  1. Demon Ward is a monster collecting RPG based around obscure mythological creatures. The story of the game focuses on a young exorcist who helps around a small town, exorcising and defeating local demons that cause trouble. Over the course of his job, he uncovers a secret plan to plunge the entire world into darkness.
  2.
  3. Basic Concepts:
  4. Demons - Demons are the main monsters of the game. They live in the Demon World, an area between life and death where human imagination forms into new, trouble-making creatures. Every demon type has a unique personality and set of powers, though some are unique individuals, and some are numerous in their numbers. Every demon has four special attacks that they can use, some shared across multiple demons, and some unique to just one. Demons are able to be befriended by exorcists, through a mix of dialog options, food, and special missions. Overall, there are 223 demons in the game, each with their own unique look and backstory.
  5.
  6. Demon World - The Demon World is normally not accessible by humans, but some are granted the power to see it using the Demigazer. The Demigazer is a mask with dark powers, and are capable of being seen by other humans, though only trained individuals can see through them. There exist only a handful of Demigazers throughout the world, though each has their own unique design. The main character is equipped with one that has a design resembling an oni.
  7.
  8. Agrippa - The Agrippa is a living book that contains information on every demon and spell in the known universe. Every exorcist is gifted with one upon their ushering, and like with other demons, each Agrippa has its own unique personality. Using the contents of the book, an exorcist can use it to summon demons to help ward off other demons. However, the exorcist must be granted the secret summoning word for the demon in order to see it within the book, something that can only be gotten via befriending a demon. The Agrippa can also be used to cast spells, but humans are incapable of using most without some form of channeling tool. At the start of the story, the main character is only able to use basic spells for his attacks.
  9.
  10. Magic Staves - Magic staves are what they sound like, magic staves. Using one, an exorcist is allowed to channel magic and cast even more powerful spells from their Agrippa. However, staves are things that cannot be found in the human world, and must be gifted by a demon in order for it to work. The main character is gifted his first staff by the Skoffin after he helps them out. This staff is the Foxtongue Staff. Staves are far more common than Demigazers, and each have unique designs, as well as special bonuses to certain magical elements. All staves bear a similar limitation, in that they must be equipped with special Diablo Crystals in order to channel spells.
  11.
  12. Diablo Crystals - Diablo Crystals are the crystallized pieces of a demon's powers. Only a demon can remove them from itself, but there exists dark magic that can turn demons into Diablo Crystals permanently. Diablo Crystals have no negative effects when removed by the demon itself, and can in fact be granted as a gift to those the demon becomes friends with. A Diablo Crystal usually contains magic from the demon, which in turn lets an exorcist summon its powers through their staff. Exorcists use these to enhance their own spell repertoire, and is why befriending demons is an important part of being an exorcist. These crystals are equipped to staves, though the number of crystals allowed to be equipped at a time is different for each. For example, the Foxtongue Staff only has two slots to equip crystals with. The highest amount a staff can hold is four, however.

  15. Characters:
  16. Main Character (Default Name: Erin Deblask) - The newest, and youngest, of a long line of exorcists. He was gifted his Demigazer by his father, and hopes to live up to his family name. He is very anti-social and awkward due to being trained to be an exorcist for his entire life, and as such has no friends and is nearly blind to customs of the real world. Though he seems somber and sulky, he hides a decent sense of humor. Over his travels, he will gain friends and become a better person, as well as save the world.
  17.
  18. Vif the Agrippa - Vif is the main character's personal Agrippa. A relative greenhorn himself, Vif is nonetheless a full of himself smug jerk, who thinks that the main character is beneath him. Due to Agrippas only being seen as normal books by humans, Vif enjoys taunting humans that can't hear him, bugging the main character. This smug attitude unfortunately extends to other demons, as Vif just doesn't know when to shut his mouth. Over the game, Vif will learn how to respect others, and realize that he isn't as great as he thinks he is. Vif functions as an important character to the story, as well as a guide of demons and spells for the main character's use.
  19.
  20. Fing the Skoffin - Skoffins are already not great company, being rather scummy fox-cat hybrids with stunning stares, but Fing is the worst of the worst. A bit of a bully and heavily egotistical, though those aren't his worst qualities. Fing is a showoff and a spotlight hogger, always butting in when he doesn't need to, and usually having a snide word to say. He's incredibly toxic, and was even kicked out of the Skoffin Glen for being that annoying. Fing also thinks of himself as cute and lovable, though he appears as either a mangy fox or cat to humans, depending on which they dislike the most. Unfortunately, Fing is also the first demon that the main character befriends, and will tag along for the entire game, even when not in your current team. However, Fing will learn a lot over the story, including how to value others.
  21.
  22. Klein Steppen - A neighborhood kid around the age of the main character. He doesn't believe in the supernatural, and goes out of his way to prove that the main character is a phony exorcist. Unfortunately, these attempts always end with a demon really showing up, and nearly disastrous consequences. As the main character and Klein interact, they'll learn more about each other and become friends.
  23.
  24. Abe Atep and the Snakeskin Gang - The mafia of the town. Abe is a mysterious individual who performs crimes with his gang of henchmen. Abe himself is the rarest to be seen of the gang, but is also the most well known, and as such lots of myths have started to pop up about him. His crew consists of Soo, a chubby man who loves food and is never seen without a hammer, Levar, a bodybuilder with a burning personality, Inda, a silent woman who wears a steel mask all the time, Ariya, a stylish lady with remarkably long hair, and Arick, Abe's right hand man and the rather serious one. Oddly enough, the gang is often seen with an army of almost completely covered goons. No information has been found about any of the Snakeskin Gang, other than what they themselves have said. However, they seem to leave a wake of violent demons in their wake...
