial bias and brutality can not be accepted in Canada and these officers should be held accountable.

I demand a full independent human rights investigation into the DRPS for racial bias regarding arrests, fines, civil asset forfeiture.

I demand that this investigation is thorough, goes back at least 10 years and is NOT done by another police agency.

All the information that is collected should be made public.

I should not be less likely to get a fine, get arrested, or have my property seized just because my skin is white.
To combat the systemic racism in Canada we must first start by investigating the departments with clear evidence of racial bias.
