  20.
  21. We should be safe now:
  22.
  23.
  24. C: The door's blocked... I could find another way to-
  25. D: *in pain* If there -is- another way, it’ll have to wait. I can’t make it back to base like this.
  26. C: Oh god your leg, hold on.
  27. D: It isn't life threatening. It looks worse than it is.
  28.
  29. *scramble*
  30. *shooting/explosions in the distance*
  31.
  32. D: Or not *pain* I guess it did get me. *grimace* At least it was the bad knee.
  33.
  34. *fabric tears*
  35.
  36. D: Here. I can tie the knot, you’ll have to tighten it for me.
  37. C: Tie it higher? *effort* Tell me if this is too tight.
  38. D: Higher. *pain* Yep. No, it’s fine. Tighter, we have to stop the bleeding.
  39. C: Tighter? *effort*
  40. D: *let go of breath* That’s good. Now we need to elevate it- *effort*
  41. C: *exhale* okay. There. Let's lift your leg and.. Prop it here.
  42.
  43. *breathing/ adrenaline*
  44. *battle noises stop*
  45.
  46. C: I think it's over, Doctor. We should be safe for now.
  47. D: *scoff* Key words “safe for now”. And don’t call me “doctor” for God’s sake. I thought we were past that, -Private-, though your uniform tells me otherwise.
  48. C: *chuckle* -Don't- call you doctor?? *laugh* Old habit, I guess. You’ve been a doctor for as long as I’ve known you. And it’s Captain now, not private.
  49. D: Captain? I’m sure it’s well deserved. *chuckle*
  50. C: *chuckle* Thanks.
  51.
  52. C: *still breathy.. Calming down* It's been a while, hasn't it? The last time you saw me was on the operating table.
  53. D: It’s really been too long. That’s right, you were still unconscious from the operation. Was that really the last time we saw each other?
  54. C: I know I missed last our appointment... I was deployed. And well, with how things were going it was sudden...
  55. D: *somber* It was sudden for all of us; they split all personnel to other areas on the front line. *chuckle* You know I was really looking forward to that follow up appointment. I was wondering how you were taking to it.
  56.
  57. C: *smirk* Did you miss me or were you more worried about your new hardware?
  58. D: Of course I was worried about you. And the hardware. *chuckle*
  59. C: *psh, sarcastic* uh huh. I’m sure.
  60. D: Don’t give me that look. You missed me too.
  61.
  62. *comfortable silence*
  63.
  64. D: Actually, could I take a look? I’ve been brainstorming for new features.
  65. C: You want to take a look at it now? Um, yeah. *leans in* I'll try not to blink *soft laugh*
  66. D: You can blink, don't worry. Look up?
  67. C: I appreciate that you tried to match my eye color. Everyone else I know that has one of these has red irises.
  68. D: You have a very unique eye color, of course I had to match it. The red ones that are out there are mass produced. And newer.
  69. C: Yes, the red ones are the new models. I think they released that update a couple months ago. *look up* But I’m sure you know that.
  70.
  71. D: Why didn’t you get an upgrade?
  72. C: Why didn't –I- take it? Um... Well, I -
  73. D: You know yours doesn't have the updated thermal sensor.
  74. C: What thermal sensor? I remember you told me that mine was your first- (procedure) *realization*
  75.
  76. C: Wait, you left your prototype with me?? Why would you do that?
  77. D: *chuckle* You just realized? Yeah, you have my prototype. I sent a message to your superior because I forgot to engage the sensor.
  78. C: I-I got your message –just- as our ship was leaving. THAT'S why you were looking for me? That was two years ago!
  79.
  80. D: *Grimace in sudden pain*
  81. C: Ah, I'm sorry, your leg.
  82. D: That's fine- you didn't *sharp breath* I just need to-
  83. C: Here.. Put your leg over mine.
  84. D: Are you sure? I'm going to bleed all over -your- leg.
  85. C: No, I don't care about the blood. I’ve seen enough as it is. Are you okay? Is that okay?
  86. D: *effort* Yeah, that's good.
  87.
  88. D: You know, I can activate it now if you want.
  89. C: Now? But- I've been fine without it for this long. And I don't think you should be moving so much.
  90. D: I'm okay, it'll give me something to distract myself from the pain. It's an easy fix.
  91.
  92. D: *sigh* Please? Just knowing I forgot has been eating at me for years.
  93. C: *grumble* Fine.
  94. D: *Chuckle* Do you have something sharp?
  95. C: Um.. *rummage* I have my knife.
  96. D: Your knife will work.
  97.
  98. C: You-you're not going to take it out, are you? *scoff*
  99. D: *roll eyes* No, I’m not going to take it out *scoff/chuckle* There’s a button on the side. I’m not a software genius.
  100. C: Of course you put a manual override on it. That sounds just like you.
  101.
  102. D: Trust me, this won’t hurt.
  103. C: I kind of -have- to trust you, you're my Doctor!
  104. D: Well I’d hope you’d trust me even if I wasn’t your Doctor!
  105. C: *sarcasm* Okay, okay.
  106.
  107. D: Stop- *laugh* stop flinching. Give me your chin. I said it wouldn’t hurt. Look further to the side.
  108. C: *doctor is holding your face* I-I'm not flinching! I'm looking as far as I can!
  109.
  110. *beep*
  111.
  112. D: There.
  113. C: Mm/Ugh (discomfort) *blink blink* D-do you still have to hold onto my face?
  114. D: *fluster* N-no, you can *clear throat/laugh* you can have your face back. *pause* Do you see anything? The reboot light just flashed. Can you lean in?
  115. C: Yes, it's rebooting now.
  116.
  117. *wait* *soft beeping* *breathing*
  118.
  119. D: And look up again. Now look at me.
  120. C: Does it look normal?
  121. D: The thermal overlay should be there now. Can you see me?
  122. C: Y-yes, I can see you. *blink* Ah, yes, there's the thermal read -
  123.
  124. D: *whisper* You know, I never realized how... *blush*
  125. C: *snicker* Your face is all-
  126. D: *fluster, normal voice* My face is not-! You know what, come here.
  127.
  128. *Sudden kiss*
  129.
  130. C: *gasp* Wha-
  131. D: *more kisses* Just... shut up and kiss me
  132.
  133. *make out with the back of your hand*
  134. *slower kisses, melancholy*
  135.
  136. C: *kiss*---mmm No *pull away* You can't do this. *STERN* Not after so long.
  137. D: *in between consoling kisses* I know... I'm sorry. I was dumb and didn't think- *kiss*
  138. C: *angry* Do you know how many times I thought about you? About us? *voice cracks* I never thought I'd see you again
  139. D: We all thought we would have more time. Please.
  140.
  141. C: No *starting to cry* Stop *more kisses*
  142. D: *exhale/emotion* I’ve never stopped thinking about us. I swore once this was over I’d come looking for you. I didn't think it would get this bad.
  143. C: *emotion/crying* I never thought I’d see you again.
  144. D: *console/kiss* I know, I didn't think so too.
  145.
  146. *more kisses*
  147.
  148. C: Why now when we had so much time before? If only we had time. Then love wouldn't be such a luxury.
  149. D: *emotion* We can still love, even if there isn’t time.
  150.
  151. *silence*
  152.
  153. C: But I loved you then. I still love you now.
  154.
  155. C: I love you
  156. D: I love you too. I’ve always loved you.
  157.
  158. C: Always.
  159.
  160. *more kisses*
  161.
  162. *beeping alert*
  163. D: *clear throat* You should get that. They’re probably looking for us.
  164. C: *sniffling/clearing throat* Copy. This is your Captain.
  165. C: Yes, we're both safe. The Doctor is injured, however. Requesting transport pod.
  166. D: I'm not -that- injured! Tell them we don't need a transport pod.
  167. C: *furious whisper* Then -how- are we going to get back to base? *clears throat* Yes, I'm still here. *pause* Understood. I'll send our coordinates.
  168. D: I just need a splint and I'll be good to go.
  169.
  170. C: Our hiding spot is compromised. We have to move. The pod is on the way.
  171. D: *exasperated* Fine.
  172. C: Fine. *huff* Let me help you up.
  173. D: *getting up* You sure we can't stay longer? I see something I could use for a splint.
  174. C: Forget the splint. Give me your arm.
  175. D: *oof* You're stronger than you look.
  176. C: Just don't bleed out on me.
  177.
  178. D: You were always the stubborn one.
  179. C: And you were always the reckless one. You didn't need to take that shot for me. You don't even have combat armor.
  180. D: Screw armor. *mumble* It was instinct.
  181. C: *mumble* Thank you though.
  182. D: You're welcome.
  183.
  184. C: There's the pod. It should have enough supplies to make a proper splint.
  185. D: That was quick. Hell, if that pod has what I think it does, I'll be walking by the time we get to base.
  186.
  187. *getting into pod* *Doctor still in pain*
  188. C: Got it?
  189. D: Yeah, you want me to move over?
  190. C: *exhale sitting* There.
  191. D: Good to go.
  192.
  193. *comfortable silence*
  194. C: We should be there in an hour or so.
  195. D: Great. That’ll give me time to fix this gash. I don’t think it needs stitches.
  196. C: From the looks of it went clean through. Um… Here’s the aid kit.
  197. D: Thanks. Fingers crossed it was recently stocked… most kits are notorious for having expired medication… Thankfully… *rummage* Perfect. Can you stick this in me?
  198. C: Excuse me? “Stick this in you?”
  199. D: Right here on the side of my knee. I can’t at this angle.
  200. C: Here?
  201. D: *yelp in pain* Not that hard!
  202. C: How else would you do it? It’s a needle!
  203. D: Just hand me the bandage.
  204. C: *exasperated sigh* Did you want me to wrap it for you?
  205. D: Uh- wow that pain killer works fast.
  206.
  207. C: *concern* Are you feeling alright?
  208. D: I’m fantastic, why do you ask?
  209. C: I think the anesthetic’s getting to you.
  210. D: No no, I’m fine. That was just your standard... *clears throat* thingy.
  211.
  212. C: The thermal scanner’s showing a spike in your temperature. Are you sure you’re okay?
  213. D: Yeah- I uh… I’m starting to feel warm.
  214.
  215. C: Is that normal? You’re the doctor, remember?
  216. D: Did you stab me with the blue vial or the red one?
  217. C: I gave you the blue one.
  218. D: *loopy chuckle* Ahh… that would explain it.
  219. C: Explain what? Are you going to be okay?
  220.
  221. D: The blue one is REALLY effective, but it also has immediate side effects.
  222. C: What kind of side effects are we talking about? Wait- what are you-
  223. D: Help me with my jacket, would you?
  224. C: S-stop taking your clothes off! Shouldn’t we be keeping you warm?
  225. D: I’ll be fine. I’m burning up right now. *takes jacket off* There, that’s better.
  226.
  227. C: *embarrassed noises* No. You need to put that back on.
  228. D: Who’s the doctor here, hm? The jacket stays off.
  229. C: At least cover up!
  230. D: *snicker* Now it’s your turn to blush. *chuckle* Oh come on, now you can’t look at me?
  231. C: Shut up. It’s just that I- *clear throat*
  232.
  233. D: *serious tone* Just that you what? Talk to me.
  234. C: I shouldn’t even be saying this.
  235. D: Tell me.
  236. C: *scoff* I was thinking inappropriately.
  237. D: *teasing* Oh? You like what you see?
  238. C: I didn’t say THAT. Don’t flatter yourself. I just- my mind is racing. Once we get back on base, we’ll fall back into our roles and duties and-
  239. D: *soft voice* Hey- I know it looks bad but it’ll be okay.
  240. C: *soft voice* And maybe we won’t see each other again.
  241.
  242. *pause*
  243. D: Come here. Give me your hands. I promise-
  244. C: How can you promise-
  245. D: I do! I promise to find you.
  246. *kiss*
  247. D: I love you. *kiss* I promise to find you. Promise me too. That you’ll look for me.
  248. C: I promise. I won’t stop looking for you.
  249. D: Hell, with your rank you should have no problems tracking me down.
  250. C: *sad chuckle* That’s true. Maybe I should request your transfer.
  251. D: I can see that. Us working together?
  252. C: I do outrank you, -Doctor-
  253.
  254. D: I don’t think rank really applies in this case… -Captain-
  255. C: *chuckle* I love you.
  256. D: I know. *kiss* I love you too
  257.
  258. *fade out kisses*
  259.
  260. NSFW option:
  261. *between kisses*
  262. C: My thermal sensor tells me that your getting warmer
  263. D: That’s the cheesiest excuse to use a thermal sensor
  264. C: You’re the one that activated it!
  265. D: Maybe that’s why I turned it on *chuckle*
  266. C: Lies. You were embarrassed.
  267. D: It’s hard not to get flushed around you
  268. C: Oh?
  269. D: You’ve always been very attractive.
  270. C: You’re not so bad yourself.
  271. D: Think so?
  272. C: Shut up and kiss me already.
  273.
  274. *make out intensifies*
  275.
