- 1:00 PM] Lancer: hello
- [1:00 PM] NerdyVampire: Good afternoon Lancer
- [1:01 PM] Lancer: Are you ready to start?
- [1:01 PM] NerdyVampire: Yes, what is the procedure for the interview?
- [1:02 PM] Lancer: I'l be asking you some questions, in the form of scenarios, and you will answer them. Simple as that.
- [1:02 PM] NerdyVampire: Alright, should I answer out of my current knowledge or may I make use of the wiki when I am in doubt?
- [1:03 PM] Lancer: Use your own judgement. I don't think you'll find anything in the wiki anyway
- [1:03 PM] NerdyVampire: Alright
- [1:04 PM] Lancer: Before we start, as cciaa you can check the round type, antagonists, see faxes and EBSs.
- [1:04 PM] Lancer: Now
- [1:05 PM] Lancer: An OOC friend of yours has filed an Incident Report on an extended round against some character. The IR in question appears to be sitting on the forums, unclaimed, for quite some time. What would you do?
- [1:06 PM] NerdyVampire: I would claim it, but to ensure objectivity I might request that another CCIAA be brought in
- [1:07 PM] NerdyVampire: Though, I would imagine I can maintain objectivity on my own.
- [1:07 PM] Lancer: Alright
- [1:08 PM] Lancer: You receive a fax around the half hour mark, from the station's CMO. They are the only head of staff on at the moment. The fax is about an individual claiming to be a miner. He is not on the manifest though. The CMO says that his ID appears normal, but they were caught hacking a door into the Bridge. They offered no resistance, and agreed to be charged by security. The CMO is asking if the miner is a legit employee. What do you do?
- [1:10 PM] NerdyVampire: I am unsure if this situation warrants the use of a fax, as this is not really an emergency. I would inform the CMO that they are indeed not an employee and request she proceed per procedure with the relevant charges.
- [1:12 PM] NerdyVampire: The relevant charges would in this case be attempt at infiltration and forgery
- [1:13 PM] Lancer: Would you do that right away?
- [1:13 PM] NerdyVampire: No, I would give the antagonist some time to adjust to the situation
- [1:14 PM] NerdyVampire: And potentially escape
- [1:14 PM] Lancer: alright, moving on
- [1:14 PM] Lancer: An individual has filed an Incident Report against a character. After a few moments, you see that a new Incident Report was filed by the same player, against the same character. The author of the IRs has used two different characters of his to file the IRs. What do you do?
- [1:18 PM] NerdyVampire: I will read the two reports, presumably the player has played two different characters in the same round and feels that both have sufficient arguments to consider the incident reports unique. If they do indeed have unique perspectives, I would treat them as unique reports and respond in kind. If not I would contact the player and request that he choose one to stand and delete the other. If in doubt I would contact a fellow CCIAA for their advice
- [1:19 PM] Lancer: I see
- [1:20 PM] Lancer: In an Incident Report, it appears that a vaurca janitor has filed against a group of human cargo technicians. The vaurca reports that the humans harassed it throughout the shift, in a verbal and even light physical manner. You find that there are witnesses that confirm that the cargo technicians indeed were harassing the vaurca. What actions would you take? Would they be different if it wasn't a vaurca?
- [1:25 PM] NerdyVampire: If the vaurca janitor did not attempt to resolve this issue by either contacting the head of personell or captain, or the command team, (if either of these were present) then there are ground for considering that not enough effort has been put in for resolving this matter in round. The harassment of vaurca makes sense roleplay wise, as they are the target of much hatred from some groups. However, it is not NanoTransen policy to condone harassment in any form, so I would schedule an interview with the characters in question.
- [1:26 PM] NerdyVampire: Most likely this would result in an injunction from any further harassment
- [1:28 PM] Lancer: the question aims to see if you will use bias in favour of the humans
- [1:28 PM] Lancer: So I assume that would be, a no.
- [1:28 PM] NerdyVampire: No I would not
- [1:28 PM] Lancer: alright
- [1:28 PM] Lancer: In an Incident Report you have claimed, an offender and a witness have failed to respond to your calls for an interview, via forum. It is now 5 days since you contacted them. What do you do?
- [1:30 PM] NerdyVampire: I will wait another two days and if they still have not responded I will inform the players of their failure to respond and if they have good reason possibly provide extension
- [1:31 PM] Lancer: they still don't respond
- [1:31 PM] NerdyVampire: Then I will abandon the case. They have been contacted twice and that is enough
- [1:31 PM] NerdyVampire: And by abandon, I mean close it
- [1:32 PM] Lancer: Alright. Now let's say that they do contact you, but you are in totally different timezones/have trouble scheduling an interview
- [1:32 PM] Lancer: what do you do
- [1:33 PM] NerdyVampire: I will ask if any other agents in a more fitting time-zone are available to take the case. Otherwise we will have to attempt to find a time that fits both of us
- [1:34 PM] NerdyVampire: Otherwise, we could use digital format and conduct the interview in character over discord or the forums, though I prefer IC if possible
- [1:34 PM] NerdyVampire: And I expect the other party would as well
- [1:34 PM] Lancer: alright
- [1:35 PM] Lancer: On a secret round, you receive an EBS from a janitor who found themselves with the captain's spare, stating "HELP! ERT IS NEEDED FAST!". What do you do?
- [1:37 PM] NerdyVampire: Hm I would send a fax to active head of staff requesting their immediate response. If no response is given by command staff within a suitable period of time, I would investigate if an ERT is a possibility and then dispatch it.
- [1:37 PM] Lancer: how would you investigate that
- [1:38 PM] NerdyVampire: I'm not certain to be honest. As far as I know players can register to be part of the ERT team, I expect that agents have this information available?
- [1:39 PM] Lancer: the odin doesn't really know what's going on, unless a fax or EBS is sent
- [1:41 PM] NerdyVampire: Oh I mean whether players are available to take the emergency response team roles. If CC has received a distress call and the station seems to be without proper command to respond to my inquiries, then I would feel inclined to put together a response team
- [1:43 PM] NerdyVampire: However, if that is not possible then the best I could do is send the emergency shuttle. The janitor doesn't provide sufficient information, however I wouldn't disregard it.
- [1:44 PM] Lancer: right
- [1:44 PM] Lancer: While you are in game, playing as your CE, Central Command receives a fax from the CMO, requesting CC's input an an argument between them and your CE character. What do you do?
- [1:46 PM] NerdyVampire: The CMO is faxing CC over an argument? Unless this is a command decision of vital importance to the station that they are arguing about, then that's a misuse of the fax.
- [1:47 PM] NerdyVampire: And I assume there is no captain or head of personel to mediate
- [1:47 PM] Lancer: An argument regarding station affairs, and yes, you are alone.
- [1:48 PM] NerdyVampire: I would respond non-committally to either side and demand that they work this out between themselves, as they are trained to do, or file an incident report after the shift.
- [1:48 PM] Lancer: Right
- [1:49 PM] Lancer: What do you think the prurpose of Incident Reports is?
- [1:52 PM] NerdyVampire: To provide a medium for character actions to have a lasting impact on their career and record, as given by the perspectives of other players. It is not meant for complaints against the player itself, but against the characters in their roles.
- [1:53 PM] NerdyVampire: I would use it when I feel that a non-antag player has misused their authority or have otherwise created a scenario in which their character is exposed as dangerous or incompetent
- [1:54 PM] Lancer: alright
- [1:54 PM] Lancer: What do you think the CCIA responsibilities are, as members of staff?
- [1:55 PM] NerdyVampire: Staff as in IC staff, or staff as in the server staff?
- [1:55 PM] Lancer: server staff
- [2:00 PM] NerdyVampire: To me they represent an interaction layer between the more permanent underlying lore surrounding Aurora (specifically NanoTransen) and the characters that develop through the situations on the Aurora. As such, they must provide a believable representation of the corporation when interacting with players, use this underlying lore as material when affecting player characters and be an administrative authority in regards to the IC rules and regulations, as well as the handling of these incident reports. They are expected to be approachable about clarifications in the rules and regulations for the players, so they can roleplay a proper understanding of them.
- [2:01 PM] Lancer: alright.
- [2:01 PM] Lancer: That's all the questions.
- [2:02 PM] Lancer: Got anything final to add, maybe?
- [2:03 PM] NerdyVampire: I think you've gotten an accurate impression of my understanding from these questions and my application. I'd admit I did look up the incident report format to clarify how long the interview deadline was
- [2:03 PM] Lancer: yeah it's fine.
- [2:03 PM] NerdyVampire: And I was almost expecting a trick question concerning the nuclear launch code
- [2:03 PM] NerdyVampire: ^^
- [2:04 PM] Lancer: welp, with that, interview ends.
