  1. [12:25] Nicholas Philly grabs the application folder and looks at Matt and says " Okay, Mr. Mapp we're here today for your interview for the Position of Police Officer with the Cedar Creek Police Department, This interview will be recorded for review by the hiring board should the recommendation to hire be made. Do you agree to have this conversation recorded for that purpose?"
  2. [12:26] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): yes I do
  3. [12:26] Nicholas Philly nods "okay, great so Why do you want to work in Law Enforcement?"
  4. [12:27] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): I want to help make my community a safer place for the citizens living in it and I dont see a better way to do that then being an officer with CCPD and working with guys and girls that are of the same mind set
  5. [12:29] Nicholas Philly shuffles himself in the chair a bit, this was surely not as comfortable as his office chair but considering the circumstances this was the best he had at the moment, "So tell me about yourself"
  6. [12:32] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin) adjusts his tie a bit "Well Ive always wanted to help people in a time of need or just be the guy thats stopping bad guys from doing bad things. Moved to Cedar Creek after retiring out of the Navy and just kinda trying to find my place in the civilian world"
  7. [12:33] Nicholas Philly takes a few notes and continues "is this your first experience in law enforcement role play?"
  8. [12:33] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): No its not
  9. [12:35] Nicholas Philly nods "okay so what would you say about your previous boss?"
  10. [12:36] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin) chokes trying to hold back a bit of laughter "Assuming you mean the fire chief for CCFD?"
  11. [12:37] Nicholas Philly shrugs "no one in particular it's your choice who you speak about or what you say during this interview."
  12. [12:38] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): Well he's my most recent previous boss. My honest opinion of him is he isnt suited for that high level of a leadership role and lacks the knowledge of what a leader actually means
  13. [12:39] Nicholas Philly takes a few notes and continues "Have you ever used medications or drugs that were not prescribed to you by a doctor or used them in a manner in which they were not prescribed, including use of any recreational drugs?"
  14. [12:39] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): No i have not
  15. [12:40] Nicholas Philly nods "How would your friends describe you?"
  16. [12:41] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): they would describe me as straight forward though a bit of an asshole at times but I am also loyal and passionate about things I do and what I believe in
  17. [12:41] Nicholas Philly writes something down "Okay, so tell me about something in your life that you would consider to be your greatest failure or regret, what you did about it, and how you learned from it."
  18. [12:45] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): hmm greatest failure or regret, Id say my greatest failure or regret would be not making chief petty officer due to a bad judgement part partly on my behalf but what Ive learned is to speak up quicker and a bit nicer when I dont agree with a decision made by someone higher up then me or to just keep my mouth shut
  19. [12:47] Nicholas Philly takes a few more notes "Okay, sir you said you were enlisted in the military, how were you discharged?"
  20. [12:48] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): listed as under honorable conditions
  21. [12:50] Nicholas Philly nods "okay so this is a scenario question, your out on patrol and you decide to stop at the local market, while inside you see a family member put an item they have not paid for into their pocket, what do you do?"
  22. [12:52] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): I quietly approach the person announcing myself as a police officer and my name. Then I politely suggest to them that they put the item back on the shelf where they got it or take it up to the cash register and pay for the item
  23. [12:53] Nicholas Philly shrugs "So, how would you react if you knew a fellow officer was committing a crime?"
  24. [12:56] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): The same way as if it were anyone else commiting a crime. Just because cops carry a badge and gun doesnt exclude them from following the law
  25. [13:02] Nicholas Philly nods "okay would you mind elaborating on that a bit, please explain how you would handle the situation, in that would you call them out personally, would you report them to leadership etc."
  26. [13:03] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): I wouldnt call them out personal Id follow my chain of command and let them handle it how they see fit to handle it
  27. [13:05] Nicholas Philly nods "okay so on your application we asked you what the most powerful weapon in an officers arsenal is, your answer was voice, can you explain to me what you meant by that answer?"
  28. [13:08] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): An officers voice is their most powerful weapon because in most cases its easier to talk with a suspect or victim and get them to work with us or help in a case. WE use our voice far more then any other tool on the duty belt
  29. [13:09] Nicholas Philly nods in agreement "okay good, so moving on just a few more questions and I'll let you get back to it. On your application we asked you about Probable Cause, can you explain to me what Probable Cause is?"
  30. [13:11] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): Probable Cause is having possible evidence of a crime thats been commited. IE pulling over a drunk driver, probable cause would be the driver swerving the car and driving all over the road that would give me possible evidence that a crime was being commited and I had reasonable cause to make the stop
  31. [13:15] Nicholas Philly nods "okay, true answer but not what I was hoping for you to say, so I'll have to lead you where I want you to be with this line of questions here. So Probable Cause is the requirement for a law enforcement officer to make an arrest, conduct a search, or receive a warrant. On the application we asked you what kind of search your allowed to conduct having established probable cause, your answer was only correct in part, so let me ask you this. In the case of a traffic stop if you as the officer have established Probable Cause what are you allowed to do as far as searching the subject and their vehicle?"
  32. [13:16] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): as far as searching the subject and vehicle Im allowed to do a full search of the subject and vehicle
  33. [13:18] Nicholas Philly nods "right, okay moving on to the portion of this interview where I'm going to ask you about your employment with the CCFD, can you explain to me in as much detail as you can what your side of the story is?"
  34. [13:19] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): Happily will
  35. [13:22] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): About a week ago when Lt Hui was shot in the leg outside the fire house I had come down to see what was going on and having a ciggarette when the shots were fired. I ran over to the ambulance to grab the trauma bag when I was told by Lt Furby Faulkland to get in the truck, I simply stated the call was 30 meters from us and we could walk to it. I was then told by Lt Faulkland to do as Im told and get in the truck so I did just that and then she got the truck stuck coming out of the bay so I didnt want to waste anymore time hoped out with the trauma bag and ran over to begin rendering aid
  36. [13:24] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): Later on I tried speaking with Chief Nate Diggity about the situation and how lt Faulkland seemed to have a chip on her shoulder and was continually snapping at me to not question orders. That led to a discussion with Asst Chief Ray that I decided to end because it was leading no where and I had to leave for my RL job. He took offense to it and ended up "firing" me for the FD
  37. [13:35] Nicholas Philly nods taking some notes "okay so when you said you were speaking with Assistant Chief Watson you decided to end it, aside from the fact you say you had to leave for RL work, why is it that you felt you as a Firefighter wouldn't get fired for ending it and not requesting to put it on hold until you had the time?"
  38. [13:40] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): I decided to the conversation because I felt he wasn't truely listening to me nor really cared about what I had to say and that the conversation was just turning into more of an argument. I wasnt concerned if I was going to be fired knowing my history with Chief Diggity I had my suspicions that they were looking for an excuse or trying to get me to do or say something to have reason to fire me in retaliation of past incidents with Chief Diggity while he was under me in other departments.
  39. [13:40] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): end*
  40. [13:43] Nicholas Philly nods "okay, so past history aside if you were in the position of Assistant Chief or Chief and you were discussing with a subordinate a matter of discipline and they decided to end it, would you consider that a fire-able offense?"
  41. [13:46] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): For me personally it would all be based on how the subordinate decided to end the conversation. Ive always been one to try and discuss a subordinates actions with them and try to understand where they're coming from. I dont think its 100% a fire-able offense if someone wants to end a conversation
  42. [13:47] Nicholas Philly nods "okay so final question, why should the CCPD hire you?"
  43. [14:01] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): CCPD should hire me because Ill always be around when other officer arent and here to help whenever its needed. I also have a vast amount of knowledge in the field that I think I could pass to other officers and help them do their job better and safer
  44. [14:04] Nicholas Philly takes a few notes and shuffles some papers around putting them not so neatly back in the folder since he had no where to put things down, he would stand up placing the messy folder under his left arm and reaches out with his right hand to shake Matts, "alright man." he would say "that about does it, sorry that took so long had a few more questions to go over with you then normal, but from here I'll submit this information to the hiring board and dependent upon their collective decision you will receive word back from us within a few days one way or another. So unless you have any questions for me your good to go."
  45. [14:05] Matt Gunny Mapp (NuitDarksin): Alright, thanks chief appericiate you taking the time out of your busy schedule. Hope I get to work for you soon
