- "You can't. The soldier looked down. A small red dot blinked from the sliver of land mine peeking out from under his knee.
- The soldier trembled violently. "Can't hold on much longer."
- Gella steadied him through the Force, careful he didn't slacken too much and tip over. She turned to Phan-tu. away."
- "Be ready to carry him
- She felt their eagerness and the fear that kept them sharp. As she moved her attention to the land mine, the soldier focused on them.
- Recognition filled his green Eirami eyes when he noticed Phan-tu.
- Confusion quicky gave way to panic as he threatended to scramble away from the prince. "Where am I? Is it really you?"
- "You're safe," Phan-tu said. "You're safe. I've got you."
- "It's too late," the man whimpered.
- "Now, now!" Gella shouted, her control slipping as she tried to keep the land mine pressed down and the frightened man calm. Phan-tu lifted the man and began to pull him away from the land mine as fast as he could. Cold sweat pooled between Gella's shoulders as she reined in her focus, the charge from the land mine whining as it engaged.
- At the same time she pushed the mine as far away as she could through the Force, someone was dragging her back across the ground as it blew.
- Gella bit down on the scream in her throat as she regained control and deflected the shrapnel of rocks.
