  1. [7:08 PM] Rosalie: The group that explored the Duskwood returned to Dawn Stone Hills, relaying all that they'd seen. A bustling and curious place, it certainly has more secrets to be found, but that's not what this expedition is for! Lugh described a sheer cliff wall that seemed like a point of ingress into Mt. Inthan, which could yield more resources, and more importantly, a very good vantage point for the surrounding area. Lugh has also fashioned some basic equipment for helping you make your way up the cliffs, as well as warned you to come prepared with tithes for the strange Duskwood fairies.
  2.
  3. The group is composed of Rhoda, Fennel, Xander, and Gin. You all wake up after a full night's rest, camped out just outside the Duskwood. Having already been here once, Fennel and Xander are easily able to repeat the trip and follow the directions given by Lugh.
  4. [7:10 PM] Fennel: "I'm glad we didn't wander through another warzone on the way..." he murmurs as he gets up and gets ready to head out.
  5. [7:11 PM] Xander: "It's easier if you just accept that life, itself, is an eternal warzone that we are destined to do battle in..." He nods at his own profoundness
  6. [7:11 PM] Rhoda: Rhoda is likely already awake, brewing a fresh cup of coffee. Likely also drinking it out of some kind of mug that promises death and destruction for anyone bothering her before she is finished with said coffee.
  7. [7:12 PM] Rhoda: "Ayup."
  8. [7:12 PM] Gin: Gin, having heard from Lugh about the tea-seeking Mawile on his trip, brought along with him on the trip some of his prized loose leaf tea - a spring picking, lightly oxidized for a fresh and grassy flavor. The sachet is poking out of his bag slightly, easy pickings for Fairy grabby hands in the night. The rest of his supplies - 2 Potions and some calligraphy materials - he buries deep under his extra changes of clothing to protect them.
  9. [7:13 PM] Gin: Gin himself is up early, before the crack of dawn. He's perched up on a sturdy branch overlooking the campsite scrawling something on a roll of paper with a crude Skiddo-hair brush and ink made from crushed charcoal. "Morning~" He calls down as Fennel and Xander wake.
  10. [7:14 PM] Fennel: Fennel, for what it's worth, has brought a folded tarp. It's definitely an older thing, but bringing a rough cashmere blanket or something when it's approaching summer is just asking for trouble. Instead he brought something to help a little with the summer heat and rains, and decorations could be applied to it too! But maybe it's a little TOO plaina nd practical?
  11. [7:15 PM] Xander: Xander himself is also equipped with some coffee, making a show of insisting that it be as 'black as his soul' but sneaking some sugar in when he thinks nobody is looking. He's brought a pair of 3D glasses and a comic book meant to be read with them for the fairies.
  12. [7:15 PM] Rosalie: Light is just beginning to peak over the horizon, illuminating the sky in awe-inspiring colors. The ambient sounds coming from the forest begin to transition from the ominous chirps and cries in the night to a more vibrant bird song.
  13. [7:16 PM] Gin: "Birds are happy today. Mayhaps still in good spirits from their victory over the bugs. Perhaps we'll have peace in the woods for a while yet."
  14. [7:17 PM] Rhoda: "Ayup."
  15. [7:17 PM] Rhoda: Rhoda finishes her breakfast.
  16. [7:17 PM] Rhoda: "Lets go."
  17. [7:18 PM] Rosalie: A pair of pidoves alight on a nearby tree branch, watching the visitors to the forest curiously. Their rhythmic coos resound across the forest, though whether it's a greeting or a warning is unclear!
  18. [7:18 PM] Gin: Gin whistles back at them with a wave.
  19. [7:19 PM] Rosalie: They deliberate with one another for a moment before the smaller of the two hops a few branches closer, attempting to mimic Gin's whistle back at him.(edited)
  20. [7:19 PM] Fennel: "It's a beautiful day." He takes in a deep breath, and then pumps his first. "Alright, I'm with Rhoda. I'm pumped. Let's do this."
  21. [7:20 PM] Rhoda: "Sooner we finish and get back the better."
  22. [7:20 PM] Gin: Gin responds with a more complex melody and a grin.
  23. [7:21 PM] Xander: Xander squints at the Pidoves, wondering what conspiracy is afoot, but he says naught.
  24. [7:22 PM] Rosalie: Fennel and Xander, the way ahead is familiar to you! In fact, you can juuust make out the remains of the path carved by the Venusaur the day before. Foongus and paras nibble at the snapped branches left behind. The pidove harkens to Gin, repeating his whistling and countering with its own melody, trilling wildly a beautiful melody.
  25. [7:22 PM] Rosalie: The pidove that remained at a distance snaps its head to stare at Xander.
  26. [7:23 PM] Fennel: "Heeey, this looks like the right path. Careful, brush is pretty thick around here, but our path's probably still here..."
  27. [7:23 PM] Gin: Gin laughs and claps. "I don't think I can outdo that, but maybe we'll see next time." He hops down from the branch and deftly grabs his pack in one motion, slinging it over a shoulder. "You'll be seeing a lot of us coming through here now that we've started exploring."
  28. [7:24 PM] Fennel: "You guys gonna stay back and 'deedledeedlewhooop" with the birds all morning?" he grins, getting the pokemon type COMPLETELY wrong. "Come on! We got a big hike ahead."(edited)
  29. [7:24 PM] Xander: Xander stares back at the Pidove.
  30. [7:25 PM] Gin: "Mmm, what are we in such a hurry for, again?" Gin follows along a good several paces behind Fennel.
  31. [7:26 PM] Rosalie: The pidove flaps its wings in victory, though it almost seems a little disappointed the game didn't continue. It hops back and shares a peep with its companion before the two fly off deeper into the forest. As you follow the path, you can make out the battleground from yesterday, now much quieter and solemn. On the other side of the path, dew glistens on a series of spider webs...spider webs that seem to have found some large feathered prey in the night. Several Spinarak work in a flurry, repairing the damage done to the webs by the desperate thrashing of their victims.(edited)
  32. [7:27 PM] Xander: He shakes his fist at the Pidove as it leaves the staring contest. Coward.
  33. [7:28 PM] Fennel: "I guess we're not, but... I dunno. I feel kind of restless. and energetic. I'm excited about blazing new trails."
  34. [7:28 PM] Fennel: "You ever feel like that?"
  35. [7:29 PM] Fennel: He glances up at the spiders at they pass.
  36. [7:30 PM] Xander: "I get it. I too want to burn a searing light across the dark unknown."
  37. [7:30 PM] Gin: "New places are exciting, sure, but they're also not going away. They'll be here tomorrow, and the day after, and long after we're all gone." Gin stops briefly to admire the spiders' work. "Wish we had a 'camera'."
  38. [7:31 PM] Rosalie: As you all continue down the path, you pass by the grove the first party stopped off in. Near the entrance, you see what must be the same Venusaur, still dozing. A tired eyelid flips open to inspect you all. Upon recognizing familiar faces, it lingers on the newcomers before grunting and giving a quick nod. Though it seems a tad on the early side, a few Tangela and Oddish trot out curiously to observe you. One of the Tangela rushes forward, vines holding out flowers towards each of you.
  39. [7:31 PM] Rhoda: "Friends of yours?"
  40. [7:32 PM] Gin: "Oh, gifts? It's a shame I've nothing to offer in exchange." Gin stoops down to receive the flower from the Tangela.
  41. [7:33 PM] Fennel: "Oh? Thank you..."
  42. [7:34 PM] Fennel: The look on his face says he feels about like Gin does on that front.
  43. [7:34 PM] Rosalie: The Tangela's deft vines plant one flower in Gin's hair and another in one of Fennel's shoes.
  44. [7:36 PM] Xander: "The big one yes, but these little ones are unknown to me." He kneels down to one of the Tangela to receive flowers.
  45. [7:36 PM] Fennel: He checks out the flower, and beams a little at it. "It looks very nice! Thank you."
  46. [7:36 PM] Rhoda: Rhoda isn't a flowers kind of girl and awkwardly takes one.
  47. [7:36 PM] Fennel: "I'll have to bring something next time..."
  48. [7:36 PM] Rosalie: Xander gets a flower right up a nostril. The Tangela nods to itself, satisfied with noticing the perfect flower placement location.
  49. [7:36 PM] Gin: "It's pretty, thank you." Gin gives the Tangela an affectionate pat. "Maybe back in town Lugh or Vasko can help us extract the seeds and plant more."
  50. [7:37 PM] Xander: "HRK'
  51. [7:37 PM] Rosalie: The Tangela lurches back from the sound, retreating a few feet away!
  52. [7:37 PM] Fennel: "See no evil, hear no evil... smell no evil?" he says dryly.
  53. [7:38 PM] Xander: Xander falls over, wrestling the flower out of his nose, and eventually getting up and tossing it away. "It sought to take control of me!"
  54. [7:38 PM] Gin: "Oh, don't mind him. He's always like this." Gin waves dismissively at Xander, then beckons the Tangela closer.
  55. [7:38 PM] Rosalie: The Tangela cautiously plods closer to Gin, keeping a watchful eye on Xander.
  56. [7:38 PM] Fennel: "You're fine, you enormous goofball."
  57. [7:39 PM] Xander: "I can only hope that a dark seed has not started to germinate within me..."
  58. [7:40 PM] Fennel: "I think that's if you swallow a watermelon seed."
  59. [7:40 PM] Gin: "So you're the gardener here? Or one of them. Here, give this a smell." Gin pulls out the sachet of loose leaf tea he plans on offering the Fairies. "...Do you like it? I cultivate this back home."(edited)
  60. [7:41 PM] Xander: "Would that it could be something as mundane as a watermelon seed..."
  61. [7:44 PM] Rosalie: The Tangela pokes the sachet curiously. After staring between it and Gin patiently for a moment, it loses interest and starts to wander away.
  62. [7:44 PM] Fennel: "Guess not." he says to Gin.
  63. [7:44 PM] Gin: "Oh, that's too bad."
  64. [7:44 PM] Rhoda: "Ain't interested unless it's walkin' on two legs I guess."
  65. [7:45 PM] Gin: "I'll come back next time with something you'll like then." Gin says, packing his tea away again.
  66. [7:45 PM] Fennel: Fennel starts heading down the way!
  67. [7:46 PM] Xander: Xander follows Fennel, glad to quit this place.
  68. [7:47 PM] Rosalie: It turns back around when Gin begins speaking and watches him for a moment. It then hops excitedly and runs back towards the Grove, flanked by the others. As you continue to the north, towards the strange toll booth, everyone give me a Quick or Focused check!
  69. [7:48 PM] Gin: 1d20 lol what are those
  70. [7:48 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Gin:

  75. [7:48 PM] Rhoda: Hope I did it right
  76. [7:48 PM] Rosalie: Looks right!
  77. [7:48 PM] Fennel: 1d20+4 Quick
  78. [7:48 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Fennel:

  84. [7:50 PM] Xander: does investigator apply?
  85. [7:50 PM] Rosalie: Mmmmm
  86. [7:50 PM] Rosalie: MMMMmmmmm
  87. [7:51 PM] Rosalie: We'll say yes
  88. [7:51 PM] Xander: 1d6
  89. [7:51 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Xander:
  90. 1d6:(6)=6
  91. [7:51 PM] Xander: 14
  92. [7:53 PM] Rosalie: Gin, you are absolutely intoxicated with the beauty of this forest. The juxtaposition between growth and decay, the thriving communities, the flamboyant colors, everything is just amazing. Rhoda keeps a wary eye out, watching her surroundings carefully. It is far too early for any sort of shenanigans. Fennel feels the wind shift for just a second; something feels...off. He reflexively steps away. Xander spots a little pink blur as Fennel suddenly shifts and manages to step away as well as it turns towards him. It dashes off into the forest, one hand carrying a sachet and the other carrying whatever Rhoda brought as tribute.
  93. [7:54 PM] Rhoda: "My doorknob!"
  94. [7:55 PM] Xander: "Evil works in mysterious ways."
  95. [7:55 PM] Gin: "Hm?" Gin has no idea what's wrong.
  96. [7:55 PM] Xander: "Check your sachet, friend."
  97. [7:56 PM] Rosalie: In their place are a collection of strangely colored pebbles. 6 for Gin and a curious 8 for Rhoda.
  98. [7:56 PM] Rhoda: "The random crap Lugh told us to bring is gone."
  99. [7:56 PM] Rhoda: inspects the pebbles, "What are these?
  100. [7:56 PM] Fennel: "You... brought a doorknob?? Why would yo- hm?"
  101. [7:56 PM] Xander: "Their worth, I suppose."
  102. [7:57 PM] Gin: "Oh, they took it. Well, I can't complain too much. It's what we were supposed to do, right?" Gin counts out the pebbles.
  103. [7:57 PM] Rhoda: "I had one lying around."
  104. [7:57 PM] Rhoda: "I was fixing a door."
  105. [7:57 PM] Fennel: "....well, okay. I think Lugh mentioned something about pebbles, too."
  106. [7:57 PM] Rhoda: "I guess they liked it."
  107. [7:57 PM] Xander: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  108. [7:57 PM] Xander: "We should move onward before they try taking more."
  109. [7:57 PM] Rhoda: shows off her 8 pebbles.
  110. [7:58 PM] Fennel: "Keep an eye out though, little buggers making the exchange themselves could just as easily swing the deal out of favor too."
  111. [7:58 PM] Fennel: He nods at Xander.
  112. [7:58 PM] Rosalie: He did! The pebbles are paid to enter their strange little gates.
  113. [7:58 PM] Fennel: And then he looks for the gate.
  114. [8:01 PM] Rosalie: It doesn't take long: the path grows increasingly developed until it's just an obviously carved path through the foliage, lined with decorative rocks even to make an obvious trail. As you continue, a small archway of twisted plants stands to the northwest, incredibly out of place. Aside it is a small wooden bowl. Per Lugh's information, you should put one pebble in for each person passing through, and for any pokemon the fairies are actively aware of!
  115. [8:03 PM] Rhoda: has Vinny in his pokeball, so she tries to get through with just one pebble.
  116. [8:03 PM] Gin: "Should we split the cost?"
  117. [8:03 PM] Fennel: "Well, I don't have any pebbles."
  118. [8:03 PM] Xander: All of his mons are in balls and haven't been out over the past day. "Neither do I."
  119. [8:04 PM] Rhoda: "Don't see why not."
  120. [8:04 PM] Rosalie: Rhoda plops a pebble in and strides through confidently! She makes it to the other side without incident.
  121. [8:04 PM] Rhoda: plunks in pebbles for Fennel and Xander too
  122. [8:04 PM] Rhoda: -3 pebbles
  123. [8:04 PM] Xander: Walks on in.
  124. [8:04 PM] Fennel: He heads through.
  125. [8:04 PM] Rhoda: "I got two extra, so why not?"
  126. [8:04 PM] Gin: "Might be fun to see what happens if they don't pay though. But too late I guess." Gin drops one in the bowl and continues through.
  127. [8:05 PM] Rosalie: As you all pay the toll and walk through the gate, things remain...quiet. It's almost disappointing compared to the shenanigans Lugh described.
  128. [8:06 PM] Fennel: "Wonder what's going on. Too early in the morning?"
  129. [8:06 PM] Fennel: "Or did something happen?"
  130. [8:07 PM] Gin: "We paid the toll and played along well enough I guess."
  131. [8:07 PM] Fennel: "Well, let's not look a gift ponyta in the mouth I guess."
  132. [8:07 PM] Rhoda: I have 5 pebbles left
  133. [8:08 PM] Rosalie: It's pleasantly easy to walk along the path, compared to the rough and uneven forest floor. As you continue, you spy a number of large, moss-covered boulders. Lugh had also mentioned encountering a merchant Mawile with a stall here, but you see nothing in the vicinity.
  134. [8:09 PM] Fennel: "Maybe they're moving to a new place soon and packing up."
  135. [8:09 PM] Fennel: He just heads up the path, then.
  136. [8:10 PM] Gin: "It's a mystery for later." Gin agrees.
  137. [8:11 PM] Xander: "Would that I could spend time solving it...but we have bigger endeavors in our struggle against the unknown, yes?"
  138. [8:11 PM] Rhoda: "Yeah, yeah."
  139. [8:12 PM] Gin: "Seems more like a pleasant morning stroll than a struggle to me."
  140. [8:13 PM] Rosalie: The path winds more to the west, directly towards the mountains, and gradually slopes upwards. As you march closer, the vegetation grows more sparse, and the terrain becomes much rockier and rugged. You find yourselves in a small clearing just starting to break the tree line. To the west is the sheer cliff you were looking for, looming above you as it marks the way deeper into Mt Inthan. To the north is a meandering path, where you spy a number of discarded Dwebble shells. Occasionally a Dwebble scuttles along, inspecting each shell carefully and assessing its fit.(edited)
  141. [8:13 PM] Fennel: "More of these little crabs... they're adorable!"
  142. [8:14 PM] Fennel: "Is it looking for a new home...?"
  143. [8:14 PM] Xander: "Hm, the Dwebble molt..." Nodnod.
  144. [8:15 PM] Gin: Gin stops and finds a rock to sit on to let Fennel admire the Dwebble. He reaches in his bag and pulls out a waterskin, taking a swig.
  145. [8:15 PM] Rosalie: It is quite clear to everyone but Xander that these shells are really not naturally part of their body. In fact, it's really not quite clear where they come from.
  146. [8:15 PM] Fennel: He tries to help the dwebble find a suitable new shell.
  147. [8:15 PM] Fennel: Because he seems to like these little guys a lot.
  148. [8:16 PM] Gin: "Next time, we'll bring some of the cut stone from in town." Gin remarks as he watches Fennel.
  149. [8:16 PM] Rosalie: The dwebble scuttles backwards in surprise as the lumbering giant marches over. But after not immediately being pounced upon, it gives Fennel a curious look and pokes his leg hesitantly.
  150. [8:16 PM] Rhoda: "I could probably fix up something better than a rock."
  151. [8:16 PM] Gin: "It seems high quality. The Lotus people didn't skimp."
  152. [8:16 PM] Fennel: "Hey there..."
  153. [8:17 PM] Fennel: "Whatcha looking for, little one?" He grins at it poking him. He reaches his hand out, palm up for a moment and sees how it reacts.
  154. [8:19 PM] Rosalie: The dwebble taps your palm several times, examining it. Its eye stalks oscillate between you and the collection of shells. Eventually, it scuttles over to one shell that seems about its size, however it's pinned beneath a much larger shell that it tries, and fails, to push away.
  155. [8:19 PM] Fennel: He carefully lifts the bigger shell to let it claim its prize.
  156. [8:20 PM] Rosalie: Give me a Stronk check!
  157. [8:20 PM] Fennel: 1d20 UNF WHAT IS STRONG?
  158. [8:20 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Fennel:
  159. 1d20:(16)=16
  160. [8:21 PM] Rosalie: You brace yourself as you move into position, recalling the wisdom of lifting with your legs and not your back. In a Herculean feat of strength, to the Dwebble at least, you easily manage to lift the larger shell up long enough for the hermit bug to swap into the new shell and scuttle out of the way happily.(edited)
  161. [8:22 PM] Fennel: He sets down the shell nearby and breathes out, looking winded. "Whew."
  162. [8:22 PM] Fennel: "You good? Good!"
  163. [8:22 PM] Rhoda: Slow clap
  164. [8:22 PM] Rosalie: The Dwebble reaches into its old shell momentarily, foraging around, before pulling out two intricately painted pebbles. It pushes them towards Fennel appreciatively.
  165. [8:22 PM] Fennel: "It's a lot heavier than it looks."
  166. [8:23 PM] Fennel: "Huh? For me? Well, thank you!"
  167. [8:23 PM] Fennel: He takes them.
  168. [8:23 PM] Xander: He also claps, rather intensely
  169. [8:23 PM] Rosalie: It gives you several more taps and waits around, seemingly out of curiosity.
  170. [8:24 PM] Fennel: "Are you alone here?" he asks, looking around.
  171. [8:25 PM] Rosalie: You notice a few Dwebble in the distance, scuttling towards a river. They seem to be paying you, or your new friend, no mind.
  172. [8:26 PM] Fennel: "Not your friends over there, huh... well, you want to come with us?"
  173. [8:26 PM] Rosalie: The Dwebble taps its shell in contemplation. It then does a dorky little spin, weighed down by its own shell, before tapping on you again happily.
  174. [8:27 PM] Fennel: Aw, that's adorable. "Hey, welcome, then!" he gets out a Pokeball and taps the little crab.
  175. [8:27 PM] Rosalie: Zwoop! You have acquired a bug friend.
  176. [8:27 PM] Fennel: Bug friend!
  177. [8:27 PM] Rosalie: (Pidgeot will remember that.)
  178. [8:27 PM] Fennel: Man fuck pidgeot.
  179. [8:27 PM] Fennel: I'm not Gin over here making bird calls.
  180. [8:28 PM] Rosalie: The cliff contains looming over you all to the west. In that way that cliffs do.
  181. [8:28 PM] Fennel: "Right then, sorry..."
  182. [8:28 PM] Fennel: "Guess the sheer cliff isn't going to climb itself."
  183. [8:28 PM] Gin: "No need to apologize."
  184. [8:28 PM] Fennel: He gets out his climbing gear.
  185. [8:29 PM] Gin: Gin walks along the cliff, patiently searching for the best spot to start climbing up.
  186. [8:29 PM] Xander: He too readies the climbing gear, surveying for a good spot to start at.
  187. [8:30 PM] Rhoda: "Lets climb."
  188. [8:31 PM] Rosalie: You all have basic little harnesses composed of short lengths of rope and some improvised hooks made of scrap metal. As you walk closer, you find that despite how intimidating it looked at first glance, there are a fair number of handholds and ridges to be utilized. In terms of rock climbing, this cliff doesn't look particularly complicated. Sheer Strength is all that seems necessary!
  189. [8:31 PM] Rosalie: Dice me up
  190. [8:31 PM] Rhoda: Stronk checks then
  191. [8:31 PM] Rosalie: Yep
  192. [8:31 PM] Rhoda: 1d20+3 Stronk
  193. [8:31 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Rhoda:

  197. 1d20+3:(7)+3=10
  198. [8:31 PM] Fennel: 1d20 is he still STRONK or is he still out of breath?
  199. [8:31 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Fennel:
  200. 1d20:(11)=11
  201. [8:31 PM] Xander: 1d20 what is stronk
  202. [8:31 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Xander:
  203. 1d20:(12)=12
  204. [8:31 PM] Rhoda: Painfully average rolls
  205. [8:34 PM] Rosalie: You all take a moment to plot out a path, agreeing on the optimal route. Rhoda leads the way, easily pulling herself up the cliffside, followed shortly by each of the others. Before long, you all climb to the top, helping each other up over the edge. Behind you is an amazing view of the Duskwood, though the foliage is so dense that you mostly just see a multitude of pidgeottos and staravia on patrol.
  206. [8:35 PM] Rosalie: Ahead of you is a much more wide open space, a nice change of pace from the relatively claustrophobic forest. There's a sort of natural path funneling down towards a small, rocky valley.
  207. [8:37 PM] Xander: Once they've had a moment to catch their breaths, Xander heads for the path. "No time to lose, then."
  208. [8:37 PM] Rhoda: "Absolutely. I'm starting to have some fun."
  209. [8:37 PM] Fennel: "And yet you could lose it all with a view like this."
  210. [8:37 PM] Gin: Gin takes his time absorbing the view. It's only when the others start moving again that he begins to make his way towards the valley.
  211. [8:37 PM] Fennel: He heads on, though.
  212. [8:38 PM] Rosalie: Dotting the path are a number of curiously shaped rocks...or they would be if they weren't occasionally twitching or hopping around. Already quite familiar with the antics of Geodudes due to Eduardo, Rosalie's companion, you're able to spot them easily. These ones don't seem to have nearly as impressive eyebrows though.
  213. [8:38 PM] Xander: "Ah, rockfriends."
  214. [8:38 PM] Fennel: "Do they shave their eyebrows? Is that a thing Geodudes do? Maybe with other hard stones."
  215. [8:39 PM] Xander: "I am sure Rosalie can tell us much about their hygeine."
  216. [8:39 PM] Gin: Gin gives them a wide berth but greets them with a friendly wave - this may well be the first time they've seen humans.
  217. [8:39 PM] Fennel: Right dowwwwn the roaaaad.
  218. [8:40 PM] Rosalie: As you proceed through the valley and become acclimated to the new surroundings, you begin to learn the lay of the land. Whereas the forests were vibrant, teeming with life, and changed quickly, the overall pace of those that lived here seems much more laid back. Small trails sculpt the area as the occasional Diglett pops out of the ground. More begin popping up as they follow you all at a distance, watching with interest. Several Sandshrew ball up and roll away at your approach.
  219. [8:41 PM] Rosalie: The Geodudes give lazy waves back to Gin.
  220. [8:41 PM] Xander: "Diglett..." He looks at them, drawing closer. "I've always wondered what lurks beneath the ground."
  221. [8:42 PM] Gin: "You think we're the first humans they've seen around here? It's possible there's a settlement up in the mountains, after all."
  222. [8:42 PM] Gin: "You should pull one up." Gin suggests to Xander.
  223. [8:42 PM] Xander: "That is exactly what I am thinking..."
  224. [8:42 PM] Rosalie: The herd of Digletts suddenly scatter and disappear at Xander's sudden approach.
  225. [8:42 PM] Gin: Gin quietly steps away from Xander in case he actually follows through on that.
  226. [8:42 PM] Rhoda: "Is that a good idea?"
  227. [8:43 PM] Xander: "Probably not!"
  228. [8:43 PM] Rhoda: "No telling what these things will do if you try to pull one up."
  229. [8:43 PM] Xander: "But these ones don't seem to want to humor me anyway, so I suppose that is that."
  230. [8:43 PM] Fennel: "I didn't expect so many cute types of Pokemon would live up here."
  231. [8:43 PM] Fennel: He lets Razzle out in the meantime. Skiddo like mountains, right?
  232. [8:44 PM] Fennel: He rubs the kid's head and lets her frolic a little.
  233. [8:44 PM] Rosalie: Skiddo love mountains! Razzle does not hesitate to romp up and down one of the valley walls, at angles that seem highly improbable.
  234. [8:46 PM] Gin: "With us out of the way, I imagine most of the world looks like this now. Pokemon whiling away their days, at their own pace." Gin finds a seat again, on a not-geodude rock.
  235. [8:46 PM] Fennel: "Think so? It's not so bad, is it?"
  236. [8:47 PM] Gin: "Not at all."
  237. [8:47 PM] Xander: "There's always more to the story than that." He smirks.
  238. [8:47 PM] Fennel: "Sometimes back home I just camp out with the herds at night instead of heading back home. There's something nice about being in the elements."
  239. [8:48 PM] Rhoda: "Something nice about indoor plumbing too."
  240. [8:48 PM] Fennel: "Oh yeah, that's one thing I miss when camping."
  241. [8:48 PM] Rosalie: Eventually, the valley levels off and gives way to a flat clearing. By now, all signs of vegetation are gone completely, leaving you only with hard rock. Nearby cliff faces are stratified with a surprisingly beautiful palette of colors from the various minerals that compose them. The most obvious landmark is a large cave opening just in front of you. If you thought the cliff was doing a lot of looming earlier, you are amazed to find that it hardly loomed at all in comparison to this cave. To your right, there is another cliff that seems like it could be climbed, though at quite a bit more difficulty than the first. It leads up to a local peak towering high above you, though even it is dwarfed by the titanic peaks to the north. To your left, past the cave, is a rocky outcropping. A number of various pokemon footprints leads out past it and around the wall of a cliff.
  242. [8:50 PM] Gin: Gin walks along the cliff face, searching for a broken off bit of rock, hoping for a chunk that spans a spectrum of colors.
  243. [8:50 PM] Gin: "Should we check where those lead?" He points at the footprints as well.
  244. [8:51 PM] Rosalie: Various bird pokemon soar high above you all, around the peak. Looking up carefully, some are also roosting at various points along the cliffside as well.
  245. [8:51 PM] Xander: He nods. "My investigator's sense is telling me there's something good there."
  246. [8:52 PM] Fennel: "Sure! And then I'd like to check out the cave if we can."
  247. [8:52 PM] Xander: "Sounds good to me, we must bring light to the darkness." Nodnod.
  248. [8:52 PM] Fennel: He runs his fingers along the colorful strata, almost expecting the color to stain his fingertips.
  249. [8:54 PM] Rosalie: There are a few rocks of different minerals that have fractured off, in various states of erosion. Though none show the full breadth of color as the entire cliff face, you find several rock fragments featuring garnet porphyroblasts.
  250. [8:54 PM] Gin: "Not too much light though, if we delve deep. I imagine deep cave Pokemon are adapted to the darkness. Too bright a light might daze them, or worse, damage their sight."
  251. [8:54 PM] Rosalie: Fennel, as it turns out, your fingers do come back stained with a deep red dust!
  252. [8:54 PM] Xander: "Not to worry, I think all we need is a candle."
  253. [8:54 PM] Gin: Gin picks up a few of those fragments and tosses them in his bag.
  254. [8:55 PM] Gin: He then sets off to follow the footprints.
  255. [8:56 PM] Rhoda: follows
  256. [8:57 PM] Fennel: He rubs his fingers a bit with a bit of wonder, then follows behind.
  257. [8:58 PM] Rosalie: Following the foot prints, the path seems to very nearly leads right off the edge of a cliff! However, as you approach, it becomes clear that there is another section, originally hidden from view. While the owners of the footprints seem small enough to easily walk along this path, it would be more difficult for human sized beings. Should you fall, you'd find yourself rolling down to a lower level, and while you'd certainly still be alive, it would certainly not be an enjoyable activity!
  258. [8:58 PM] Gin: "I think this is as far as we go. Our Pokemon though, that's another story."
  259. [8:59 PM] Rosalie: Everyone give me an insightful check.
  260. [8:59 PM] Gin: 1d20+5
  261. [8:59 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Gin:

  263. [8:59 PM] Xander: does Investigator apply?

  274. [9:01 PM] Fennel: And I do have the Hiker background, but it doesn't actually affect mountain climbing or hiking lol
  275. [9:01 PM] Rosalie: As you all consider this precarious path, it begins to dawn on everyone that a controlled slide down now would lead to a much more comfortable walk along the lower path, simplifying the endeavor entirely. However before anyone can say anything Xander has already found a location to do exactly that and is fully prepared to dramatically slide down.
  276. [9:02 PM] Xander: "Follow my lead!" Xander slips and slides right on down, a grin on his face
  277. [9:02 PM] Fennel: "What the he- Hey, Xander!" he goes to follow.
  278. [9:02 PM] Rhoda: "Ayup."
  279. [9:03 PM] Rhoda: follows
  280. [9:03 PM] Fennel: He whistles for Razzle to follow as he slides down on his clumsy human feets.
  281. [9:03 PM] Gin: Gin waits and watches, keeping his eyes on the others until they make it all the way down.
  282. [9:03 PM] Rosalie: If you hadn't already just checked and known the ledge was there, it would look like Xander had just jumped to his death. However, as you all draw closer, it was only a trick of perspective and he is quite safe on the lower ledge, which follows along the upper path and wraps around the corner.
  283. [9:03 PM] Xander: "Behold my descent!"
  284. [9:04 PM] Gin: "It does seem these Pokemon went out of their way to find a spot that's not so easily found. I hope we aren't intruding." Gin carefully slides down after seeing the others made it down safely.
  285. [9:05 PM] Fennel: "I hope we can get back up safely."
  286. [9:06 PM] Rosalie: As you continue along, you begin to hear a quite murmuring that slowly builds to a din of various excited pokemon noises. The path slopes upwards and eventually evens out with the original path, coming to a large alcove of sorts cut into the cliff side. Various pokemon species are spread out across the area, clustered around three points in particular.
  287. [9:07 PM] Fennel: He goes quiet and hides to watch.
  288. [9:08 PM] Rosalie: Your eye is first drawn to a Pansear standing at a flat, chiseled rock above a small fire. Fletchlings fly by occasionally, dropping off small sticks and other kindling, which the Pansear carefully feeds into the fire. On top of the rock are various berries, plants, and other potentially edible things. The monkey expertly flips the food and blows embers into the fire, occasionally flipping food off to the waiting fletchlings, digletts, geodudes, and trapinches.
  289. [9:08 PM] Gin: "Ah, jolly cooperation."
  290. [9:09 PM] Xander: "A Pokemon restaurant." Nodnod.
  291. [9:09 PM] Gin: Gin stands back as well, watching from a distance.
  292. [9:09 PM] Rosalie: Another stall is set up around a Numel, comfortably lying down on the rocks. A small metal grate has been placed over its blazing hump where more foodstuffs have been placed. More of the same pokemon grill their own food while the Numel basically naps. Each customer tears off a chunk of their own food and feeds it to the blissful looking Numel.
  293. [9:10 PM] Rhoda: "Now this I can get behind."
  294. [9:10 PM] Fennel: "Wow."
  295. [9:10 PM] Fennel: "Pokemon civilization is amazing."
  296. [9:11 PM] Rosalie: The last stall seems to be a small, improvised clay oven. A Magby supervises as a group of digletts carefully dig around, shaping the oven to the fire duck's specifications. When it's eventually satisfied. A few fletchling fly some sticks over and the Magby gets to lighting it. Almost immediately, it's swarmed with food requests, quickly shoving them into the oven.
  297. [9:12 PM] Rosalie: Several of the digletts seem to have a few dorky looking hair sprouts!
  298. [9:13 PM] Gin: "Must be nice to be a Fire-Type around here."
  299. [9:13 PM] Xander: "I didn't know Diglett could have hair...they grow more mysterious by the second."
  300. [9:15 PM] Rosalie: As the initial wave of excitement begins to die down and most of the pokemon have their cooked foods, some of them notice you. There is some pointing and murmuring before a Trapinch flanked by two Geodudes boldly strides up to you all!
  301. [9:15 PM] Fennel: "Oh, hey."
  302. [9:15 PM] Fennel: He squats down to have a look at them.
  303. [9:16 PM] Rosalie: Fennel, give me an Insightful check!
  304. [9:17 PM] Fennel: 1d20+5
  305. [9:17 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Fennel:
  306. 1d20+5:(12)+5=17
  307. [9:17 PM] Gin: Gin stays where he is and tries to gauge whether the Pokemon feel threatened by our presence or are just curious.
  308. [9:17 PM] Rosalie: This Trapinch actually looks...pretty nervous. It's clearly just trying to put on a show by being the first pokemon brave enough to greet the newcomers.
  309. [9:18 PM] Rosalie: Likewise, the Geodudes also seem rather unsure of what to make of you all.
  310. [9:18 PM] Fennel: "Don't worry, we're not here to cause trouble. Sorry if we're disturbing your meals..." he smiles at the Trapinch. "Hi!"
  311. [9:18 PM] Fennel: He... doesn't really have any gifts to offer.
  312. [9:18 PM] Fennel: But he remains calm and tries to put on a friendly air.
  313. [9:19 PM] Xander: Xander does some jazz hands from behind Fennel.
  314. [9:19 PM] Rosalie: Its mouth snaps excitedly at the air for a moment before it bites carefully onto your shoe and tries to...pull you towards the grills. Perhaps it's just trying to guide you? The Geodudes also float behind the others and try to shepherd them forward.
  315. [9:19 PM] Rhoda: "Hey, do you take these?"
  316. [9:20 PM] Rhoda: Rhoda pulls out her pebbles and shows them off.
  317. [9:20 PM] Fennel: He carefully maneuvers so that the trapinch doesn't just bite off that flower he was gifted earlier, but he walks along with them. "Over here?"
  318. [9:22 PM] Rosalie: The Geodudes deliberate over the pebbles Rhoda is showing off. They give her a nod, but try to wave the pebbles away. Meanwhile, the Trapinch has drag-guided Fennel over to the Magby, who sizes him up and holds up a roasted berry of some kind. The Pansear and the Numel watch from a distance.
  319. [9:22 PM] Rhoda: shrugs and pockets the pebbles.
  320. [9:22 PM] Rhoda: "Maybe they give you a check afterwards."
  321. [9:23 PM] Rhoda: Rhoda follows after Fennel and the Trapinch
  322. [9:23 PM] Rosalie: The Geodudes glide along with Rhoda as several of the Digletts work up the nerve to dig a little bit closer. These ones do not seem near as skittish the previous group.
  323. [9:23 PM] Xander: He waltzes on in, looking to inspect the wares.
  324. [9:24 PM] Fennel: "You want me to try this?" he takes it, gently. He remembers the others pinched off a bit of theirs.... So he does the same and offers it towards the Numel in the meantime, popping the rest into his mouth.
  325. [9:24 PM] Rosalie: (Only the ones using the Numel-grill were offering food to the Numel)
  326. [9:24 PM] Fennel: (Oh)
  327. [9:24 PM] Fennel: (I'm not sure which this one came from)
  328. [9:24 PM] Fennel: (Either way though, if that wasn't the case he tries the whole thing)
  329. [9:25 PM] Rosalie: The berry has a strange, leathery texture that quickly gives away to a more meaty inside. The taste leads with a burst of sweetness...only to very quickly become VERY spicy.
  330. [9:25 PM] Rhoda: "Good?"
  331. [9:26 PM] Rosalie: Give me a Focused check!
  332. [9:26 PM] Fennel: 1d20 OH GOD
  333. [9:26 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Fennel:
  334. 1d20:(5)=5
  335. [9:27 PM] Rosalie: THIS WAS A MISTAKE! Tasty, but oh my god what is happening?! Who would eat this?!?!?!
  336. [9:27 PM] Fennel: He nods along at Rhoda as he chews into it, and then sudden his eyes bulge out a bit and he tries not to spit the berry out. Tears well up in his eyes as he manages to swallow it, but he coughs a bit.
  337. [9:27 PM] Rhoda: nods her head.
  338. [9:28 PM] Rhoda: "Looks good."
  339. [9:28 PM] Rhoda: "Let me try some."
  340. [9:28 PM] Xander: Xander gives Fennel a pat on the back and a taste of his water flask. "There, there."
  341. [9:28 PM] Fennel: "Oh that's- Water!"
  342. [9:28 PM] Rosalie: The Magby hangs its head in defeat. Its diglett friends are quick to offer it consolation. However, upon hearing Rhoda, it rushes over with one for her too!
  343. [9:28 PM] Fennel: He grabs Xander's flask and downs it.
  344. [9:28 PM] Rhoda: Rhoda eats it without hesitation.
  345. [9:28 PM] Rosalie: Focused check!
  346. [9:28 PM] Rhoda: 1d20+5 FOCUS
  347. [9:28 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Rhoda:
  348. 1d20+5:(20)+5=25
  349. [9:28 PM] Gin: "Mmm, best I watch for now I think." Gin says after seeing Fennel's reaction.
  350. [9:29 PM] Fennel: "Aaaaaah the water doesn't heeeelp"
  351. [9:29 PM] Rhoda: "It's not so bad."
  352. [9:29 PM] Fennel: "Not so bad???"
  353. [9:29 PM] Rhoda: "Pretty good actually. You just need to toughen up." Rhoda whaps Fennel on the back.
  354. [9:29 PM] Fennel: "The flavor's good but holy crap that's way too spicy."
  355. [9:30 PM] Rosalie: You can feel the spice that did Fennel in, but you've had worse. More than the interesting taste, you really feel wide awake and invigorated!
  356. [9:30 PM] Fennel: He pants a little bit.
  357. [9:30 PM] Rhoda: "Wimp."
  358. [9:30 PM] Xander: He stands up.
  359. [9:30 PM] Xander: "Fine."
  360. [9:30 PM] Rosalie: The Magby literally jumps for joy and hugs Rhoda's leg! The pokemon all burst into excitement!
  361. [9:30 PM] Xander: He walks to the Magby. "My turn."
  362. [9:30 PM] Rhoda: nods. Yes. This is a normal reaction.
  363. [9:31 PM] Rosalie: A Diglett headbutts a berry to Xander like a volleyball. They all hush to watch.(edited)
  364. [9:31 PM] Fennel: "Well, they seem thrilled for you at least."
  365. [9:31 PM] Fennel: He downs more of Xander's water.
  366. [9:31 PM] Rhoda: "They know good taste when they see it."
  367. [9:31 PM] Xander: Xander slams it down."
  368. [9:32 PM] Xander: Focus, yes?
  369. [9:32 PM] Rosalie: Yes
  370. [9:32 PM] Xander: 1d20+2 bring it
  371. [9:32 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Xander:
  372. 1d20+2:(2)+2=4
  373. [9:32 PM] Xander: ...
  374. [9:32 PM] Xander: rip
  375. [9:32 PM] Rosalie: This
  376. [9:32 PM] Rosalie: This is the work of evil.
  377. [9:32 PM] Rosalie: A great devil has taken residence here.
  378. [9:32 PM] Rhoda: Rhoda is surrounded by babies
  379. [9:32 PM] Xander: His eyes water
  380. [9:33 PM] Xander: He walks over to Fennel, takes back his flask,a nd starts downing it
  381. [9:33 PM] Xander: he's crying
  382. [9:33 PM] Rosalie: The Pansear hops over and offers a bit of a minty smelling plant to Fennel and Xander, cackling in amusement.
  383. [9:34 PM] Rosalie: It chews on the stalk to show you what it's for.
  384. [9:34 PM] Fennel: The flask is almost empty when he hands it back.
  385. [9:34 PM] Xander: Through blurred eyes he sees a devil offer him fruit, and he initially refuses, but with no water to drink he gives it a shot anyway.
  386. [9:34 PM] Xander: Might as well backflip into hell.
  387. [9:34 PM] Fennel: But rather than capitalize on the hilarity of the situation, Fennel being the nice guy he is tops Xander up from his own water skin.
  388. [9:35 PM] Rhoda: In the meantime, Rhoda offers pebbles to the Magby, "What do I owe ya?"
  389. [9:35 PM] Fennel: He tries the minty plant, too.
  390. [9:35 PM] Rosalie: Xander, as you bite down into whatever poison this must surely be, you are surprised...the burning pain of the heat almost immediately subsides. The crisp crunch ain't bad either.
  391. [9:36 PM] Rosalie: The Magby shakes its head at Rhoda and continues hopping around her in celebration, making little puffs of smoke.
  392. [9:36 PM] Xander: He breathes a sigh of relief. "Thank you, strange demon."
  393. [9:36 PM] Rhoda: shrugs, "Not even a tip? Well, if you insist."
  394. [9:37 PM] Rosalie: The pansear reaches out and...just...awkwardly pats Xander's face? It doesn't seem to know what to do with you.
  395. [9:37 PM] Gin: Gin watches all this unfold with mild amusement. "These must grow nearby, but we haven't seen much vegetation." He remarks, without commenting on Fennel and Xander's hilarious predicaments.
  396. [9:37 PM] Fennel: He breathes a sigh of relief.
  397. [9:38 PM] Fennel: "Well, if they have a restaurant, they might even have a farm."
  398. [9:38 PM] Rosalie: Meanwhile, the trapinch is surrounded by a small group of the spectating pokemon. It gobbles down one of the spicy berries. After a moment, longer than Fennel and Xander made it, it starts chomping around wildly as one of the geodudes stuffs more of the minty veggie into its maw.
  399. [9:39 PM] Rhoda: (I'm beginning to suspect that Rhoda just won some kind of competition)
  400. [9:39 PM] Gin: "It looks like not all of them can handle the berries either."
  401. [9:39 PM] Xander: He accepts the pat, then stands up. "Well, that was...an adventure. I have begun to further understand the evils plaguing this world."
  402. [9:39 PM] Rhoda: "It's just spice. Nothing weird about that."
  403. [9:40 PM] Fennel: "Spices, huh... wonder if we could trade with them in the future."
  404. [9:40 PM] Rhoda: Rhoda clearly doesn't get what's so bad about it.
  405. [9:40 PM] Fennel: "Cuz, you know."
  406. [9:40 PM] Rosalie: The Numel eventually works up enough energy to walk...well at least closer to you all. Several Sandshrew lift up the metal grill, covered in various other cooked fruits and veggies and carry it over for you all to share. Given that none of the pokemon are watching quite as intently at this, it must just be what they normally actually eat.
  407. [9:41 PM] Fennel: "Thank you!"
  408. [9:41 PM] Fennel: He sits down to have a meal with these pokemon. :3
  409. [9:41 PM] Rhoda: Rhoda does as well.
  410. [9:41 PM] Xander: He tries one of the normal fruits, now, eyes somewhat leery.
  411. [9:41 PM] Fennel: He breaks out some of his rations as well to share.
  412. [9:41 PM] Rosalie: It's all tasty! Not all of it seems like it really needed to be cooked, but well, these pokemon clearly find cooking it exciting.
  413. [9:42 PM] Fennel: I bet.
  414. [9:42 PM] Rosalie: The Magby and Pansear excitedly accept the rations, running off to try cooking them. Even anything that was already cooked in the first place.(edited)
  415. [9:42 PM] Rhoda: "What kind of ingredients do we have back at base?"
  416. [9:42 PM] Gin: Gin rummages through his bag. Did the Fairies take all the tea? He comes up empty-handed. Yup, they took all of it. What a shame. He sits back and lets the others eat for the most part, but does release Tama to enjoy a bit of roasted fruit.
  417. [9:42 PM] Rhoda: "Maybe these guys could use some new stuff to cook."
  418. [9:43 PM] Xander: He lets Xipe Totec and Dark Flame Master sample some of the food, if they're so inclined
  419. [9:43 PM] Rhoda: releases Vinny to eat.
  420. [9:43 PM] Gin: "Somehow, I think they'll be less than enthused at the prospect of synthetic protein product, flavored with a dash of nothing."
  421. [9:43 PM] Rhoda: As soon as Vinny is out of his ball, he tries to run away, as he is surrounded by pokemon, but Rhoda just calmly nabs him by the tail until he calms down.
  422. [9:43 PM] Fennel: He calls over Razzle to enjoy some ofod too.
  423. [9:44 PM] Rhoda: "Eat."
  424. [9:44 PM] Rosalie: Fletchlings continue to soar in, bringing more sticks in as well as various raw berries and other foods. Some of them seem a little battered or bruised as they arrive. Watching their trails, they seem to be coming in from the forest, and the other pokemon are quick to take care of the ones that don't have the energy to continue their flights.
  425. [9:44 PM] Rhoda: Vinny eats.
  426. [9:44 PM] Fennel: He looks down towards the forest. "Aha, so that's how it is."
  427. [9:45 PM] Fennel: "Well, you're all lucky to have some very dedicated flighty friends."
  428. [9:47 PM] Rosalie: As you all relax and get a rather tasty snack in, the sun begins to peak over the cliff overhead, casting a shadow down on the alcove. The fletchling runs slow to a stop and many of the pokemon have fallen asleep for a nice after lunch nap.
  429. [9:48 PM] Fennel: He smiles a bit. "That was rather fun... Don't want to overstay our welcome, though."
  430. [9:49 PM] Gin: Gin eats a rather minimal amount of food himself as they all rest, spending the time cataloguing what they've seen so far in a journal for later. "We should bring them gifts of our own the next time we return."
  431. [9:49 PM] Rhoda: Where's that Trapinch? Is there some kind of hard feelings that I'm better at eating spicy food than he is?
  432. [9:49 PM] Gin: "But, I guess that means you all want to move on?"
  433. [9:50 PM] Xander: "But of course, the dark depths are still waiting to be plumbed."
  434. [9:51 PM] Rosalie: The Trapinch marches over to Rhoda. Its mouth snaps a few times and it tries to kneel before her, but its jaw hits the ground. It pauses to dig a little hole so that it can kneel properly to the victor.
  435. [9:52 PM] Rhoda: "Hmmm," Rhoda crosses her arms like a badass, and nods her head, "It's ten years too early to face me."
  436. [9:52 PM] Rhoda: "But you have potential. Perhaps I can train you."
  437. [9:53 PM] Rosalie: The Trapinch perks up a little, jaws snapping in excitement!
  438. [9:53 PM] Rhoda: "It won't be easy. I do indeed put that shit on everything."
  439. [9:54 PM] Rhoda: "Are you ready to walk the same path?"
  440. [9:55 PM] Rosalie: It thinks for a moment and turns back to its geodude friends. They nod sagely and one gives a thumbs up. The Trapinch then steps forward and carefully puts its mouth around Rhoda's shoe, like it had done with Fennel before!
  441. [9:55 PM] Rhoda: nods once again and digs out a pokeball and offers it to the Trapinch.
  442. [9:55 PM] Rosalie: Zwoop!
  443. [9:56 PM] Fennel: "Congratulations!"
  444. [9:56 PM] Rosalie: The Geodudes give Rhoda a nod as well before hopping back to settle in with the rest of their granite buds.
  445. [9:57 PM] Fennel: He finally gets up nad begins to stretch.
  446. [9:57 PM] Fennel: "Alright, let's see if we can get back the way we came..."
  447. [9:57 PM] Fennel: "Or if there's another way around."
  448. [9:57 PM] Gin: "Let's find another way."
  449. [9:57 PM] Xander: "I'm sure we can! Just need to hold on to our burning desire for good!"
  450. [9:57 PM] Gin: "Might be more interesting than retreading old ground."
  451. [9:57 PM] Fennel: "I'm not holding on to burning anything after that berry."
  452. [9:58 PM] Rhoda: "Next time we come through we should deliver some new ingredients for the diners here."
  453. [9:58 PM] Rosalie: As you all prepare to head out, the Magby rushes over, warble-quacking and waving!
  454. [9:59 PM] Xander: "Yes, yes, anything to give them stock that isn't from the Devil himself..."
  455. [9:59 PM] Rhoda: stops in case the Magby has something extra to say.
  456. [9:59 PM] Gin: Gin turns around and stoops down to greet it.
  457. [9:59 PM] Fennel: "Huh?"
  458. [9:59 PM] Gin: "Something the matter?"
  459. [9:59 PM] Rosalie: The Magby holds out a few more of the berries, wrapped in a leaf for the road.
  460.
  461. [10:00 PM] Gin: "Oh, that's very kind of you. And once again, I wish we came bearing gifts of our own."
  462. [10:00 PM] Fennel: "Oh, thank you!"
  463. [10:00 PM] Rhoda: Are these the spicy hell berries?
  464. [10:00 PM] Gin: Gin takes them and distributes to the others.
  465. [10:00 PM] Rosalie: They are indeed the spicy hell berries.
  466. [10:00 PM] Rhoda: Nice
  467. [10:00 PM] Fennel: "...I think." he says, much quieter when he notices what they are.
  468. [10:00 PM] Xander: He scrutinizes them.
  469. [10:01 PM] Fennel: But regardless he gives the Magby a pat on the head once Gin takes them.
  470. [10:01 PM] Xander: Then he smirks and takes one. "Something to share with the people back home."
  471. [10:01 PM] Rhoda: gladly takes her share
  472. [10:01 PM] Gin: "First chili peppers, and now this. Will we ever know flavors beyond heat?"
  473. [10:02 PM] Fennel: "A gift's a gift. We'll find use for them, I'm sure of it."
  474. [10:03 PM] Rosalie: The Magby doesn't seem to be quite done yet! It runs towards the area where you all initially entered and beckons you over.
  475. [10:03 PM] Rhoda: "Or you could just eat 'em. They aren't that bad. You're overreacting." Rhoda then follows the Magby
  476. [10:04 PM] Rosalie: It caaarefully steps towards the edge and hops over, revealing another hard-to-see path further down the cliffside. It blows some smoke to make sure you can see it!
  477. [10:05 PM] Xander: "Ah, many thanks, Satan Jr." He nods.
  478. [10:06 PM] Rhoda: "Ayup. Thanks."
  479. [10:07 PM] Fennel: "Tha- ...Satan Jr??"
  480. [10:07 PM] Fennel: He gives Xander a confused look.
  481. [10:08 PM] Fennel: "...Thanks." he finishes to the Magby.
  482. [10:08 PM] Gin: Gin nods his thanks to the Magby as well as he carefully follows, using his climbing tools if necessary to navigate the cliffside.
  483. [10:08 PM] Fennel: And then he starts heading out.
  484. [10:08 PM] Rosalie: The path curves down a sharp, but walkable incline and at the bottom it quickly opens up into...a natural quarry! Or...is it natural? It could simply have been abandoned after all. It's tucked between the mountains and the forest and would have been difficult to spot if you hadn't already known about it. From above, you can see a much easier path down than a sheer cliff. The Magby then bows to you all and scampers back to its friends.(edited)
  485. [10:09 PM] Fennel: "Oh, huh..."
  486. [10:09 PM] Xander: "Our path forward is clear."
  487. [10:10 PM] Gin: "You mean our way back home."
  488. [10:10 PM] Xander: "Or backward in this case."
  489. [10:10 PM] Gin: Gin adds this to his journal/map.
  490. [10:11 PM] Rosalie: Beyond a few roaming geodudes absently inspecting the rocks, it doesn't seem like anyone has laid a territorial claim to it and it's full of usable granite. It also offers an easier descent. Above you, the very loomy cave remains, as well as the bird-covered peak.
  491. [10:11 PM] Fennel: "This... we might could make use of all this."
  492. [10:11 PM] Rosalie: Or bird...peppered. Peaks aren't usually covered.
  493. [10:12 PM] Fennel: "Everyone cool with pressing on? I still want to check out that cave."
  494. [10:13 PM] Gin: "This feels like it was shaped by humans to me. A hundred years could easily wipe all the traces of course." Gin continues back up towards the cave.
  495. [10:13 PM] Rhoda: "Granite is granite. Good stuff."
  496. [10:14 PM] Rhoda: takes note of this area
  497. [10:15 PM] Fennel: He heads towards dat cave
  498. [10:16 PM] Xander: He makes the climb up to the cave.
  499. [10:16 PM] Rosalie: As you head back up, you pass through the same ledge you came down on. On the path above you, several Machops and Makuhitas pause to look down at you curiously before continuing on towards, you assume, your food-loving friends. It takes a bit of a running start, but you're able to get back up to where you started.(edited)
  500. [10:18 PM] Gin: Gin gives these Pokemon a friendly wave as well as he passes by.
  501. [10:18 PM] Rosalie: They tiredly return the gesture.
  502. [10:18 PM] Fennel: "Wonder what they got up to."
  503. [10:19 PM] Gin: "Sparring, perhaps?"
  504. [10:19 PM] Rosalie: You all take a moment to reappreciate the cave. If you didn't know better, you might think it was in fact looming even more than it did when you first saw it. There seem to be a number of more rocks around the entrance than there were initially. Though light does not penetrate deep into the cave, you can see some soft, glowing lights from deeper within, slowly pulsing.
  505. [10:19 PM] Fennel: "What's... this?"
  506. [10:20 PM] Fennel: He proceeds in carefully.
  507. [10:20 PM] Xander: He lets out Dark Flame Master. "Be our guiding light!"
  508. [10:21 PM] Gin: Gin lights the lantern tied to his bag, then slowly enters the cave. He makes no attempt to muffle his footsteps, so as not to accidentally sneak up on something.
  509. [10:23 PM] Rosalie: As you begin to enter the cave, you hear a distant crashing, like a heavy weight hitting the rocky floor. This continues at staggered intervals. Shortly into the cave you come across a pair of Morelulls, shedding bioluminescent light. They turn to one another, then back at you, waiting patiently.
  510. [10:25 PM] Gin: "Oh, don't mind us. Hope we're not disrupting anything with our lights."
  511. [10:25 PM] Fennel: He blinks a bit at them, but walks over.
  512. [10:25 PM] Fennel: He glances around for any sign of that sound's source too.
  513. [10:25 PM] Gin: Gin makes his way in the direction of the crashing sound.
  514. [10:26 PM] Xander: "A light within the darkness...shine on, my friends."
  515. [10:26 PM] Rosalie: It's much further in the cave, but the mushroom friends don't seem to react to it at all.
  516. [10:26 PM] Rosalie: One of the Morelulls scoots after Gin, offering its light, oblivious to the fact that he doesn't actually need it at the moment.
  517. [10:27 PM] Gin: "Ah, that's much appreciated. Thank you." Gin bends down and offers it his hand to climb into.
  518. [10:27 PM] Rosalie: It hops up onto his hand!
  519. [10:27 PM] Fennel: He walks along with the friendly glowy pokeon.
  520. [10:28 PM] Gin: Gin twists around to reach his bag and snuffs out the lantern with a puff of air. He then continues on into the cave, letting the mushroom friend light his way.
  521. [10:29 PM] Rosalie: As you continue deeper into the cave, you come upon another Machop and Makuhita, walking towards the cave entrance. The Machop is holding the hand of a small, scared looking Cleffa, and the Makuhita is guiding a small group of Nidorans. The fighting mons eye you suspiciously for a moment, before noticing the glowfriend escorting you.
  522. [10:30 PM] Gin: Gin waves at them.
  523. [10:30 PM] Rosalie: The Machop waves with its free hand, relaxing. The Cleffa hesitantly mimics the wave.
  524. [10:30 PM] Fennel: "Oh, another little community?"
  525. [10:31 PM] Xander: He gives a wave as well. "Admirable, the strong helping the weak."
  526. [10:31 PM] Fennel: He waves, too. "Lots of going to and fro..."
  527. [10:31 PM] Fennel: "That must be what tuckered the others out. They're guiding the pokemon here through?"
  528. [10:32 PM] Gin: "Must be, yeah." Gin stops a moment to observe. Does it seem like this is just a routine thing, or are the fighting types escorting these other Pokemon from danger or something?
  529. [10:32 PM] Rhoda: "There's a lot more cooperation out here than I expected."
  530. [10:33 PM] Rosalie: The pokemon continue on their way out of the cave. Continuing deeper, you eventually come upon another glowing pair of Morelull. The one on Gin's hand suddenly hops off and starts marching back towards the entrance as one of the new ones joins you.
  531. [10:33 PM] Gin: "Ah, it's a system."
  532. [10:34 PM] Gin: "The forest is lush with resources, the land there ripe with potential. So the competitive types flock there to fight and stake their claim. Up here, vegetation is sparse, and the land rocky and dry. Survival is then a matter of cooperation." Gin speculates as he welcomes the new mushroom friend.
  533. [10:35 PM] Rosalie: You continue past several more clumps of pokemon exiting the cave: several Aron, a group of Roggenrola staying waaaaay behind the Aron, and a couple of Timburr, seemingly as exhausted as the fighting types you passed previously.
  534. [10:35 PM] Fennel: "I think I definitely prefer the communities over the battlefields."
  535. [10:36 PM] Xander: "I wonder what it is that makes all the fighting types so tired, though. Perhaps some demon lurks below?"
  536. [10:36 PM] Fennel: "Maybe there's unfriendlies here too."
  537. [10:37 PM] Rosalie: Gin, none of the pokemon you passed seem particularly panicked, so it doesn't seem like this is a particularly unusual circumstance!
  538. [10:37 PM] Rosalie: Furthermore, the exhausted fighting types did not have any obvious injuries.
  539. [10:38 PM] Gin: "This seems par for the course for them though."
  540. [10:38 PM] Xander: "Hmmmm, they must be hard at work at some kind of manual labor then..."
  541. [10:38 PM] Gin: Gin bends down near one of the Aron though and releases Tama. "Could you ask what's going on here? Ah, but only if it's not too much trouble for one of them to stop a moment to humor us."
  542. [10:40 PM] Fennel: Fennel spends his time taking in the scenery.
  543. [10:41 PM] Rosalie: The arons look towards the Wooper, halting in their tracks. This causes a commotion a bit further down with the Roggenrolla halting...well mostly, one of the rear ones falls flat on its...face?, which causes a chain reaction of rock friends falling over. Tama woops excitedly at the Aron, which clicks back. Tama then turns to Gin to relay the information with a series of Woops, as one does. Gin, you hear a bunch of woops.
  544. [10:41 PM] Gin: 1d20+5+1d6
  545. [10:41 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Gin:
  546. 1d20+5+1d6:(14)+5+(1)=20
  547. [10:42 PM] Rosalie: Ah, you know the inflection of these woops. There is some sort of hazard ahead that these pokemon are avoiding!
  548. [10:42 PM] Gin: "Ah...I didn't mean...sorry." Gin watches the domino effect. "Hm, so there's a danger ahead?" He nods to Tama. "Good to know, thanks."
  549. [10:43 PM] Rosalie: The Arons continue on their way as the Roggenrollas pop back up into formation.
  550. [10:43 PM] Gin: Gin looks over at his companions. "Yeah I'm going to guess you all want to see what it is up ahead."
  551. [10:44 PM] Xander: "How'd you guess?" Griiiiin
  552. [10:44 PM] Xander: Oh god that's kind of creepy in the dark
  553. [10:44 PM] Gin: "Lead the way then."
  554. [10:44 PM] Fennel: Fennel shivers.
  555. [10:45 PM] Xander: "By the dark light, all shall be revealed!" he and Dark Flame Master take point!
  556. [10:45 PM] Fennel: And then he heads on, nodding. "Any sort of hazard is worth knowing about and relaying back to the others, right?"
  557. [10:45 PM] Rhoda: Rhoda shrugs and heads forward
  558. [10:45 PM] Rosalie: The distant crashing sounds have grown increasingly loud as you continue. The tunnel suddenly opens and illuminates. The source of the light is immediately apparent: several Elekids are taking turns giving off controlled flashes. Across the chamber is large heap of rocks, and as your eyes adjust to this strange form of lighting, you can make out a number of humanoid shapes pulling rocks from the pile and tossing them aside. A Machamp stands imposingly in the center of the room, directing other pokemon. More Machops and Makuhita are hard at work trying to clear the debris, with the help of a Nidoking, a Nidoqueen, and a lone Rhyhorn. More Nidoran mill about, barking and squeaking at their parents. Several Aron chow down on the discarded rocks.
  559. [10:46 PM] Rosalie: As you all approach, the Machamp quickly turns to face you. It seems absolutely puzzled, but beckons you forward. The Morelull makes a series of light pulses.(edited)
  560. [10:46 PM] Gin: A cave-in or rockslide? Gin stops to assess the situation before proceeding.
  561. [10:47 PM] Fennel: He blinks, but walks forward to have a look.
  562. [10:47 PM] Xander: "I see, I see..." He starts trying to figure out the cause of this...
  563. [10:48 PM] Rosalie: There are fragments of discarded rocks all over the place, and several stalactites that have fallen and shattered on the floor. The rocks seem like they fell from a shaft that was opened from up above and have spilled out.
  564. [10:49 PM] Rosalie: A male nidoran and a female get into a game of chicken, slowly creeping closer towards you all before eventually getting told off with a bark from one of their parents.
  565. [10:49 PM] Gin: "I'm not sure how much we can help here, but it seems wise to at least make a show of good will here." Gin puts the Morelull on his shoulder, then moves forward to grab some of the more reasonably sized rocks to move aside.
  566. [10:50 PM] Fennel: He smiles a bit at the cute rabbits, but then looks at the collapse, then over at the Machamps with a quizzical expression.
  567. [10:51 PM] Xander: Might as well lend a hand. He's not strong enough to get the real big bits, but he figures he can get some of the smaller stuff out of the way.
  568. [10:52 PM] Rhoda: "Maybe there's something we can set up to make moving this all out of the way a little easier."
  569. [10:52 PM] Rhoda: "We still have our climbing gear, right? Rope and hooks and things? I could probably Jury-rig something."
  570. [10:52 PM] Rosalie: As you have more time to assess the situation, it actually seems like they've managed to clear away a LOT of what surely must have fallen originally. Most of the debris has been pushed to the edges, and the Aron have been assisting with clean up. The Machamp nods appreciatively. Until...a very large rumble starts somewhere deeper within.
  571. [10:52 PM] Fennel: "Uh oh."
  572. [10:53 PM] Xander: "A demon!"
  573. [10:53 PM] Gin: "This wasn't a natural cave-in then." Gin says, tensing up.
  574. [10:53 PM] Rhoda: was about to start setting up a system of ropes and pullies to make moving the rocks easier, but stops when she hears the rumble.
  575. [10:56 PM] Rosalie: The Machamp and Nidoparents spring into action, quickly directing the fights mons and the rhyhorn to either guide the little ones out or at least get them to safety. The Machamp steps between you all and the pile of rubble just in time as a massive rock snake bursts forward. Expertly, the Machamp karate chops a staggering amount of debris out of the way, shielding you all from the initial burst. As they prepare to fight, the Onix bashes its head against the cavern, causing more large rocks to fall! The Machamp and Nidos manage to hold off the biggest chunks, but it's taking all of their concentration! Roll20 time!
  576. [10:57 PM] Rosalie: The Onix rooooaaaars and two Cubones hop off its back, drawing their weapons menacingly.
  577. [11:02 PM] Rhoda: (There we go now I can hear)
  578. [11:02 PM] Rosalie: (Can you control your tokens?)
  579. [11:02 PM] Rhoda: (Yes)
  580. [11:02 PM] Rosalie: (Goood)
  581. [11:03 PM] Rosalie: Hokai, Gin!
  582. [11:03 PM] Rhoda: (I grabbed a Fuzzy Charm)
  583. [11:03 PM] Gin: Tama rushes forward and coats herself in bubbles before sliding towards Cubone A!
  584. [11:03 PM] Rosalie: And Xander!
  585. [11:04 PM] Gin: 1d20 ac 3 bubble slide

  602. [11:06 PM] Rosalie: And with that, Cubone A's terrible reign....was cut very short.
  603. [11:06 PM] Gin: "Tama, take the front. Protective stance." Gin's lackadaisical demeanor disappears immediately as soon as combat begins. His eyes dart over the battlefield, gauging position and opportunity.
  604. [11:07 PM] Rosalie: With a ROAAAAAAAR, the Onix charges forward to avenge its fallen comrade! Rage on Tama! (This is the one I shenaniganed :V)

  609. [11:07 PM] Gin: hittu
  610. [11:07 PM] Fennel: Though it looks like he may leave this to Razzle.
  611. [11:08 PM] Rosalie: 2d6+6 Despite that roar and its size, it is not that strong, but Onix gains a Rage Counter.

  628. [11:12 PM] Rhoda: As an Order, I would like to inflict the ENRAGED status on Vinny, and he is enraged by Cubone B, giving him +1 initiative for the rest of the scene.
  629. [11:12 PM] Rhoda: And then Vinny runs up and uses Bubble slide on the Cubone

  645. [11:15 PM] Rosalie: The Cubone yelps in abject horror, because what EVEN is this water nonsense, that's not a thing you fight in caves!
  646. [11:15 PM] Rhoda: Oh
  647. [11:15 PM] Rhoda: Fuck
  648. [11:15 PM] Rosalie: Fennel!
  649. [11:16 PM] Rhoda: Well ok
  650. [11:16 PM] Fennel: Razzle climbs on dem rocks cuz she's totally a goat and she unleashes a vine flurry from her neck growth.
  651. [11:16 PM] Rhoda: I like the old one better ;_;
  652. [11:16 PM] Rosalie: Gross. I mean, roll it!
  653. [11:16 PM] Fennel: 1d20 Vine Whip

  658. [11:16 PM] Rosalie: You missed the giant slow moving rock snake!
  659. [11:16 PM] Rhoda: (The version I have didn't have Dash)
  660. [11:17 PM] Rhoda: (Oh well)

  673. [11:18 PM] Rosalie: I don't think you really need to roll damage, cuz that thing is dooown
  674. [11:19 PM] Rosalie: Xander!
  675. [11:19 PM] Gin: "Tama, take a deep breath and center yourself." Gin says calmly but authoritatively. Enduring Fighter Order to give her a Tick of HP
  676. [11:19 PM] Xander: Dark Flame Master calls upon the dark powers!
  677. [11:19 PM] Xander: 1d20 Night Shade on the Onix!

  691. [11:22 PM] Rhoda: (Oh I think I did my Orders wrong. I now understand how it works I think. Also OUCH)
  692. [11:22 PM] Rosalie: Gin!
  693. [11:22 PM] Xander: "How devilish!"
  694. [11:22 PM] Gin: Tama holds on!
  695. [11:23 PM] Gin: Tama spins around! Tail Whip! Then slings mud at the Onix's eyes!
  696. [11:23 PM] Gin: 1d20 ac 4 tail whip
  697. [11:23 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Gin:
  698. 1d20:(10)=10
  699. [11:23 PM] Gin: -5 def for 1 round

  704. [11:24 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Gin:
  705. 4d6+4+8:(4+1+2+4)+4+8=23
  706. [11:24 PM] Gin: and -1 speed
  707. [11:25 PM] Rosalie: Sturdy! Damage gets capped at 50% of Onix's health, reducing it slightly (if Sturdy still works that way, idk)! Also Onix's rage grows and weak armor counteracts the speed loss
  708. [11:25 PM] Rosalie: Although it did the same damage sturdy would have capped it to actually.
  709. [11:25 PM] Fennel: Razzle goes for the ol' razzle dazzle with some more whips!
  710. [11:26 PM] Fennel: 1d20 Vine Whip
  711. [11:26 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Fennel:
  712. 1d20:(2)=2
  713. [11:26 PM] Rosalie: Razzle is too distracted by that cute little glowing mushroom friend on Gin. Like, has anyone even SEEN something like this before?!?!?!
  714. [11:26 PM] Rhoda: So apparently my affliction is cured at the end of each round and I reset it, but I get +1 initiative every time he's afflicted with rage so I can essentially enrage him every single round and gain MORE initiative every round? Also I should have been rolling those AC checks at -2 because of rage. So I'm going to do that unless I'm interpereting this wrong. Rhoda uses an ORDER to inflict the enraged status, Gains +1 Initiative for the rest of the scene, and then Slams him with another bubble slide.
  715. [11:26 PM] Fennel: 4d6+4+15 I'm rolling damage anyway just to see what it would have been
  716. [11:26 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Fennel:
  717. 4d6+4+15:(6+2+1+4)+4+15=32
  718. [11:26 PM] Fennel: oh that's before attack
  719. [11:27 PM] Fennel: that'd be 40 damage if it had hit
  720. [11:27 PM] Rhoda: 1d20-2 Bubble slide! AC2 and He rushes forward and then disengages before the attack
  721. [11:27 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Rhoda:
  722. 1d20-2:(18)-2=16
  723. [11:27 PM] Rosalie: Well that definitely hits
  724. [11:27 PM] Fennel: In the mean time
  725. [11:27 PM] Fennel: With the rest of his turn, Fennel moves forward and gives a shout. "For Dawn Stone Hills!" he calls out.
  726. [11:27 PM] Rhoda: 4d6+4+7+5 plus 5 for RAGE and WATER TYPE
  727. [11:27 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Rhoda:

  730. [11:27 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Fennel:
  731. 1d20:(15)=15
  732. [11:28 PM] Fennel: Noble Roar - Normal Status - Scene x1 - Minor Action - AC 3 - Range 4, 1 Target - Social, Sonic, Critical Sum - The target suffers a -5 penalty to Damage Rolls for one full round, and you gain a tick of temporary hit points. Noble Roar’s Frequency is restored whenever you cause a target to faint with a damaging attack.
  733. [11:28 PM] Rosalie: The wimpy bug manages to take down the titanic snake! As the Onix goes down, it coils itself protectively around the cubones.
  734. [11:28 PM] Rhoda: (So I've discovered that Crusher is really good you guys)
  735. [11:28 PM] Fennel: Fennel lets out a noble roar at... basically nothing and feels embarassed about it.
  736. [11:28 PM] Fennel: "Oh."
  737. [11:29 PM] Gin: Gin gives him a reassuring pat on the shoulder.
  738. [11:29 PM] Rhoda: Rhoda nods
  739. [11:29 PM] Rhoda: Vinny, released from his rage... is suddenly afraid and runs away, towards his trainer
  740. [11:30 PM] Xander: DFM seems a bit down, and Xander gives him a reassuring pat. "I am sure the dark will heed your call next time. You can do it."
  741. [11:30 PM] Rosalie: By the end of the fight, the Machamp and Nidos have all managed to push the boulders off to the side, and avoided anyone getting crushed, yay! They look over you all with respect. Machamp goes to shake all of your hands simultaneously.
  742. [11:31 PM] Fennel: He shakes, though poor Razzle. Once the Machamp is done with him he gives the goat head scratches.
  743. [11:31 PM] Rosalie: Behind the Onix, the way has mostly been cleared, and light has begun to flood the new opening!
  744. [11:32 PM] Gin: "Good job, Tama." Gin shakes the Machamp's hand, then rushes forward to administer a Potion to his Wooper.
  745. [11:32 PM] Gin: "I wonder what caused this fight though."
  746. [11:34 PM] Rosalie: The Onix clings to consciousness, rumbling aggressively as it coils tighter around its young wards. The Machamp gives it a DISAPPROVING FROWN and points at the various smallmons they were protecting.
  747. [11:34 PM] Gin: He walks over to the Onix and kneels down, seeing if he can coax it back to awareness. "And just what were you doing, hm?"
  748. [11:34 PM] Fennel: "Yeah, that's not cool. Be more careful, you guys."
  749. [11:35 PM] Rosalie: The Onix looks between you all, and around the chamber. It watches how the Nidorans cower behind their parents, clinging to them.
  750. [11:35 PM] Rosalie: It then looks down at the two cubones, who are still VERY ANGRY that they lost, but clinging to their own rockmom.
  751. [11:39 PM] Rosalie: From behind you all, the Numel comes up...carried by several Machops. They set it down carefully and begin handing food out to everyone, including the Onix and the cubones. The cubones are hesitant and look up at the Onix, who nods carefully. They take a small nibble...and then a bite...and then they chow down, excitedly. The onix gives a bashful look to the Machamp, who points at all of the rubble around, gestures towards some of the exhausted pokemon, and then points at the Onix with a stern expression.
  752. [11:41 PM] Rosalie: Some of the Nidorans have wandered over towards the Cubones, another game of chicken. The cubones cautiously step forward as well. Rock mom cautiously unfurls from them, and the kid mons walk up to one another. One of the cubones pokes one of the nidoran, who in turn pokes its sibling before scampering off...and suddenly a game of tag begins!
  753. [11:42 PM] Rhoda: "Alls well that blah blah blah."
  754. [11:42 PM] Rhoda: "What now?"
  755. [11:42 PM] Rosalie: The rock snake sighs in apparent relief and nods to the Machamp, carefully clearing some more of the rubble before pulling itself to the side of the chamber, revealing the way forward.
  756. [11:43 PM] Gin: "I guess we see." Gin stands up and walks through the opened way.
  757. [11:43 PM] Fennel: "There we go... Gotta love a happy ending."
  758. [11:43 PM] Fennel: He follows Gin out.
  759. [11:44 PM] Rhoda: follows as well
  760. [11:44 PM] Xander: "Ah, another realm of darkness, purified~." He says, leaving.
  761. [11:45 PM] Rhoda: I'm just following along with whichever way the Onix opened
  762. [11:49 PM] Rosalie: The light at the end of the tunnel quickly grows larger, and it's not long before you find yourself outside again. Rocks litter the ground virtually everywhere; it seems this area saw extensive rockslides, though it's not clear if that was due to the Onix or just occurred over time. The sun hangs low to the west as evening approaches. You have a clear view of the horizon before you: an expansive desert lies far to the northwest, presumably the Karastan Desert. And down at the bottom of the mountain just ahead of you, you all see a number of old world structures, some partially buried under rubble.
  763. [11:50 PM] Gin: "We're on...the other side?" Gin looks around.
  764. [11:51 PM] Rosalie: In the distance, above the cave behind you, you can barely make out the peak you saw on the other side. Seems like you crossed through!
  765. [11:51 PM] Rhoda: "Seems so."
  766. [11:51 PM] Xander: "Not as deep as I'd hoped..."
  767. [11:52 PM] Fennel: "Wow..."
  768. [11:52 PM] Gin: "Well, I think the view is quite nice."
  769. [11:52 PM] Fennel: "Guess we should set up camp, then... though I don't think we're equipped to go through a desert."
  770. [11:52 PM] Fennel: "This time around, anyway."
  771. [11:53 PM] Rhoda: "We went a little further than we thought. Sounds like a good idea to set up camp and then turn back."
  772. [11:53 PM] Gin: Gin shakes his waterskin. "One step at a time, yeah."
  773. [11:54 PM] Rosalie: Aaaand, that looks like a good place to call it!
  774. [11:54 PM] Gin: (can Gin stop by the grove on the trip home and try to convince the Tangela to come back with him? :O)
  775. [11:54 PM] Rosalie: (Yes, did you wanna play that out real quack?)
  776. [11:54 PM] Gin: (Sure)
  777. [11:55 PM] Rosalie: Yadda yadda yadda, At some point during the return trip, as they're passing the Grove, Gin feels a tapping against his leg!
  778. [11:56 PM] Gin: "Hm?" He looks down.
  779. [11:56 PM] Rosalie: It's the Tangela, adorned with several more flowers than it had before. However, this time it is holding up a variety of leaves to Gin!
  780. [11:57 PM] Rhoda: Same! Thanks for running! It was fun
  781. [11:57 PM] Gin: "Oh, more gifts! Thank you again. But what can I offer in return?" He stops to observe it a moment and figure out whether it'd be more impressed by
  782. a) the stone from the cliffside OR
  783. b) one of the SPICY BERRIES
  784. [11:57 PM] Gin: (or maybe just a seed from the berry)
  785. [11:58 PM] Rosalie: The flowers the Tangela has are all quite vividly colored, perhaps it has a fondness for color!
  786. [11:58 PM] Rosalie: Also roll me insightful with your fancy tea boon
  787. [11:58 PM] Gin: 1d20+5+1d6
  788. [11:58 PM] BOTGM's Toolkit: Gin:
  789. 1d20+5+1d6:(16)+5+(3)=24
  790. August 25, 2018
  791. [12:00 AM] Rosalie: Of the leaves the Tangela was holding, three of them seem to just be oak leaves. One of them matches the type of tea leaf you had offered to the Tangela in the sachet before. And the last one...well you haven't actually encountered it, but it certainly seems like it could be used for tea!
  792. [12:02 AM] Gin: "These smell quite nice. Herbaceous and light, a good fit for spring." Gin remarks, wafting one of the leaves under his nose. "Say, how about this." He leads the Tangela toward the center of the grove with the rock and pulls out some of the garnet-encrusted rock pieces from his bag. "I'll bring whatever cool rocks and other colorful things I find here for the grove, and you come back with me and help me tend the tea garden? And we can go on adventures too, if you're up for it."
  793. [12:06 AM] Rosalie: The Tangela considers your offer, but it seems unsure. As it waffles, the Venusaur, having been resting nearby, lumbers to its feet and approaches Gin. It gets reaaaaaal close, and sniffs the leaves he's holding. It holds his gaze for a moment, as if peering into his soul, before stepping back and gently nudging the Tangela towards him. The Tangela hops excitedly and runs up next to you, ready to follow.
  794. [12:07 AM] Gin: "Alright then." Gin grins. "We'll be back, soon and often, don't worry." He says to the Venusaur with a bow before catching up to the others with the Tangela in tow.
