	She's long retired, but fought on the martian side in the Colonial Wars. She made Captain rank, oddly enough, although those who imagine naval ranks(Earth-style) should know she didn't make it to Major before being crippled.
	The right side of her face doesn't seem to work right. It's not slack or motionless, it moves when she talks, but otherwise it just maintains a neutral expression, while regular expressions happen on the left.
	More subtly, her right arm and leg are good cyber, the better to fill in for her nerve damage.
	She actually has software she can engage that will take over her whole face, but the result is a bit too… perky.

	As a pilot in the United Earth Planet Force, she made Lieutenant Commander before retiring, without seeing serious action. After retiring, she went into software engineering with the UESPA, and did some of the early coding on the reactionless engine project. She parleyed that into a major position on the testbed ship.
	She doesn't use her racial hermaphromorph; her gender is aggressively female, even if she's a bit GNC.

	Muscular and sturdy, he could work security except he's a big 'ol teddy bear at heart. He's an earthman through and through, but he doesn't approve of Sphere dominion over planets that want their independence. DFAB, metamorphosed at a few years old. He and his boyfriend are largely using the double-occupancy cabin as an excuse to overcome their reluctance to move in together(it's kind of cute).

	Born a street rat, has the skills of a HighSchoolHustler, but set his sights higher. That scholarship in psychology served him in good stead.
	Brings along a partner(Noarin, Alpha human, yamato, themself) and two kids(Maria, 8, and Chase, 10); nominally the kids have the neighboring cabin, but the kids are young and there's no tension, so they switch around all the time.

	They purse their lips thoughtfully, then they back up to spread themself sideways across a chair, their legs crossed at the knees over the chair arm. They bat their eyes coquettishly. "Are you asking about public image, or is this one of those questions it's ***awfully*** forwards of you to be asking me instead of Googling?"

	Theoretically, the bulk of the Sol system belongs to United Earth Sphere. In practice, former Martian Commonwealth areas chafe under Sphere subjugation. Almost everything beyond Saturn stands independent, having never aligned with either side in the Colonial Wars, and not having enough of an economy to be worth taking.
	Mercury has only minor Sphere scientific outposts, without much local culture.
	Venus has a few "Cloudland" habitats, driven largely by romanticism in the Sphere. Several collapsed under martian blockade during the Colonial Wars, but the remainder managed to become self-sustaining, and have since re-colonized Lost Cloudland. Primary culture is Indic, primary language is Thai.
	Earth is, of course, the seat of the Sphere. Sphere politics can be broadly divided between the United States Of America(Western / English), the Bharat-Thai Alliance(Indic / Hindi & Thai), the State Of Japan(Western / Japanese), the European Combine(Western / Luxembourgish & English), and the Greater Federation Of Brasil(Latin / Portuguese & Spanish) even if those have all been officially subsumed into the Sphere.
	Mars was once the seat of the Martian Commonwealth, and before that the Martian Free State, but was conquered by the Sphere. Culture is mixed, primary languages are Luxembourgish, Hindi, Japanese, and Thai.
	The Belt was once united under european leadership, but intertwined with the Martian Free State for economic reasons, and was key when the Martian Commonwealth formed. 	Saturn is likewise a subsystem, and the Ringdom Of Enceladus sparked the Colonial Wars by declaring its independence from Earth. It ended up throwing in its lot with Mars. As producer of cultural goods for the system, it stands behind Mars and Earth but no other. Primary culture is `
	Out past Saturn is what's been nicknamed the Low Beyond. A few minor colonies remain beholden to their masters, but most quietly declared independence during the early Colonial Wars and were ignored.

	The launch of the Quadrinidad is something of a Sphere political statement. The testbed for this new technology, launched from the Utopia Planitia spaceport on Mars, under the aegis of the United Earth Space Probe Agency, is another "red thread" to tie Mars to Earth. It remains to be seen whether this will be more successful than President Coleridge's cycler fleet.

	Luxembourg rose to prominence on the Belt in the early days of space colonization, built a significant slice on Mars, and generally enriched Europe, whose last incarnation of unity was incorporated into the Sphere.
	China was a big deal in the early days, but imploded at home and couldn't support its colonies. Russia, Japan, India, and Thailand rose by eating what once was China's lunch. Later, Russia imploded in turn.
