- On the first reading, the ones that stands out to me the most are 6 and 29. Both deal with analysis paralysis, which is something that I work on overcoming.
- I like for everything to be perfect before implementing; and while I know that sometimes good is good enough, I still have a hard time pulling the trigger
- on projects until I feel they're perfect. After 6 and 29, 8 speaks to me as well. I do not have a problem admitting that I'm wrong about something or
- that I don't know. My problem is is asking for help when I don't. I tend to feel like a nusance sometimes for asking questions and usually will
- try to find the answer myself first. This is often to my detriment because the answer could have been easily had from a friend or colleague.
- Checklists are amazing, they get you thining about your project in broad strokes and then whittling down to step by step tasks. In that way,
- you start to thnk about the details of what you want/need to do. Making the lists allows you to think about it again, this time focusing more ont he specifics.
- And finally, checklists allow you to check your progress throughout the process and at the end to ensure that everything that needs to get done
- is getting done. As a student and later in a career, it helps to make sure that you don't get lost in what you're doing and better able to stay on task.
- They also allow the ability to set benchmarks as to when certain things need to done and how long each should take.
- I really like this approach with the strengths based approach. It is very similar to an educational approach dealing with multiple intelligences.
- It focuses on finding out how each individual learns and tailors the approach to teaching them accordingly. Everyone is smart in their own way.
- Albert Einstein said “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
- The question I have for you at this point of our journey together is, “What is your genius?”
- My main question would be, how do you apply the strengths method? Do you have employees/colleagues take the test and keep a file with that info?
- I feel my top strengths are my desire to help people and to gain as deep an understanding as I can about the subject. That want to learn as much
- as possible is often a hinderance. Instead of taking something as a given and understanding more deply later, I sometimes gets hung up trying to figure
- out how each small part works together.
- To develop these strengths, I will find as many of the best info sources that I can and bookmark them for fast referencing when needed. I will
- also do my best to realize that it's okay to not know everything from memory and that it's good practice to reference a library or two.
