  1. 24 hours in Amsterdam
  2. 24 hours is a very small time to be in Amsterdam ! You really need much more than that. But lets assume you have 24 hours. So I'll begin your day at about 9am. I recommend starting your day with a nice breakfast in a small cafe somewhere. There is a cafe behind Madam Toussad's, that serves amazing chocolate brownies. There's a waitress, 5 feet 4 inches in height, Knee cuts on jeans, dimple on the right cheek. Tell her Alan from India says hi.
  3. Moving on, now that you are standing right next to Madam Tousaads, spend two hours posing with statues of celebraties you will probably never meet. It feels really awesome when you can sit and talk on the phone, while Barack Obama has to stand. There's a statue of Nicholas cage which is pretty life like, Chancellor Angela Merkel, Messi and the gorgeous Julia Roberts. If you want a feeling of royalty, you could pose with her majesty Queen Elizabeth too !
  4. Next, for art lovers I recommend the Van Gough museuem. I find art boring, so i'll go no further !
  5. Now take the local tramp to the Heineken factory, where you are told about the history of Heineken, the process of making Henieken and at the end of the tour, you are given a souvenier authentic heineken glass, as well as freshly brewed heineken beer, which is not available anywhere else in the world. Its the best thing your lips will ever touch.
  6. Now take the train back to the central station, where you can have your lunch, though i expect it's about 5 in the evening. By the way, did I mention that you should buy a 24 hour pass for the local tram.
  7. Now that you've had beer and are well fed, its time to explore the market. Shop. Splurge. Woolens are pretty cheap and of better quality than in India.
  8. Now comes something for the potheads. There's a shop called Baba, near madam Toussads. It has a photo of Ganesh on it. Just enter, and order a white widow, or if you're in it for the string one, a 6 euro prerolled stick. You can enjoy it in the middle of the street too. It's legal !
  9. Now is the time I recommend a tour of the RLD, aka the Red LIght District. There are organised tours, costing about 12 euros, that take you across the RLD, telling you about history, variety and weirdness of the place. You can see hookers in glass windows, Dungeons of sex, and every weird sexual experience you can imagine. There's a windows where you pay 2 euros to watch people have sex. Weird !
  10. Once you are through with the RLD district, settle on a nearby pub. Ask for some local wine, local beer and Dutch snacks. You could visit one of the several strip clubs in the vicinity now ! A few of us went together and the girls enjoyed the lap dances more than the guys ;)
  11. You've had a long day. Its time to relax. Take the tram back to your hotel, you have to start early tomorrow.
  12. Now assuming you need to leave by 9, get up at 5.30. Take a bicycle from your hotel and ride near the river, across town, across cafe's, everywhere ! Enjoy the serenity that persists. Imagine how this is the quietest the city will ever be. Its the same city that was hell bent on partying last night.
  13. Return your bicycle. Have a sumptuous breakfast. You have now officially visited the party capital of the world. Dank u !
