  13. [On Great Siqar’s geography]
  14. [The Dominion of the Niaquqite of Great Siqar remains firmly tied to the island of Great Siqar, in the days before the coming of Akna-who-bore-Sedna the island was termed Ross Island. The isle if dominated by its two active volcanoes, the Flame of Akna being the larger of the pair in its current state being the second largest island mountain at a whopping 4409 meters with the volcano even now slowly growing through it’s contained eruptions, the second volcano, the Flame of Sedna woke with the arrival of Akna-who-bore-Sedna lags behind its sister at current estimates 3901 meters. The careful and constant directions of the eruptions allows the residents of Great Siqar to exploit the lava flows, the main settlement and capital of the island Qiiquarahemenasaq is home to an estimated 40000 individuals, being half buried into Great Siqar’s northernmost mountain of the same name. Small settlements are spread out across the north end of the island’s shore away from the southern facing lava flows. The largest being port settlements being Siqiimarak and Ketiimaqasar, housing the majority of the islands port infrastructure. The islands settlements are deeply embedded in the rock of the island, allowing access to the underground hot springs and underground moss farming. This coupled with seals, penguins, fish and fast growing kelps in the nearby waters to the island allow for self-sufficiency.]

  16. [On the Niaquqite Proper]
  17. [The Dominion of the Niaquqite is governed by its unique government bearing the same name, organized around the head of state, the Niaquq. Requirements to attain the position include prior military service, the respect of peers outside of one’s own clan and senior age. The Niaquq hold the position from election until death, the clans of the Niaquqite convening to discuss candidates. Only with firm consensus of the Clan Assembly is a Niaquq elected, the severity of the situation abroad Great Siqar dictating how long this process takes, being anywhere from a day to several weeks. The Niaquq has authority over all clans barring orders that would break legal code or enrich the Niaquq’s own clan over others. The system allows great autonomy among the clans of the assembly however in serious matters the Niaquq is allowed hefty control. A special position without power is reserved for the Marabout who roused Great Siqar. The Marabout advises the Niaquq and is allowed to question any clan head. While any clan heads and advisors are free to refuse this questioning it is considered a seedy action and can earn ire from the rest of their clan being grounds for removal if it is repeated. Any citizen or foreign visitors are allowed to attend Clan Assembly meetings, citizens being termed ‘Aggat’ while foreign expats are titled ‘Naujaq.’]

  28. [On the Resident of Great Siqar]
  29. [The peoples of Great Siqar and those that swear loyalty to the great mother Akna-who-bore-Sedna as revealed by the Marabout are a strange hardy breed. Hair colour is either white as the snow or as black as volcanic rock, being much thicker than northerner hair with the hair line typically extending a ways down the back. The average height of men is only a little over five feet with women typically being slightly taller. Despite the physical strength of the average local far exceeds what an outsider would expect of their height and build. Siqarans grow long claws from both their fingers and toes, which if allowed to grow can be quite dangerous if somewhat unwieldy. A growing Siqari goes through two sets of more human-like teeth before receiving their final set at the onset of puberty, the final teeth are fanged with a strong bite from most adults able to bite a northerners hand cleanly off. The skin of Siqari begins pale but darkens to an onyx sheen with the onset of puberty. While it isn’t the norm many residents also possess and extra set of arms that marks them and their fellows as ‘descendants of Sedna’s first children’ the monstrous six legged polar bears of legend. The Siqari are well fitted for their native climate, able to go long periods without food or water, swim in the Antarctic waters like northerners would a warm pool and are so thickly constructed low caliber firearms only serve to annoy. Siqari also have unusual breeding practices, only able to carry children when mother and father agree to the act ensuring the children are kept and upheld. Twins are the norm for a single pregnancy with triplets being a common site in larger communities, fatalities from pregnancy being extremely almost unheard of. The Marabout herself is also constructed with these norms, though she is slightly shorter than most men, burdened by the weight of wisdom as she is.]

  35.
  36. [On the Social Etiquette of Great Siqar]
  37. [The society of Great Siqar is focused on strict awareness of the self and the bonds between its members. To act outside of the self or to purposefully sever the bonds of others be they connected to the self or not is a mark of great shame. This is not to say that one cannot break a connection but one must be earnest in their dissatisfaction and forward, if they are then there is no shame carried in such action. There is great social mobility within the clans with dishonorable children of high members falling to the bottom of their clans while skilled and honorable members may rise to lead them. Not much formality is placed on things barring clan gatherings and formal greetings for elders and individuals of great respect. Cordial treatment however is very much expected, and a lack of such is considered grounds for simply exiting conversation. This statement is particularly true with outsiders with those that earn the respect of locals finding great trade opportunities within the clans while imperious sorts tend to leave the isle empty handed. Sexuality while considered a largely private affair is open between individuals, homosexuality while far from the norm is not shunned. Occasionally such pairings serve to further alliances between the clans as a lack of children allows for more time spent elsewhere.]

  39. Neotraditional attire (Quality + Pragmatic)
  40.
  41. [On the Attire and Fashion of Great Siqar]
  42. [The attire of the residents of Great Siqar is fashioned from the furs and leather of the great Qus bears, descended from the original polar bears brought by the Marabout to Great Siqar and Qus Seals that likewise came from the north. Both species have grown much larger than their ancestors, as single seal able to cloth an adult while a bear might provide sufficient material for a whole family. The hides are expertly treated being both comfortable to wear, warm and thickly protective being a second firm skin to the island residents. Clothes are decorated with scrimshaw fashioned from the bones of the islands fauna and polished volcanic rock carvings, some of which are marked with runes to various effect.]

  44. Lavender Sect – Shrines – Periodic Rites – Tithes – Festivals
  45.
  46. [On the Religion of Great Siqar]
  47. [While described as esoteric and heretical by outsiders, the worship on Great Siqar works well for the natives. Focused around the worship of Akna-who-bore-Sedna (commonly attributed to be Teiatat-in-Lavender) there are many other small gods scattered across Great Siqar, the most prominent of which is Sedna or Sedna-of-the-Ocean whose esoteric nature remains largely hidden to outsiders. Offerings are laid before the shrines for the islands resident fauna with homage typically being laced with milk or blood, depending on the honouring the practitioners wishes to make. Shrines are simple in make carved from the islands stone but are numerous being found across the island each to a different god or spirit. Rites of worship are considered a private affair shared with the self, kin or lovers. Payments are made by the clans towards their heads that contribute to the upkeep of the shrines and the festivals of Akna-who-bore-Sedna and Sedna-of-the-Ocean, held at the beginning of summer and winter respectively. Marked with fireworks, drinking and feasts, the festivals are about the only time when outsiders are openly welcomed by the average resident, creating a healthy tourism situation during these occasions. Those whose intentions lie in debaucheries are advised to be of high physical health, as the average Siaqari stamina and force has been known to maim or kill weak natured sorts that underestimate native capacities.]
  48.
  49. [On the Language of Great Siqar]
  50. [There is no singular dominate language in the Niaquqite despite its relatively small population. Many clans speak a single tongue while sharing and intermixing with other major languages. The most prominent languages are English, Innuktut, Finnish and Icelandic, however notable numbers of Haida, Iroquois, Basque, Yiddish, Lavender Tongue and Ainu speakers.]

  54. [On the Clans]
  55. [Clans form the assembly of the Niaquqite, each clan affording patronage, assigning labour and manpower for the military and bringing petitions to the Assembly and the Niaquq. Those born outside of the clans or wish to join the society revealed by the Marabout are automatically assigned to the clan of her, who may in time allow them to form or join another clan if they manage to earn the prospective clan’s trust. The binding of clans is sacred and considered to be vital loyalty to clan second only to the Niaquqite, direct kin and Akna-who-bore-Sedna. All members of every clan are equal from newborns to elders, with the Marabout being no different. Clans carry wide ranges of marking tattoos and piercings with great pride being held in well-crafted handiwork in such markings. All clans are allowed words and a sigil, though many exchange the sigil for plaid or words.]

  58.
  59. [On Legal Affairs of the Niaquqite]
  60. [Legal affairs on Great Siqar revolve between three realms, the self-realm of personal honour, the realm between individuals and the realm of clans. Typically the shame of mundane actions coupled with fines are considered enough for petty acts of theft, the offenders clan often taking the brunt of fees while making their disgraced kin work for their keep, with actions of violence also being solved through finage. However great acts of violence may prompt action, between individuals or clans who may call for Osiiq, ritual bleeding as an act of restitution. When taken by clans the greatest of fighters will be sent against the offenders clan, who if deemed guilty or unworthy will be left to struggle on their own. For actions that disgrace Akna-who-bore-Sedna or acts of sexual violence a mark is laid upon the offender until they redeem themselves in the eyes of their victim, marking themselves and their clan with terrible shame. If a second mark is ever laid the offender’s shame will be so terrible their only recourse is death fighting the bleak whales of the ocean. Outsiders who lack the capacity for native shame are shipped off to their home nations with clans of the victim demanding restitution. The only time this does not happen is the case of violence, where Siqari are allowed to defend themselves by any means they deem fit.]

  62. Orgone Subsidization – Lore of Stone & Rune – Leyline Manaducts – Anchor Monoliths
  63.
  64. [On the Runeworks of the Niaquqite]
  65. [The Runework of Great Siqar is unique, plucked from the hands of the Marabout, the resident’s runes are unlike any other found in the world. Allegedly (and most heretically) the runes were scripted from the bones of Akna-who-bore-Sedna, the questions of their origin remain up for contention in scholarly circles abroad. Whatever the case they come to affect most aspects of life on the island, powering most of the resident’s equipment and tools and allowing for a quality of life and communication unheard of in many dominions in the north. Weapons are also fashioned from the marks in great scale from simple fire-arms to (allegedly) full artillery and anti-air banks. Such weapons are highly sought after abroad for their quality, durability and firepower. The greatest of the Niaquqite’s Runeworks are the titanic monoliths that scatter the island. The purpose of the monoliths remains a mystery. Styled after the ancient Dorset carvings of old, the marabout sanctifies the stones with blood once every year and once with milk, at the beginning of the summer and winter respectively.]

  70.
  71. [On Great Siqar’s Environs]
  72. [The climate of Great Siqar, the surrounding waters and the nearby mainland of Antarctica have changed radically to the benefit of the residents and the extreme detriment of outsiders. Those not bearing marks given by the Marabout signalling friendship will find the residential fauna terribly hostile. Boats not marked with stonework and runes will be sunk by the terrible bleak whales and boarded by the terrifying Qus bears. Even the gulls, seals, penguins, lemmings and foxes turning out of their way to assault outsiders. However for the residents who are acclimatized and bound the island’s beauty is apparent, from the gentle volcanoes to the welcoming ocean, from the hot springs to the settlements there is great beauty found here. The island also has great wealth in its ever replenishing volcanic rock, weaponry, runework, fur exports and fine scrimshaw.]

  79. [On the Marabout, Revealer of Akna-who-bore-Sedna]
  80. [The Marabout of Great Siqar seems to be a strange creature, bound without crown, only a Bindi and a nose chain composed of Lavender Rhodochrosite marking her position. Short by even local standards, fangs small and claws short, she acts as a central pillar of the community. She wields no true power, only advising the clans and the Niaquq, in Qiiquarahemenasaq she seems to be the aunt of many, a willing ear to any who seek consul and a shoulder to cry upon. But any with harm in their hearts for the people of Great Siqar know that something terrible lies underneath this face. Rumors persist of what exactly the Marabout is, but there are some shared rumors, all branching from a single event. A delegation sent from the Ivory leagues had brazenly overstepped their bounds, assaulting a youth of Qiiquarahemenasaq before her. From her skin came a light so blinding it was like the sun itself had descended to earth, but even amidst the bright whiteness, a terrible pair of yellow eyes could be seen. Eyes that filled every outsider with terror. What happened next is unknown, every alleged regailer of the tale having fled outright. After, the ivory league cut all ties with the island and its inhabitants. Unwilling perhaps to engage a beast dug in the blinding white of Antarctica for some expensive stone and injured pride. Still, the threat remains implicit, the Marabout does not lead, but guides and protects. Allegations of her connections to alternate facets of Teiatat-in-Lavender are extremely unwelcome in most rigid autocratic crownships and orthodox religious practices.]

  94. [On The Niaquqite’s Foreign Relationships]
  95. [The Niaquqite of Great Siqar is divisive to say the least, its relative isolation, inhospitable environ and low population marking what should well be a crownship of no regard. However it’s brazen unwieldiness to bend in the face of Ivory League and Mandate demands would normally be punished with annihilation. It has not been, being deemed sacrosanct with allegations of direct consultation from the Emissary. This is contrasted with the seemingly obscene levels of chastity the inhabitants display (at least to outsiders) and the seemingly borderline heretical nature of the island’s doctrines. Pax Tres Solium reigns in the South Pole, with an addendum however, marked as the Highland Doctrine. The Niaquqite remains neutral in all affairs outside of Antarctica, however if a crown of willing virtue and righteous cause makes a plea to the peoples of Great Siqar, the Niaquq has no authority to stop volunteers from aiding the crown in question. Aggat soldiery are highly disciplined and dreadful to oppose in combat, reveling in being cornered. Outside of the Highland Doctrine the Niaquqite only maintain formal relations with the even further alleged south ‘elder covenant’ who import Siqari stone and trinkets. The presence of the sin eater in Antarctica makes this relationship seemingly impossible to outsiders. There are allegations the Niaquqite would be willing to expand the Highland Doctrine into a full alliance, however no substance remains to be seen.]
  96.
  97. [On Trade]
  98. [The Self-reliance of the Niaquqite makes trade more of a thing of luxury for the dominion than a necessity, trade usually being orchestrated by the clans with exports of the islands natural resources, craftworks and services being the primary exports. Imports are typically focused around luxuries, silk of bright colours for decoration, greenery, electronics that can be interfaced with the island’s power grid and medical equipment which remains to be the most important import.]
