Hospital James POV


     EXT. HOSPITAL - DAY

     SUPERIMPOSE: THREE DAYS LATER

     A crowd of reporters forms around outside the entrance of a
     hospital. In the middle stands LIEUTENANT JONAS STANTON,
     (53).

     He covers his face while cameras flash.

     IND REPORTER 1 (O.S.)
     Is this an act of terrorism?

                                      IND REPORTER 2 (O.S.)
                                      Were these two officers
                                      specifically targeted?

                                      IND REPORTER 3 (O.S.)
                                      Do we have any idea at this
                                      time who did this?

     He walks over to a set up podium.

     Some in the crowd have their phones out.

                          LIEUTENANT STANTON
               Thank you all for coming out
               tonight. For those who don't know,
               I am Lieutenant Stanton with the
               Phoenix Police Department.

     He looks down at the papers on his podium then back at the
     crowd.

                          LIEUTENANT STANTON (CONT’D)
               At 3AM on Thursday night, Officers
               David Parks and Lance Hawkins were
               engaged by unidentified suspects.

     He wipes a tear from his eye.

                          LIEUTENANT STANTON (CONT’D)
               It is with a heavy heart that I
               announce that we lost one of our
               own tonight. Officer Hawkins was
               pronounced dead on scene... His
               Field Training Officer had been
               struck by two rounds.

     James holds a box set of Chinese food in his arms as he
     watches this.

                          JAMES
               Who the hell did you piss off,
               Parks...

     He looks at the delivery side of the hospital.


     INT. HOSPITAL - DAY

     James walks in and slicks his hair back.

     He passed and smiles at a nurse and approaches the reception
     counter.

     He looks at the receptionist. She's on the phone and signals
     for him to wait.

     James checks his watch and looks around at the level of
     police activity in the hospital. He looks at the exits and
     entrances.

                          JAMES
                    (thinking)
               Two in, three out. Heavy presence.
               Hopefully Dave's not too bad.

     The receptionist hangs up the phone.

                          JAMES (CONT’D)
               I'm looking for Deputy David Parks-

     She carries a look of annoyance.

                          RECEPTIONIST
               Deputy Parks isn't seeing any
               visitors at this time sir.

     James sighs.

                          JAMES
               He's a friend of mine.

     The receptionist looks at her monitor then takes another
     glance at James.

                          RECEPTIONIST
               One moment, take a seat over there.

     She looks at her computer monitor. The receptionist stands up
     and goes into the room behind her.

     Two police officers walk out to confront him.

                          IND POLICE OFFICER 1
               Gonna ask you to leave, sir.

                          JAMES
               He knows me. Look, I served with
               him.

                          IND POLICE OFFICER 1
               Security reasons, never said
               anything about you.

                          JAMES
               Look, ask him yoursel-

     David bursts out the door, a cast in his left arm.

     Next to him is ELENA SAINTCLAIRE, (24).

                          ELENA
               David-san, you've just been shot,
               let's just go home first...

     David just looks at the scene in front of him.

                          DAVID
               James?

     Both of the officers take a step back and look at James.

                          JAMES
               Dave?

                          DAVID
               Should've probably told them you
               were coming. Sorry 'bout that.

     Dave motions for the officers to back up. They nod at him.

                          JAMES
               Grab a drink then? Do some catching
               up?

     Dave nods.

                          DAVID
               Haven't seen you since...

                          JAMES
               ...Rogers.

     Four men in suits walk into the hospital and move toward
     different corners.

                          DAVID
               Time flies, right?

     James sees one about to draw down on them. They're in four
     separate corners of the room.

     James's eyes widen.

                          JAMES
               PARKS!

                          IND POLICE OFFICER 1
               GUN GET DOWN!

     Gunshots.

     Screams fill the hospital as one police officer draws his gun
     on one and empties his gun into one of the suits.

     James dives forward.

     One of the police officers falls to his side, a hole in the
     side of his head.

                          JAMES
               Jesus, Mary, and Joseph!

     He continues to crawl forward and takes his handgun out of
     his waistband.

     The suits are riddled with holes but only one is dead on the
     ground.

                          IND POLICE OFFICER 2 (O.S.)
               Dispatch, requesting additional
               units at Margaret Medical...

     The others still shoot it out with the cops, some of them in
     cover. Those who were in the middle of the room when the
     shooting started lay on the ground, dead.

                          IND POLICE OFFICER 2 (O.S.) (CONT’D)
               ...Multiple active shooters in the
               building, semi automatics, request
               SWA-

     The officer behind David gets shot and falls.

     Another suit gets shot in the head and falls, and another
     police officer behind David.

     The two other suits finally go down.

     James lets off a smile, covered in blood of those around him.

                                                      FADE OUT.
