Revised Script

Narrator: This is Thomas. Thomas is a circle and he is off to work. He has a big report due, and if he doesn’t finish it today his boss will most likely fire him. Thomas works in an office with lots of other circles. Thomas’ boss, Jim, is a strict man who does not like him. You see, Thomas was once in the same school as Jim and Jim disliked Thomas even then. Thomas always got getter grades than Jim and that made Jim angry, because he had to work really hard while it came naturally to Thomas.

Jim only has the job that he has now because his Father owns the parent company. Jim has had the job lined up for him since before he was born. Thomas doesn’t think that's fair but he knows that's how life is. Thomas is fine with his job, he makes a solid $80,000 a year. Sure, it’s not the seven digits Jim makes, but Thomas has a nice life. He has a 2 story house and lives in a nice neighbourhood. He also lives within walking distance of his job, which is good since he still doesn’t own a car, even though his friends keep telling him to get one because he never drives when they go out. But Thomas insists it's not worth it, since he would rarely use it anyway.

We’re getting off track here. Back to Thomas and the project. Thomas hasn’t finished it yet because his laptop broke with his report on it. Jim isn’t happy to hear that but he gives Thomas until the end of the day to finish it. So, Thomas gets to work. It’s not like he has a choice. Because Jim would never listen to reason and just wait the day or two until the laptop is fixed. Jim wants to get Thomas fired and this might be his moment.

But after 8 hours or work Thomas finishes it. He heads home exhausted after a long day of work. Arriving home he unlocks his door and he sits in front of his TV. He flicks it on to catch the end of the 5 o’ clock news. Thomas sees a breaking news bulletin. He sees Jim being dragged out of the office in handcuffs. He then sees the banner scroll across the screen saying “Drug Lord captured. Over $5 million in drugs and illegal cash has been seized.” Thomas is shocked to learn that his boss was a drug lord, but smiles knowing Jim will be away for a long time, and that he is the most qualified to take Jims job. Looks like today turned out to be a great day after all.
