- First step, check my other pastebin here https://pastebin.com/DCwSUAst this is a comprehensive list of tools to find and track individuals. Check your name, email address, phone # and any usernames you use against these tools. This should provide you with a list of places that hold your information. Begin by deleting all social media, delete any old email addresses you no longer need and send requests to any .gov sites displaying your information publicly to remove said info. They should comply. You can send similar requests to services such as the whitepages and 192.com. If you live in the UK, you should go ex-directory (removes number and address from phone book), use the TPS service (Telephone Preference Service stops cold calls) and remove yourself from electoral roll searches by ticking the box on the form informing you wish your info to remain private and not on public record.
- Once you have completed all of the above, that's the hard work done. Now you need to prevent information leaks in the future.
- VPN's (virtual private networks)
- Start by using a free VPN service, Hoxx VPN and Browsec are both free and offer many different locations with no tracking or intrusive behaviours. Windscribe is also highly recommended.
- Social media
- Try to avoid Social Media. However, if you must use it, use a username that only friends and family will recognize you by. Keep your posts and friend lists private. One method for undesirables to find your details is to search your friend lists, if they find a whole list of people sharing the same last name (ie Doe for instance) it won't take a genius to guess that you might be related and also share that last name.
- Email
- Try not to use the same email address for multiple accounts, using seperate emails for seperate online profiles will make you harder to find. It's rare you find all of someones info in one place, so by keeping everything as seperate as possible, you make it increasingly more difficult for someone to find all your info. Email addresses used for professional use (ie on a Résumé) should not be connected to any social media accounts you would not want your employer to view (think about all the embarassing and unprofessional things you have most likely uploaded over the years). When making this email address, still stick to the same rules abount not using a real name or any traceable info. Use your first name and a series of random numbers (ie [email protected]).
- Receiving links
- As a general rule, do not click links from those you do not know and trust. Here are a few tools you can use to check links that you receive.
- Expand shortened URLSs

- Check links for virus'
- Phones
- Turn off location services on your mobile device. Use a VPN such as windscribe.
- Photos
- Even the most innocuous of pictures could give away more information about you than you might like. Using an exif scrubber can remove meta data undesirables may use to track you.
