The loud/aggressive dominant type is at the mercy of his emotions. He is out of control. His behavior can be altered or manipulated by addressing those emotions to - for example - soothe or further enrage him. Even while playing the submissive, you are aware that you have a degree of power over him.

Your current guy, on the other hand, you say is “calm and authoritative”. There is nothing to manipulate. He will do what he will do, and you will submit to it.

There’s some quote that I cannot find right now that roughly says “look for the man who gets what he wants with no display of power, he is the one who is really in charge”.
