  1. Success is something the majority of people strive for nowadays. But do most people have a clear idea of how they exactly define success, how it is achieved and what it takes? Is there really luck involved, or is it just straight up hard work?
  2.
  3. There is no arguing that achieving success is a matter of multiple variables. Determination and hard work surely are some of them. Determination gives us an impetus of setting up goals, which become the cornerstone of success. For example, Marie Curie (Madame Curie) determined to finish her husband’s lifetime unfinished work after his death and eventually discovered radium.
  4. However, determination alone is not enough; efforts are also very important as without hard work determination is of no value. It has been well said that ‘Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety nine percent, perspiration’. Take the example of businessmen. Only those succeed who have determination and who put in a lot of sweat and toil in their business. Luck cannot help you sell your products.

  6. Whether or not luck is involved is arguable. There surely is a link between luck and success, as in being born into wealth, being at the right place at the right time, etc. however by constantly pushing yourself, working hard and working smart you expose yourself to more situations where you can be ‘at the right place at the right time’.

  8. In conclusion, a powerful background of money as well as other factors, that may be considered ‘lucky’ can help some people to succeed. However, excessive reliance on these factors can do more harm than good in the long term.
