The Dreamless Knights 1.0

Brother Arcturian was in a dream. The armored titan stared at something out of the corner of his eye, a squirming, drooling, shapeless thing which avoided his direct gaze. For a brief moment, he wondered if it had spoken to him, a barking tone which sought to impart some terrible wisdom. His mercury gauntlet reached out to snag the thing before, to his surprise, actually catching something, feeling the unseen, brittle shadow crumple under his enhanced grip. The more-than-man who had once sworn himself to a long-forgotten duty marveled as a sudden swarm of butterflies whirled across his visor, made out of crimson and moonlight. Truly, the world was full of wonder.

Sergeant Daniels was trapped in a nightmare. Huddled behind the crumpled remains of a shredded Basilisk, he could only stare as Commissar Hadrian's bolt pistol barked, it's mass-reactive shell detonating against the side of a terrifying giant's helmet to no effect. The silent butcher swayed and Daniels dared to hope the officer had struck a mortal wound, only for it to lash out with horrifying speed, no even deigning to look as it crushed the man's torso in its grip, showering itself in gore. Nearby, a many-limbed beast chittered and feasted, it's arachnoid features making his stomach churn as it feasted on something he could not look at. His world had become a place full of horror.
