  13. In 2750 AUC (1947 AD), the Soviet Union tested its first atomic bomb. Thousands upon thousands of man-hours went into the program - a last trump that they needed in order to ensure Soviet supremacy over the Allies. Rome. America. India. Manchurian China. This, the first atomic bomb detonated on the planet so far as they knew, would be a game changer. And perhaps this would serve a purpose where assassins and armies had failed.
  14.
  15. When the bomb was set off, for some curious reason there was no atomic detonation. Curiously, at some point in the arming process, the uranium was replaced with some other material, but that was fairly immaterial, because once the tyrant leading the Soviets attempted to assassinate the Immortal Emperor, he as well as declared war. Not that anyone would say this to him directly, of course; shouldn't such a thing stand for itself?
  16.
  17. The uranium was found beneath the bed of the tyrant. On a completely related note, this was found after he died of acute radiation poisoning a week after the failed bomb detonation, because it's a very bad idea to have spies take apart an atomic bomb and move the plutonium underneath someone's bedframe, healthwise.
  18.
  19. It is not a particularly large surprise that infighting paralyzed the Soviets. It WAS a surprise, at least to them, to find that during their infighting, posturing, and maneuvering parts of the military against each other, there was abruptly an invasion of Moscow by the Soviets in 2751 AUC. Apparently, the Roman legions arrived by bus, train, and automobile.
  20.
  21. That... was probably not the intended way to end the Cold War, but damned if it wasn't effective, considering China was fractured and hadn't gone communist yet, and without Moscow, its puppets didn't know what to do. Some of them outright petitioned to join the Roman Republic. Those that didn't... well, they joined anyway. The former Allied nations from the previous war were a bit uneasy, understandably, but it's hard to argue with the results, even if the Soviet Union was all but strangled in its cradle.

  23. Nemo me impune lacessit.
