- Item #: SCP-055
- Object Class: Keter (Pending Thaumiel Evaluation)
- Special Containment Procedures:
- The true nature of SCP-055 remains elusive due to its potent memetic-inhibitory properties. As of this writing, no physical containment has been confirmed, nor is there consensus on whether such containment has ever existed. Foundation AI-memetic dampeners (see Protocol Θ-Mnemosyne) are to be applied across all internal networks to flag possible 055 leakage vectors: text posts, image threads, video footage, or verbal interactions containing correlated syntax patterns or anomalous emotion-sublimation vectors.
- Any personnel reporting symptoms of memory gaps, aggression, elevated cardiac stress, or intrusive thoughts involving a “little girl” are to be quarantined for psychological and physiological monitoring under Protocol 055-HADES.
- Direct interaction with SCP-055, intentional or otherwise, is strictly prohibited until further notice.
- Description:
- SCP-055 is a non-conceptualized entity or force presenting through memetic proxies—most often perceived as a young girl whose presence cannot be retained in conscious memory. Attempts to document or recall SCP-055 consistently result in either incomplete data, contradictory information, or aggressive emotional collapse.
- The few preserved logs describe SCP-055 as inducing the following layered anomalous effects:
- Post-Memetic Amnesia: Individuals who encounter SCP-055, whether visually, verbally, or textually, cannot retain specific details about the interaction. Even when recorded, the media becomes corrupted, unreviewable, or blank upon playback.
- Emotive Displacement: Exposure triggers an unsourced emotional resonance, often described as longing, regret, or unidentifiable yearning. This emotional echo becomes unbearable with time, causing psychological deterioration.
- Aggressive Projection: Affected individuals report urges to commit acts of extreme violence, including toward those they love or even toward the entity itself (should they be aware of her in the moment). These acts are often framed as attempts to “end the feeling.”
- Cardiac Failure: In 38% of confirmed cases, prolonged exposure has resulted in fatal cardiac episodes resembling Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (commonly referred to as “broken heart syndrome”).
- Addendum 055-Φ: Cross-Link with SCP-2055
- Recent memetic thread convergence suggests that SCP-055 and SCP-2055 may be ontologically entangled. SCP-2055 exhibits similar effects of emotional resonance feedback and reverse-presence projection—though SCP-055 appears to reflect these traits through a darker, more internalized vector.
- While SCP-2055 causes external emotional projection (viewers imprinting their emotional trauma onto her), SCP-055 appears to function as a resonance sink, absorbing suppressed desire and amplifying it into existential despair, rage, and dissociation.
- It is proposed that SCP-055 and SCP-2055 represent a duality in memetic causality:
- SCP-2055: “You see her, and she becomes what you feel.”
- SCP-055: “You feel her, and you become what you hide.”
- Incident Log 055-EV-12:
- A Level-2 researcher posted an encrypted image file tagged “The Girl in the Garden” on an internal Foundation humor channel. No image was found upon inspection. Within 12 minutes, three staff members in the same wing suffered simultaneous myocardial infarctions. A fourth individual was found in a break room mirror repeatedly scratching the words “She’s what I forgot” into her own face using a broken ID badge.
- Hypothesis 055-Δ (Provisional, Ethics Committee Redacted):
- SCP-055 may not be an entity in the traditional sense, but rather a conceptual rift—a gap in emotional logic where human desire cannot rationalize its origin, thus collapsing inward into rage and loss. The “little girl” may be a psychological avatar of something much older, possibly even an inverted memory construct generated by SCP-2055's continual emotional siphoning.
- Ongoing Research:
- Efforts to induce intentional memory anchoring via symbolic recursion, dream-logging, or exposure to SCP-2055 imagery while under 055-affliction are being explored by Dr. ████ under Project WRAITHHALO.
- All attempts to write a complete description of SCP-055 beyond three paragraphs result in document corruption, recursive loops, or emotional collapse of the writer.
- “She’s not the thing you see. She’s the space where your soul once had a shape.”
