  11. [BUC]Synopsis
  12. [C]Phantom Bullet takes place a year after the events of Sword Art Online (SAO) and Alfheim Online (ALO), when a new virtual reality (VR) game, Gun Gale Online (GGO), is triumphing. In this game appears a mysterious player called Death Gun, who in a special way is able to kill the players as in GGO as in real life. Kirito enters this new game to deal with his own identity, discovering how he can stop him. On the other hand, within the game is a girl thirsty for powerful rivals, always ready to pull the trigger. His name is Sinon. But... what is her real goal behind fighting?

  15. [C]Oh, SAO ...
  16. [C]The anime begins with Kirito trying investigate the case of Death Gun, a mysterious player who can in some way "interact" as in the game as in real life, taking the lives of the players he wants. This becomes a problem, because Kirito constantly remembers throughout history what happened in SAO and the people he had to kill in the game. Kirito converts his ALO account to GGO, but here begins the weird things...
  17. [BC]Kirito is a woman?!
  18. [C]Yep. We know that the GGO avatar can be generic in its physical form, but its gender doesn't vary, so it leaves us more than clear that the reason that Kirito is a woman is for nothing more and nothing less than fanservice. Kirito walks through the streets of GGO and meets a girl named Sinon, who introduces him to the game and guides him to buy his equipment. The funny thing is that here Kirito feels uncomfortable being under the body of a girl, and uses this fact as a certain "advantage", due to the lack of waifus in the game, and Sinon decides to become her friend (btw, she discovers that he is a boy). Kirito starts wanting to investigate about Death Gun, and enters a tournament called Bullet of Bullets (BoB) in which he probably will meet him.
  19. [BC]What happened to Asuna?!
  20. [C]Unafortunately, Asuna stays in ALO while she is waiting for Kirito's return, and here is where a rather annoying factor that happened in the first season of SAO is repeated, and that's the series is a "tryhard" of the harem and this time, including the second protagonist, Sinon. Clearly you can see in the first season how they repeat the overrated factor of a protagonist who's a good for nothing in real life and who ends up being the hero and "surrounded" by girls who in a certain way, admire him. In fact in a part of the anime, even his own sister, Suguha, is "declared" and not even incest goes with this anime.
  21. [BC]Bullet of Bullets?!
  22. [C]After Kirito and Sinon were finalists of the BoB qualifiers, they go into the Battle Royale (maybe A-1 Pictures predicted the new Fortnite boom?), a game mode in which all the classified players have to fight each other, generating ambushes or even "intense" 1v1 battles. Kirito finds Death Gun and discovers his nickname and his quite difficult skills to deal with, such as his camouflage. Kirito ends up allying himself with Sinon to defeat Death Gun, and discovers that he was a SAO player and he was on a group called "Laughing Coffin", a group of PK (player killer, I mean, those players who focus on just killing other players). After another "intense" battle between Kirito and Death Gun, he deafeats him and the BoB has two winners, Kirito and Sinon. They discover the identity behind Death Gun and also they discover the method that he used to kill players both outside and inside the game. The murderer's brother in a certain way coordinated the death within the game to kill the unconscious player inside his house.

  24. [BUC]Characters
  25. [BC]Kirito
  26. [C]He is the protagonist, the hero of all possible MMORPGs, and why not, always surrounded by girls. She has a weird avatar inside GGO, called M9000 and she's a girl. It's an avatar that many male players want, because of its feminine and cute appearance. He keeps his black hair, which now flows to the shoulders, has a pale skin, crimson lips and bright black eyes surrounded by long lashes.
  27. [BC]Sinon
  28. [C]She is the second protagonist of this story, which would come replacing who would be Asuna. She is a person who fails in his life, getting bullied from her close people and the only love he gets is from his best friend Shinkawa. She is serene and prudent, but she has a past that doesn't stop persecuting her, it's a bank robbery when she was a child, she killed the thief with its own gun surrounded by a pool of blood, and this will be a trauma that will always persecute her, but she will be able to overcome it with the arrival of Kirito, whom she has as a reference for his "self-improvement". She has a short pale, blue hair and indigo eyes. In combat, his wardrobe is a military green jacket with white, a bulletproof armor, a short black shorts, black combat boots and a white scarf around his neck.
  29. [BC]Death Gun
  30. [C]He is the enemy in the story. He's a mysterious character at first, who made himself known because he incredibly killed Zexceed inside the game, but also in real life, and he's known to him and his gun as "Death Gun", but his nickname in GGO is Sterben, which means death in german. Kirito is the one who investigates Death Gun, and Death Gun intercepts him in the BoB qualifiers, and asks him if he's the real Kirito. Kirito enters in a state of panic because he saw on his wrist the symbol of Coffin Laughing, and he realizes that he will be a great enemy through the story.

  32. [BUC]Animation
  33. [C]By the animation, the anime has that great touch that they give to battles, many lasers, and they make the topic that "I'm watching a virtual reality game of an anime in reality" bit more interesting. One point of the animation that I didn't like is that constantly the animation has those brightness slumps, and give the viewer a bad visual taste.

  35. [BUC]Opinion & Thoughts
  36. [C]SAO is a difficult anime to treat, because in its moment of boom, it was the most overrated anime, then it was a sin haven't watched the anime. After what the theme of this series promised, I objectively realized that the anime wasn't so good as its overrated aspect says, because it uses many concepts previously seen in other animes, and the anime goes from being an anime of videogames to a harem attempt. Another point is that the story is very short, and omit facts that could make the series more interesting, as if there was a "hurry" to put an end, clearly seen in the BoB where there were more than 20 players and we only have seen close of 5 battles, and it's like "if there are more than 20 players classified to the most competitive MMORPG tournament, why don't they show everyone's great skill?" Anyways, I didn't like the anime personally, because A-1 Pictures made the same mistakes as in the first season.
