Mercurius fails to shatter God's Law, only partially Emanating and finding his army of Holy Relic users incapable of impacting His perfect society. Out of a desire to punish him, God loops the burgeoning Eternal Recurrence into itself, creating a repeating universe where Mercurius is doomed to find suffering- not because of his Foreknowldge, but because of his lack of it. In this world, the corpses of Mercurius' followers awaken as the creatures known as Demons, while their minds and souls take root within Holy Relics that eventually begin bonding with people all over the planet, taking them over. However, a few are able to either turn the tables or make peace with their Relic.
Instead of going through Assiyah, Yetzirah, and Briah, the power tiers are called Vocalist, Band, and Chorus. A hidden level known as Symphony also exists, but is never achieved due to Mercurius regaining his memories too late. Vocalist is achieved using only the song within one's own heart, and allows a phantom of the Holy Relic to be manifested, whose physical form is still dormant within the soul. Band requires at least 1000 hearts to be singing along the music of the user's heart, at which point the Holy Relic can be manifested in full with the form of a Symphogear. Chorus requires at least 10000 hearts instead as well as a profound understanding of one's desires, patching together a new universe where one's deepest wish comes true with the help of those singing along. I'll figure out what Symphony requires if it actually becomes relevant for my writefagging.
Mercurius incarnates as Ren Fudo (Ren Fuji + Akira Fudo). His apoptosis is Reinhard Yusa (c'mon), who becomes the founding member of Section Two's Obsidian Round Table and convinces Ren to become an AIDORU after Zwei Wing disbands. Miki Himuro (Miki + Rea) is Ren's not-girlfriend. Miki Tachibana (Miko + Hibiki) is there for Zwei Wing's last concert and inherits Kanade Spinne's Sieg Heil Viktoria. Chris Sakurai (Yukine + the girl who can't do math) is initially taken over by her Wewelsburg Longinus but eventually manages to break the conditioning.
