- The 3rd film of P.R.C's "Texas Ranger" series. The source that shows 1943 as the year of the Alternate Title of "Shootin' Irons" is incorrect. This film was was not known under the title of "Shootin' Irons" until 1947 when PRC cut it to 45 minutes and re-issued it under the changed title, along with several other films from this series and some from Buster Crabbe's "Billy the Kid" series. The songs for this film, and a couple of other films in this series, were credited to "Tex Coe." A search for a songwriter named Tex Coe will prove fruitless, since "Tex Coe" is a joint effort of stars Dave (Tex) O'Brien and James (Jim) Newill. Since PRC went out of their way to identify O'Brien and Newill as being behind "Tex Coe", in publicity releases connected to this film, the Tex Coe credit line in the film just shows there wasn't a whole lot of logic going on at PRC most of the time anyway: Texas Rangers Tex Wyatt (<a href=">Dave O'Brien)) and Jim Steele re sent to Gabe's Crossing to form a Ranger unit for the new territory of New Mexico. They learn that Bart Calloway (Robert Barron), a crooked railroad agent, has been forcefully taking land from the local ranchers without proper reimbursement. Rancher Bert Yeager (Henry Hall)is leading several others in a fight against Calloway and his gang, and the Yeager forces have been forced to hide in the mountains. Calloway has his partner killed and places the blame on Yeager. Jim believes Yeager guilty, but Dave sticks to his faith in the rancher (a favorite plot ploy of writer Oliver Drake was to have the two leads take opposite sides in a conflict.) Dave is vindicated when Calloway's girl, Marie Monette (Frances Gladwin), confesses the murder plot staged by Calloway. The two re-united Rangers ride off together, pals again forever...until they are cast in another Drake story.
- Texas Rangers Tex and Jim head to New Mexico to bring in Yeager and his men who are fighting the new railroad. The real crooks however are Calloway and his lawyer Conlon who have been forging deeds and rustling cattle. When Tex sets a trap to bring in Yeager, Jim refuses and the two Rangers find themselves on opposite sides.
