BACKGROUND : all eloise ever wanted was for her father to be proud of her. henry kim, the famous potions master who published three groundbreaking journals on the classic pollyjuice potion, may have been a great professor but he was a horrible husband and father. he was an impatient man who expected that his daughters would be just as great as he was if not better. whenever he was home, which rarely ever happened, he would snap at eloise and her sister for the silliest things. if they spoke even a word out of turn, it was off to bed immediately without a doubt. eloise only had her older sister violet to confide in when her father's harsh words became too much. but because violet was much older than eloise she was soon out of the house and hired as an auror right around the time eloise received her letter from hogwarts (she got an earful for receiving hers later than violet). their father was furious when he heard that his eldest daughter had run off to become a silly auror and took this frustration out on eloise. she was to be seen and not heard from, and was conditioned to be prim and proper, hating not only dirt but also everything violet stood for. in order to ensure that eloise wouldn't run off to be an auror as well, their father forbid violet from ever coming back home and even saw to it that hexes be placed upon the house so that that would never happen. but as the years passed and the idea of violet coming home grew less and less likely, eloise watched as her father's paranoia grew. he continued to increase the amount of security and doubled the power of the hexes placed upon the kim house. he was no doubt driving himself insane. one day, the night of eloise's sixteenth birthday, the security alarms went off, signaling that someone other than the kim family had tried to enter the house. eloise woke to the sound of a weak but constant tapping at her window and looked to see her sister, battered and bloodied, outside. violet had finally returned just in time to deliver eloise a birthday present, which had been burnt to a crisp by the hexes. violet died that night due to complications caused by the hexes. their father was shipped off to st mungo's and eloise and her mother moved to a new house.

PERSONALITY : eloise is no gryffindor. her fellow classmates make that painstakingly clear. she's cowardly and strange, caring more about her studies than anything else. but while she cares a lot about her studies, her classmates find it strange that she doesn't even have perfect marks. she's horrible in defense against the dark arts and care for magical creatures because of her fussy attitude. having a hatred for dirt and all things gross makes it a bit hard for her to participate in potions during the more hands on type of lessons as well. her classmates find her conflicting attitudes appalling and just downright annoying. and the fact that she comes from a well off family makes her all the more horrible in their eyes. but what they don't understand is that while eloise's actions may depict her as a coward, she is in fact anything but cowardly. her heart is full of admiration for those who work in horrible conditions whether it be on the battlefield or in the woods. and while she is a bit squeamish, she wishes she were able to fight or play quidditch. but all her classmates see is the spoiled eloise who can't stand the idea of getting her hands dirty. so because of this, they dubbed her the hufflebluff, a horrible nickname that has stuck with her since year one. but besides the relentless bullying, many of her fellow fifth years completely ignore her orders and find fun in hiding her prefect's badge to the distaste of their upperclassmen. but instead of bringing her down, this constant harassment only adds more fuel to her burning ambition. like a certain famous bushy-haired brunette, eloise is extremely hardworking and pours her heart into everything she does. in short, eloise is a perfectionist. having grown up in a very sheltered environment, eloise grew up having everything done to perfection. this strict mindset of hers has stuck with her all the way to hogwarts and sadly she's not losing it anytime soon. because she puts her all into everything she does, she expects the same from others and is incredibly disappointed when they fail to meet her expectations. she has a short temper and will not hesitate to lash out at others. but in turn, she is very sensitive herself and cries easily (but never in front of others). no, eloise would rather cut off her arm than let her classmates gain the satisfaction of seeing her cry. she's extremely stubborn in that sense, and once she's got her mind made up it's almost impossible getting her to change it. whether it be boys or the subjects at school, eloise bases all her opinions strictly on first impressions. for the most part, it's extremely difficult to gain her approval, but for the few who do they die with her loyalty.

LIKES :
- the comfort of the common room after a particularly long day
- anything sweet from trifles to chocolate frogs (except no bertie bott's every flavored beans since their flavors are too risky)
- all kinds of books including ones written by muggles
- movies that contain strong protagonists and loads of action (extra points if the lead is a female)
- answering questions and participating in class (since it's really the only thing she's good at)
- the yule ball!!!
- watching quidditch
- collecting beautiful dress robes adorned in lace or made of smooth satin
-her defense against the dark arts class (it feels exhilarating whenever she is in the class)

DISLIKES :
- interacting with her fellow gryffindors unless it is a must (they're no different than slytherins in her book)
- her care for magical creatures class as it is mainly taught outside and in the woods of all places!
legilimens (she thinks they are nosy and rude and hates that they feel entitled to viewing her inner thoughts whenever they feel)
-potions because it reminds her of her father
-holidays like christmas and new years because that means going back home to her awful family

HOUSE : gryffindor
YEAR : fifth year

QUIDDITCH : eloise was never allowed a broom when she was younger. her father deemed them too dangerous and banned even the viewing of quidditch in their household. but that didn't stop eloise from loving the sport - even if it meant doing so from the sidelines. she is a great supporter of the gryffindor quidditch team and goes to every single game.

BEST SUBJECT : transfiguration.
eloise loves the class requires a very scientific type of magic. she finds that it's the one subject that measures skill based on how much work is put in rather than just pure talent. it also helps that she's her professor's favorite student.
WORST SUBJECT : potions.
while eloise is horrible at defense against the dark arts, care for magical creatures, and potions equally, because of her history potions is just unbearable for her. she can't concentrate in class and ends up zoning out the entire period.

PET : none
WAND : spruce wood, phoenix feather core, 13 3/4" in length, slightly springy flexibility.

PATRONUS : swan.
violet's patronus used to be a sparrow and when she died, eloise found that her patronus had changed from a fox to a swan. the swan also reflects eloise's calm and collected nature even in front of danger.

☼ I GUESS OUR LOVE

LOVE INTEREST : jimin
BACKUP LOVE INTEREST : yoongi

PERSONALITY : jimin is the type of gryffindor eloise wishes she were. he's brave and daring and doesn't possess a single bad bone in his body. while he may be a bit of a dick in class, what with his loud voice and knack for asking stupid questions, eloise greatly admires how even though he's naturally talented, he's extremely humble about it. jimin is the type who can never take a compliment. he's always bowing his head sheepishly and exclaiming that it's just dumb luck that he's got the talent for magic. this humble attitude carries over on the field as well. although he's the best seeker gryffindor's seen since harry freaking potter, jimin is always saying how he's got lots of room for improvement. but in eloise's eyes, jimin can do no wrong at all.

HOW DID THEY MEET : on the quidditch field. after everyone goes back to the dorms, jimin likes to stay behind and practice more. the captain agrees but on the one condition that he cleans up after himself. well jimin was in the middle of just that when a rogue bludger flew out and knocked some girl in the legs. her feet flew out from under her and she landed on her back with a loud thud that had jimin rushing over in a flash.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: jimin was scared shitless because not only had he just hit prefect eloise kim with a bludger, but she'd broken her foot as a result. also he had heard of some nasty rumors about her and was afraid she'd send him to head of gryffindor. however he was surprised to find that she was super chill and did not blame him one bit for the incident with the bludgers. he still wasn't satisfied and brought her flowers the next day. of course, eloise began to break out in hives as a result, leaving jimin horrified.
eloise never thought she'd be happy getting hit by a bludger but oddly enough she was. after all, she got to meet her idol and he even brought her flowers! it was extremely cute of him to do so, even though her face was swollen for a good week after. if anything, eloise's admiration for him grew a bit after that.

HOW DOES HE ACT AROUND HER : beginning - he's extremely careful around her afterwards because he thinks that she hates him and is looking for reasons to land him in trouble. this goes on for a while until he's told by some stupid asshats that she's got a huge crush on him.
middle - he's still careful around her because he's not sure why she's got a crush on him of all people. the more he worries about her, the more he slowly grows concerned for her.
end - he comes to terms with the fact that he's falling for her and tries not to let his feelings get in the way of the tasks at hand. but because she's his greatest weakness, he finds himself unable to leave her side and becomes very protective of her. now no one makes fun of eloise unless they want to get on jimin's bad side.

HOW DOES SHE ACT AROUND HIM : beginning - she admires jimin so much that she blushes even at the mere mention of him. anything he does is godly to her and she can't help but defend him whenever she hears someone talk bad about him.
middle - someone informs eloise that she's actually in love with jimin and she loses her shit. she can't focus in class and finds that whenever she sees him, she gets so nervous she gets these weird rashes. but despite her crush, she tries her best to show him that she's not as horrible as people make her out to be.
end - she stops seeing him as something unattainable and instead sees him as someone she already has and doesn't want to let go. she is his voice of reason and will always be there to talk him out of doing something stupid like risk his life for her. they're basically attached at the hip by this point.

RELATIONSHIP : he's like a star to her, something bright and millions of miles away. but as they grow closer, she finds that although he's very very handsome, he's not the sun therefore she shouldn't act like he is. they respect each other very much and will literally hex anyone who says anything bad about the other.

RELATIONSHIP TRIVIA :
-he's super overprotective of her and hates seeing her with other guys
-she doesn't like to admit it but she's envious of his talent and always tries one upping him on tests
-she goes to every single one of his games
-whenever he's introducing her to someone he always mentions that she's allergic to flowers because of how traumatized he is after that incident
-they always argue over the same exact thing: him being too overprotective
-he likes it when she pats his head

SCENE SUGGESTIONS :
-he's stressing over how to ask her to the yule ball and when he finally works up the courage to ask her, she asks him suddenly before he can get the words out
-he lends him an extra broom and they go flying
-she explains to him how in third year this kid called her a kook because of her father and jimin gets so angry he walks over and punches the guy in the face
-she knows that he loves his cat tobby so she tries and fails to knit him a small little cat good luck charm (he still uses it anyways)

NOTE TO ME : you can do literally anything you want with my character. like even if you don't choose her or if you do but you kill her off I will still 100% support this fic bc Harry Potter is loveu Harry Potter is lifeu
