- He was as good as dead.
- His friends were gone. Tortured in inexplicable ways, made to be the Prince's toys.
- His abilities were absolutely no match, unable to overcome him alone.
- He couldn't do anything as he was tied up and made to watch every moment of torture, from human pincushion, dismemberment, waterboarding... Anything that gave the Prince glee beyond compare, he used, and he used until they were either dead or they were of no more amusement to him. And those who were no longer amusing found themselves dangling above a furnace for a moment before feeling the heat consume them completely.
- Nothing. Absolutely nothing. The voices and spectres of his friends suddenly echoed in his mind.
- "Why did you let it happen?"
- "Where were you?!? Where... WHERE?!?"
- "why did you let me die, i thought you loved me like family"
- Regret, guilt, sorrow built up in his heart as the illusions swirled around him, his sword useless against them even if he could use it. Dragged like a ragdoll before the Prince's feet without even noticing, the illusions becoming stronger, screaming at him with vitrol, yelling about all his flaws, his weaknesses, everything. All the armor he built to resist the utter hatred nobles had for him, a peasant that rose beyond his station, and the Prince found each and every chink and pried them open to pick at the pathetic sack underneath.
- Death awaited as his life was toyed with. Let it come.
- So he thought, until the final spark of confidence came to him. The sword was bearing down his neck... and...
- VROP.
- But life came with a price. He lived, but he lost all he loved and cared for.
- And, perhaps, a part of himself, as he looked down to see a bloody stump where his leg should be and screamed loud enough to awaken the gods.
