  63. Anandabazar Patrika is an Indian Bengali-language daily newspaper owned by the ABP Group. According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, it has a circulation of 1 million copies as of December 2019.
  64.
  65. A Bengali newspaper was published in 1876 in a small village of Magura at Jessore District in British India (now Bangladesh) by Tushar Kanti Ghosh and his father Sisir Kumar Ghosh. They named it Ananda Bazar after Tusharkanti's grandmother's sister Anandomayee. However, soon the newspaper died. In 1886, Ghose published another newspaper, named after his grandmother Amritamoyee: Amrita Bazar Patrika.
  66.
  67. Later in 1922 the newspaper Anandabazar Patrika was relaunched by proprietor Suresh Chandra Majumdar and editor Prafulla Kumar Sarkar. It was first printed on 13 March 1922 under their ownership and was against British rule. In 1922 it first published as a four-page evening daily. The first colour printing was the features section. The internet edition of the newspaper was launched in 2001, which publishes news among the community. Also provides advertisement in the printed newspaper. In 2010, Time Inc. entered into a license agreement with ABP Group to publish Fortune India magazine. This magazine publishes the Fortune India 500 list every year.
  68.
  69. Anandabazar Patrika first appeared on March 13, 1922 — the day of Holi, as an evening daily, printed in red ink. It was a four-pager, priced at two paise and had a first-day circulation of a thousand copies. The newspaper's red ink led to the contemporary English daily, The Englishman terming it a 'danger signal'. With its unshakeable patriotic stance, it soon became very popular.
  70.
  71. Unbiased views, constructive criticism, indomitable courage and an uncompromising attitude were just a few aspects, which went on to make Anandabazar Patrika the 'voice of Bengal'. Its popularity reached new heights when, in 1954, the Press Commission report declared Anandabazar Patrika to be the largest circulated newspaper in the country, published from one location.
  72.
  73. The No.1 Bengali daily is published from various locations today. Spawning a veritable legion of journalists, Anandabazar Patrika boasts of dedicated readers, worldwide. It is the only Bengali daily to cross 1.2 million in circulation.
  74.
  75. Over the years, Anandabazar Patrika has achieved many milestones along the way — it was the first in the east and one of the first in the country to use offset printing. Anandabazar Patrika's landmark coverage on, among others, Rabindranath Tagore's death, Netaji's miraculous escape from detention, Mahatma Gandhi's death and the Nandaghunti expedition (a project patronised by the ABP Group itself) is legendary.
  76.
  77. Other firsts for the daily include mechanising a non-Roman language to create the Bengali-Hindi typewriter. Driven by its commitment to preserve the highest standards in Bengali language and culture, Anandabazar Patrika devised a way to use the complete set of Bengali characters in the word processing software, a decade before Unicode, a more advanced method of computer writing, was introduced. It also published, along with Desh, the first large-scale readership survey in 1963, nine years before the first National Readership Survey (NRS) syndicated research was commissioned. In 2006, Anandabazar Patrika became the only Bengali daily to be declared a Consumer Superbrand in the second edition of Consumer Superbrands India. It was also awarded Gold for the best printed newspaper in Asia Media awards 2017.
  78.
  79. In 2017 Anandabazar Patrika had another first in its cap. To connect more with the reader’s life at a district level, Anandabazar Patrika came out with a first time in India, arguably in the world, concept called Paper-within-Paper (PWP) for the district markets of West Bengal. PWP encompasses a full 6 pager newspaper for the district, within the main newspaper. The design replicates that of the main paper with a front page, classifieds page, post-edit page, feature page - but all containing hyper-local news from that particular district.
  80.

There's always something for everyone with The Telegraph supplements — city news in TT Metro on all days, career opportunities in Jobs on Tuesdays, children's entertainment in Telekids on Wednesdays, education and career guidance in Careergraph on Thursdays, lifestyle, travel and general interest features on weekends with Personal TT on Saturdays, Graphiti, the colour magazine on Sundays. Moreover, the technology and knowledge section, Knowhow, now comes with the main paper.
