- Description: The group broke into homes to burglarize them. They beat and strangled Vernita, leaving her bloody, bruised, and unconscious body on her apartment floor. She died in the hospital days later. Jackson beat and strangled Gladys, Vernita’s neighbor, before using a wine bottle to r*pe her. Her body was found in her bed with broken ribs, a fractured sternum, a detached lung, and extensive lacerations to her vagina.
