- Mizuho Factbook:
- Governance: Ruled by the Five Divine Houses (Like a Cherry Blossom)
- Imperial- A human line of Emperors descended from Amaterasu.
- Ryu- Best Dergs. Their main temple is on Tatsu-to(or Tatsu-jima)
- Okami- Wolves that are messengers of the Gods.
- Inari- Kitsunes
- Otohime- Third best Dergs
- Each of the five houses exercise a varied degree of control over their own territory. 4/5 have loyal Daimyo serving under them to govern local areas.
- Otohime are the exception to this. They have direct rule over their underwater castle towns (Ryugujo).
- SETTING:
- Feel free to take inspiration from whatever Japanese legends, folklore and all points of their history. Mizuho is mostly isolated due to the stormy seas but some foreign traders and scholars are granted safe passage from the Mist Continent. (How else will the Danukis Amish their way into everyone's pocketbooks?)
- (Do the Amish Danuki people out of their money or is everyone getting Amished out of their money by Danukis?)
- Isolation aside, the people of Mizuho would know about deities from other cultures such as Parvati the Goddess of love and devotion. Thanks to MGs, Mizuhojin would be familiar with Cupids and recognize the symbolism of an arrow through a heart.
- TECHNOLOGY:
- Their level would be similar to the Sengoku Jidai and Tokugawa Shogunate eras with a few noticeable exceptions.
- 1.) Magic. The reminder wasn't needed but it's still important to note.
- 2.) Gunpowder is new and muskets are still in prototype phase. Gaijin would not know about them.
- Note: If you want guns, then I recommend you go no further back than year 465 of the New Reign.
- 3.) The Metric system is an equally new concept but seems to be catching on quickly. Even intriguing foreign scholars. (No matter how far behind Terra might be, they still convert to Metric before the US does...)
- SECLUDED BY STORMS:
- The sea around the Mizuho archipelago, including the Ryugujo, is protected by the Storm Shogun, Soryu. She is destined to one day become Narco's favorite in-law and drinking buddy.
- The stormy isolationism ends in 467 when the son of Lady Shinryu travels on a pilgrimage across the ocean to the Uwhal Continent.
