  1. "The Green Manalishi" by Cyris Winheim
  2. When play begins, say "You slowly open your eyes as you awaken, the back of your head throbbing with pain. You do not immediately recognize your surroundings, or anything else, for that matter. As you get to your feet, you realize that you cannot remember who you are or how you arrived here. Whatever happened, it seems you have ended up in a small chapel of some sort..."
  3. The Chapel is a room. "You appear to be standing in a small chapel. There are five rows of pews on each side of the center aisle, which leads up to a large wooden podium. The podium has been knocked over on its side, and on the wall behind it is a magnificent stained glass window that seems to loom over the entire chapel. The large double doors opposite the altar are to the south, and appear to be the only way out."
  4. The row of pews are scenery. They are in the chapel. The description is "The pews are made of wood, and look moderately uncomfortable to sit in. On closer inspection, however, you find a gun laying on one of these seats."
  5. The altar is in the Chapel. It is a supporter. "Just below the stained glass window is the altar. Draped over the altar is an unsettling-looking black veil. There appears to be something on the altar, beneath this veil."
  6. On the altar is a veil. It is scenery.
  7. A body is a supporter. The description is "This mysterious woman is not breathing, and seems to have no pulse. From the looks of it, the wound in her chest must have done her in. As you ponder who could have done such a horrible thing, you notice what appears to be a ring of car keys clutched in her right hand."
  8. Instead of taking the veil:
  9. Increase the score by 1;
  10. Now a body is on the altar;
  11. Remove the veil from play;
  12. say "Just as you pull the black veil off of the altar, the sight of what was hidden under it leaves you reeling in shock, for on the altar lay the body of a woman with blood poured out of her chest and onto the altar itself!"
  13. The ring of keys are on a body. The description is "These car keys seem familiar to you somehow."
  14. After taking the keys:
  15. Increase the score by 1;
  16. say "You pry the ring of car keys out of the woman's hand. She won't be needing these anymore, and you are going to need a way out of here."
  17. The gun is in the row of pews. The description is "A .38 Special, from the looks of it. There aren't any bullets in it."
  18. After taking the gun:
  19. Increase the score by 1;
  20. say "You pick up the gun. If it's here in the chapel, it could probably mean only one thing..."
  21. The stained glass window is scenery. The description is "It's an amazing window displaying a trio of crosses. It gives the whole chapel a sacred air, but is otherwise unremarkable."
  22. The podium is scenery. The description is "It's been knocked over on its side, as if from a scuffle right here in the chapel."
  23.
  24. The Parking Lot is south of the chapel. "The small white chapel stands out in stark contrast to the vast blackness of the night sky. The parking lot in front of the chapel is currently empty, with the exception of a car parked in the space closest to the front doors. The only way out of the parking lot appears to be to the south."
  25. The Road is south of the parking lot.
  26. The Car is south of the parking lot and north of the road. The car is a door. The description is "It looks like an REO Speedwagon. It's in good condition, and seems very familiar to you somehow."
  27. The ring of keys unlocks the car.
  28. After unlocking the car:
  29. Increase the score by 1;
  30. say "You try one of the keys on the car door, and it fits perfectly. You successfully unlock the car door. The Speedwagon appears to be in working condition, which is good because you had better report the grisly scene you awakened to to the police station immediately. Luckily, you seem to remember exactly how to get there."
