Determined now to maintain his focus, Dack picked out two Eternals—two that were still a safe distance away—and cast his hex. They smashed into each other and tumbled over in time for Kaya to plunge her two long ghost daggers into each of their brains. She continued forward, flanked by two Orzhov giants.

Dack then chose two more Eternals and repeated the process. This time they continued to drag themselves forward together by gripping the pavement with their dead fingers. Dack moved in and cut off all four of their hands, lest they reach out and grab him while he was finishing them off. Then he swung his sword to cut off one of their heads. The sword lodged in the creature’s spine, failing to quite do the job. A nervous Dack spent a precious few seconds wrenching it free and making a second, more successful attempt.

By the time he was done, another Eternal was already upon him. But he kept his head and hexed the lazotep adorning the creature so that it was yanked back, anchoring it to the two Eternals on the ground.

That was so amazingly effective, he tried it again. And again. And again. Soon there was a huge mass of tangled Eternals in a pile before him. It was quick, elegant, perfect and repeatable.
