- Although Rockman was originally planned as an arcade game, Capcom decided to develop it for the disc system, but for scheduling reasons they were forced to switch to a cartridge release. The stage select feature and shutters before the boss rooms are remnants of old design choices: the former was intended to prevent arcade players from giving up if they got stuck on a certain stage, and the latter was meant to give the disc system time to load the boss data while the player was moving.
