1.
One: I do not think Sharrowkyn is particulary well written or interesting. Which I have stated. Multiple times.
2.
3. Two: You have not brought any specific examples as to why he is the worst written character of HH beyond buzzwords, so excuse me for not taking you seriously. And again, Mary Sue means nothing as a term except "I don't like how this character is written".
4. Wrong yet again. You'd think you'd get tired of it at this point. I guess since someone has to educate you, Mary Sues can be considered to be two dimensional characters that warp the plot- and the rest of the cast- to revolve around them in ways inconsistent with the setting's established rules or what you'd expect. They also tend to have no relevant flaws to speak of. Sharrowsue is a textbook example of all of the above.
5.
6. The story of Angel Exterminatus- and more so Seventh Serpent- rapidly degenerates into mindless glorification of just how AWSUM Sharrowkyn is at everything, and what wonderful gimmicks he has.
7.
8. He ignores the rules of the setting- outdueling the best duelist, being the best marksman ever to the point of oneshotting a Primarch and making a clean get-away, having insights into how the plot works, having magical shadowpowers that aren't psyker based and leave everyone in awe.
9.
10. He has no relevant flaws that humanize him or make him interesting to read about. Brooding simply doesn't count since it doesn't actually cause setbacks or make him interesting to read about. Nothing about Sharrowsue personality-wise makes him stand out from Raven Guard #32425226. He's a cardboard cutout of a character. Look at Ahriman or Garro or Argel Tal, then look at Sharrowkyn. See the difference?
11.
12. He has no real personality to speak of beyond generic Raven Guard and a eyerolling side order of EDGEEEE. Worse still, his actions are incoherent from a "this is a specific person acting in a way their personality would be consistent with" perspective, and seems heavily influenced by whatever the plot needs to be at that specific moment, or to make him look "cool" in that scene. So we have the same asshole who hates the Emperor's Children then turn around and say, apparently with complete sincerity, that he doesn't enjoy the idea of killing Lucius because it would make the plot inconvenient if he did.
13.
14. Another example of plot-mandated actions and Sharrowsue Is Always Right: In the Seventh Serpent, the Alpha Legionaires were actually Iron Hands, in a completely nonsensical twist, and Meduson is actually Alpharius in disguise hunting down the Imperial-loyal Alpha Legionaire splinter faction led by Omegon. For no adequate in-universe reason, Sharrowsue insists that THEY'RE BAD GUYS, presumably because he read ahead in the script and despite the fact that there's no IC reason for him to think that. Alpharius praises him after unveiling himself and spares him with the bizarre excuse that "Magnus told me to" despite his never being depicted as someone who particularly cared for following suggestions from his peers, even Horus, in ANY other Heresy media. This is after a tired, battered Sharrowsue outfights an Alpha Legionaire who's supposed to be one of the best from that Legion, yet another nonsensical feat for someone who isn't supposed to be a top-tier duelist.
15.
16. Basically, Sharrowsue is the best at everything, has no real personality to speak of to redeem him as a character, and generally is a Raven Guard shaped prop for plot and AWSUM moments. There have been bad characters in the Horus Heresy series- pretty much every Word Bearer villain of a story- but rarely has a character been so bland, so implausibly hyped, and so story and suspension of disbelief-breaking as McNeil's Sue of a Raven Guard.
