  1. Iroith is the God of Mirrors, Masks and Marionettes. Generally regarded as a neutral God, Iroith resides within the Human Pantheon and consequently is technically ‘worshipped’ by everyone who recognizes the Human Pantheon and worships any of its members.
  2.
  3. Iroith is, first and foremost, the patron of actors, performers, directors, playwrights and other similar individuals. It is also seen as the patron of service people, and anyone else who must, as part of their daily lives, put on an act. Finally, its more morally ambiguous side causes it to be seen as both the patron of and destroyer of liars, cheaters, and those who keep secrets.
  4.
  5. When dealing with it in an earnest manner and from a good place, Iroith is an uncomplicated God who provides genuine assistance. Iroith loves to help the creative, and many famous playwrights and actors credit Iroith for their success, or at least quietly issue prayers to it before shows. Iroith gives creative inspiration to writers and directors, and helps guide performers in invisible ways. It is sometimes called the God of the Stage for this reason. In this regard, with these people, it seems to selflessly care for those it oversees.
  6.
  7. Iroith also typically is seen to represent fashion and beauty, and makeup is often marked subtly with its symbol. This is partly due to its strong association with mirrors, and partly because makeup and fashion are, in their own ways, part of an act—a presentation. Acting doesn’t always have to imply deceit, after all.
  8.
  9. And, many service workers, salesmen and others in need of charisma and composure that are not natural to them seek its care. A salesman who simply needs help with his business acumen might turn to Bihrot, but Iroith is the one who can help him put on a mask that will endear him to his customers and business partners.
  10.
  11. This leads to Iroith’s darker side, however. Iroith is not against helping those with poor intentions. Perhaps that businessman’s mask hides that he’s selling snake oil, or perhaps that charming smile he’s able to put on disarms the business partners he intends to stab in the back. Iroith frequently extends its assistance to those who wish to deceive others.
  12.
  13. Whether it’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing, whether it’s someone keeping a dark secret and cloaking it in lies, whether it’s someone crying crocodile tears, Iroith helps all the same. Its creeping influence seeps from behind the mirror, inviting liars and deceivers into its arms, offering to adjust the masks they wear and weave their lies more tightly than they ever could.
  14.
  15. Sometimes, this is it—Iroith helps them, without question. Other times, though, Iroith leads them to doom, binding them in a web of lies that ultimately destroys them. Whatever Iroith chooses to do seems based purely on its own entertainment, treating people like marionettes. Sometimes, its entertainment involves the demise of the liar—but it has likely ruined the lives of everyone around its target just as well by allowing their deceit to go on for so long and to become so deep.
  16.
  17. Iroith has limits. Invariably, it ties its strings tight around the cruelest and most vile of people, often shepherding them straight into ruin before they can harm others more. The worst of the worst seek Iroith’s assistance in keeping their secrets, but end up choking in the strings it pulls. Iroith is merely enamored by the ugly side of people—as much as it adores masks and acts, it is perhaps most of all interested in what lies beneath all of it—and what happens when all of that is exposed.
  18.
  19. What attracts it most is human drama. Infidelity, embarrassing secrets, double lives. To invite Iroith into your drama is a dangerous game—it may choose to help you, to cloak you from the consequences… but only if it finds that outcome more interesting than the alternative.
