- Sheik took a seat away from the fire ring, faced out into the now dark wilderness, and entered her meditation. It was more restorative than sleep, if done right, and allowed Sheik to maintain awareness of her surroundings. Of course, it was a technique known only to those who could master the manipulation of every aspect of their body, and the Sheikah were the only organized collective which had been able to teach it with regularity.
- It was a useful skill to possess. Especially for Sheik’s purposes. She kept her attention on any intrusions in the night, but she also kept her attention on those sitting around the fire ring. She listened in to the meager conversations the other three tried to hold.
- “What is she doing, by the way?” Robin asked.
- “You know,” Leaf said. “I never asked her.”
- Pause.
- “What’d he say?” Leaf asked.
- “He just called her weird.”
- A few brief snippets of conversation like that. They ate. They gathered their coverings together. They went to sleep.
