  1. Start: 7 pm, Midsummer 31, 401
  2.
  3. The party's romp through the markets of the Viszudar were interrupted by Kaliero's funeral. It appeared to be a major event in the area.
  4.
  5. While they looked on, an unfamiliar man made his way through the crowd to speak with them. He introduced himself as Sahil, and claimed he was Kaliero's aide, which they were immediately suspicious of. They knew Kalerio had an aide, but had not previously been introduced.
  6.
  7. Kaliero's body was openly displayed for all to see. This was tradition for high ranking members of Viszudar society. Symbolically, the bodies are placed on a high peak and given a sky burial. The spirit of the tradition is to return those who have accomplished great deeds during their life to the goddess, and they are given to the birds to feast on.
  8.
  9. After the funeral, the party agree to return to Kaliero's study with Sahil. They brief him on the situation to the south. Sahil seems eager to send a diplomatic envoy to the giants, to deal with the Fortisskari threat, once and for all. The party cautioned him against this, as it may be a war zone presently. He cautiously relented and agreed not to, for now.
  10.
  11. After discussing more of the events that took place during their journey to the south, Sahil speculated Mortwin might either indirectly or directly be responsible for the curse befalling the southern lands. His circlet worked in that cursed place after all, and it most likely only could do so if its creation stemmed from the same place that caused the curse.
  12.
  13. In passing, he revealed the drymire to the north is another dead magic zone. Necromancy and restoration magic do not work in that place.
  14.
  15. The party questioned him about the harpies holding fort Vendraal. Sahil had the following to say about harpies.
  16.
  17. They are often simple and barbaric. Widely, they are known for raiding and kidnapping other humanoids. They are exclusively female and kidnap males to procreate with and consume. They bear many foul gods and have a fetishistic animistic religion. Often, they do not band together in societies greater than tribes, and are a good negative indicator of a region's health. They are often simple enough to be led along for a short time, as long as they are well fed and rewarded by charismatic individuals.
  18.
  19. Sahil briefly introduced the political situation of Izzero. He mentioned two houses, the Koshkas and Vatatzes which lord over Izzero. He seemed to believe one of the houses could be goaded into assisting the party in storming the fort. In short summary, he seems to think either of the two houses could be led down this path, with the following caveat: the Koshkas are significantly weaker, but may be installed as a puppet, and the Vatatzes are stronger, but are considerably more sinister and may not be trustworthy.
  20.
  21. The party mulled this over, and did not seem too interested in the affairs of foreign nobles.
  22.
  23. Vasileios sought guidance from Isha. She gave the following direction: The ocean blue is long but true, the path by land is torn by man. If lives you seek to save, seek conflict.
  24.
  25. The party set up alarm wards on the ship, and sent it, with the homunculi, 12 hours before their departure to Izzero.
  26.
  27. "AAAAAHHHH THEY'RE ON THE BOAT. WEE WOO WEE WOO WE'RE IN TROUBLE GENTLEMEN AND LADIES, OH ISHA WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME VASILEIOS?" is the alarm.
  28.
  29. The passphrase is "I love Isha."
  30.
  31. The party had some last minute purchases, which Sahil, via his page having recently returned from Rivenport facilitated.
  32.
  33. They departed overland in the morning, and made their way to outlying farms outside Izzero. They saw smoke, and approached anticipating battle.
  34.
  35. They interrupted cultists in the process of burning fields, and initiated combat.
  36.
  37. XP: Delayed until end of combat.
  38. End: 8 pm, Foreautumn 2, 401
