  1. the Akkosandra origin story:
  2. Keksandra found an advertisement for a special witch school. It had a lot of fame now because the school produced two famous witches who recently stopped an intercontinental missile with their magic. Keksandra was excited because she wanted to learn magic so she could create amazing new memes. She enrolled into Luna Nova and prepared to become a witch.
  3. Even though she came from a non witch background, Luna Nova had recently introduced a course to guide non-witches so that they could get a head start with magic. But Keksandra couldn’t wait, she wanted to learn magic fast! She got all the books and tools and a practice wand and a broom, and she practiced for months until she could do basic spells and fly around.
  4. Eventually the new semester was about to begin. Keksandra made her way to Blytonbury and flew to Luna Nova through the leyline terminal for the matriculation ceremony. She found out that Luna Nova’s teams had to be increased from three to four thanks to all the new enrolments, even after a new dormitory building was constructed. Keksandra found out that she was going to be allocated to one of the existing teams because of her non-witch background. Luna Nova was doing this to help the non-witches settle in with students of witch heritage, who can help them with their studies.
  5. Keksandra excitedly waited to get her uniforms and find out which team she was a part of. She received her uniforms, her wand, a broom, and a red team belt. She was instructed on which dorm she would reside in. Keksandra bounded to her new room and prepared to see her new roommates!
  6.
  7. Keksandra knocked on the door and sang aloud “It’s your new roommaaaaate!” The door opened and a smiling ginger-haired girl with glasses let her in. Keksandra saw her other two roommates. One was a spooky looking girl with long pink hair that covered one eye. She was holding a potion bottle and sitting at a desk. The other girl was a brown haired girl with a small ponytail and an excited grin. Hey, that girl looked familiar!
  8. “Hiiii, guys! My name is Keksandra, but you can call me Sandra if you want! I’m gonna be your roommate and I can’t wait to be your friends!”
  9. The ginger girl giggled at Keksandra’s feverish introduction. “It’s great to meet you, Keksandra. My name’s Lotte,” Keksandra stepped forward and gave Lotte a hug.
  10. “I like your glasses, Lot-tay! Girls with big glasses are so cute!”
  11. Lotte blushed at Keksandra’s words. “Oh, and that’s Sucy,” she pointed to the potion girl, “and that’s Akko,” she pointed to the brow-
  12. Akko?
  13. Keksandra’s mouth hung open. It couldn’t be!
  14. “A-Akko? You’re THE Akko?” Keksandra gasped, her voice rising excitedly.
  15. “Eheh, you know me?” Akko asked.
  16. “Know you?! You’re the real Akko! You saved the world from the big missile thingy!” Keksandra squealed. “Oh my gosh! I can’t believe this is happening! I’m roommate with the most awesomest witch who ever lived!” she was so excited that she started rambling while hugging Akko. “You inspired me to go to Luna Nova and now I get to be your roommate this is so awesoooooome!”
  17. “Oh, great. Another Akko,” Sucy sighed.
  18.
  19. Keksandra got to know her new roommates after her initial shock from being in Akko’s presence.
  20. Lotte was really good at conjuring up spirits and faeries. She also really liked this teen novel series called Nightfall and that she had read all 366 novels. In fact, she was destined to be the next author because the current Nightfall author wanted her to take the special pen, but Lotte encouraged her to continue her passion.
  21. Sucy was very interesting. She was learning to become a potions expert and she would use Akko as a test subject all the time. Apparently she was abandoned by her parents and she’s been trying to trace her lineage through a potion that they left with her.
  22. And Akko was so amazing. She came to Luna Nova because she was inspired by a magic performer, who turned out to be the professor who was tutoring her and also tried to find the Seven Words. Akko was responsible for bringing magic back into the world without the need for a sorcerer’s stone. Now everybody could do magic everywhere!
  23. Of course, Keksandra explained her story. She was the biggest fan of memes. She wanted to use magic to make better memes and spread the joy of memes around the world. Lotte saw how similar her dream was to Akko’s.
  24. They all promised to introduce Akko to their friends from the green team and the blue team during lunch on the first day. Keksandra heard that they were friends with the other girl who helped Akko restore magic, a mute girl who built amazing tech, a Russian girl who was an incredible cook, and an American who could do cool broom tricks. Keksandra was so excited for the next day.
  25. She fell asleep in the bottom bunk below Sucy, dreaming of memes.
  26.
  27. Keksandra woke up with a big smile. She was ready to learn all about magic and become the best meme witch in the whole world. She walked to her first class for the day with her new roommates. The class was going to introduce several new incantations and the students would get to practice them the following week. Keksandra couldn't wait to learn.
  28. Keksandra wrote down as much as she could in her workbook. Soon, her book was filled with pronunciations, posture tips, lessons on how to maneuver her wand, and the spells she would have to practice. Even though it was tedious work, she was excited to practice later.
  29. The next class was the potions class, which Keksandra knew would make Sucy happy. Even better, it was an open class, so she could use any ingredients she wanted to make a potion, provided it was in her textbook. There was a section in the textbook that had potions approved for student usage, as they weren't harmful and would last five minutes tops.
  30. She found a potion in that section which would temporarily change her eye color. Keksandra wanted to make her eyes purple, so she got the ingredients she needed and followed the instructions carefully. Once her potion was done, she bottled it and drank it up. She thought it tasted like potatoes.
  31. "Sucy! What color are my eyes?" Keksandra asked her new roommate, who was working on a delicate mixture.
  32. "They're red."
  33. "Hehe, I know! I made a potion that would turn them purp-"
  34. Keksandra paused. Sucy said they were red.
  35. "Hey, Keksandra! I like your new eye color! They're as red as mine!" Akko smiled, giving a thumbs up.
  36. She went back to her textbook. It said that purple eyes would be obtained by adding the scale of a male dragon. She looked at the jar on her table. The label was a bit dusty, so she wiped the dust away with her sleeve.
  37. Now it said "female dragon scales", the ingredient that the textbook said would turn her eyes red.
  38. "Ohhhhh, oopsie."
  39.
  40. Lunch came after the potions class, from which Akko's face was covered in slime after a mishap involving adding a newt's eye to a volatile mixture. Keksandra remembered that she would meet all of her new friends and grew even more excited.
  41. The offerings at the cafeteria were slim, so they had to settle on some pudding and potatoes. The red team sat down at their table, just as a few familiar faces came by.
  42. "Dianaaaaaaa!" Akko shouted, leaping up and giving the Cavendish a massive hug. "I missed yoooooou!"
  43. Keksandra's eyes widened. That was Diana! She helped Akko save the world too!
  44. It was Keksandra's turn to give the second savior of magic a massive hug. "You're Diana Cabbage Dish! You and Akko saved the whole world from the big missile thingy!" she squealed.
  45. Diana ignored the hyper girl's mispronunciation. "I see that your new roommate has taken a shine to us," she said. "It's wonderful to meet you, by the way."
  46. "Hehe, my name's actually Keksandra, but you can call me Sandra!"
  47. The British girl suppressed a giggle and turned to Akko. "I like her light-heartedness. Her positivity is delightful."
  48. While the dark-haired girl who had arrived with Diana had gone to talk to Lotte, Keksandra noticed the redhead talking to a trio of girls with green belts. Wait...green belts? That must be the green team!
  49. Keksandra broke away from the group and interrupted the redhead's conversation. "Hiiiii, girls! Are you the green team that Akko said we were gonna meet!"
  50. "Hey, could you, like..."
  51. The redhead was interrupted again by the green team's firey-headed member. "Damn right. You must be their new roommate."
  52.
  53. "My name's Keksandra!"
  54. The girl's smile twitched a bit. "Kinda odd name, but that's cool. My name's Amanda," she said, extending a fist to Keksandra. She gave her a fist bump.
  55. "Ooh, are you the one who does cool broom tricks?" Keksandra asked.
  56. Amanda raised an eyebrow. "Anything else that girl said about us?" she asked.
  57. "Oh, yes! I think I know who you are!" Keksandra said, pointing to the small girl with a tiny robot standing underneath her. "Akko says that you're good at technology and you build awesome things! What's your name?"
  58. The small girl's stern face remained unchanged. "Hmmmm."
  59. "That's a very cool name!"
  60. The little robot next to "Hmmmm" stepped forward. "Keksandra, that is not her name! Master's name is Constanze!" the robot announced.
  61. Keksandra looked at Constanze and smiled awkwardly. "Ohhhh, I forgot that Akko said that you don't talk. Your robot's really cool! Could I see all your machines one day?" she asked.
  62. "I am Stanbot!"
  63. Constanze gave Keksandra a thumbs up, even though her face remained unchanged.
  64. Keksandra looked at the biggest girl in the group. She was munching on some chips and her hair was tied into two neat braids.
  65. "And that must mean that you're the Russian cook girl!" Keksandra deduced.
  66. The girl nodded and picked out a big chip from her packet. "I am. My name is Jasminka," she said, offering the chip to Keksandra.
  67. She took the chip and ate it. It had a nice, tangy flavor with a bit of spice. "Mmm, what flavor are those chips?" she asked.
  68. "Barbecue flavored. They're my favorite ones."
  69. "They're yummy!"
  70. "Um, hello? Am I, like, invisible to you guys now?"
  71. Keksandra turned around. The redhead girl was still there, looking a little peeved.
  72. "Hehe, I forgot that I jumped in," she said. She looked down at the girl's belt, which was blue. "You're a part of Diana Cuttlefish's team! What's your name?" she asked.
  73. "It's Hannah. And you're Kek...something or other, right?"
  74. "Keksandra! But you can call me Sandra if you want!"
  75.
  76.
  77. One week later...
  78. Akko couldn't sleep.
  79. Was dinner disagreeing with her stomach? No, she felt fine.
  80. Was there a test she forgot to study for? No, she was all caught up.
  81. Akko didn't know what was bothering her, but it was taking away her beauty sleep. It gnawed at her. She would have used a spell to banish it, had she actually known one. In fact, she wasn't sure if such a spell existed.
  82. The Japanese witch tossed in bed and faced the other bunk. Sucy had called dibs on the top bunk before Keksandra came, so now Keksandra was sleeping where Sucy used to be. The girl slept soundly, holding her little purple bear in her arms. She called it her "beary".
  83. Akko felt her stomach tickle. Oh no, was dinner really not settling? She didn't feel sick, nor ready to throw up. Why was her stomach feeling funny?
  84.
  85. Somehow, Akko fell asleep, but boy was she tired the next day. And her first class of the day was with Professor du Nord, who taught the magical performance class. Akko didn't have this class with Lotte or Sucy, but fortunately for her, Keksandra had signed up for it.
  86. Akko's willpower kept her focused as she paid attention to her idol. She always focused hard on this class, because though she'd learned that she had to follow her own path, she still wanted to make the world happy.
  87. Halfway through the lesson, Akko's concentration wandered off. Keksandra was quietly singing a song under her breath. She couldn't understand the words. Something about "despacito"...
  88. Akko looked at Keksandra's exercise book. She was taking down her notes with a glitter pen. Akko noticed how cute her handwriting looked. The i's and j's were dotted twice for some reason, and she always ended her sentences with an exclamation mark.
  89. "the fïrework spell ïs super flexïble and you can make any fïrework possïble ïf you know the rïght ïncantatïons!" for example.
  90. Akko felt her cheeks burning and turned back to face the class.
  91.
  92. Akko forgot to write down some information about the fireworks spell, but she could always ask Keksandra if she could copy her notes.
  93. At lunch, Akko and Keksandra met up with the group that Akko had affectionately come to call "The Nine New Witches Minus Chariot & Croix But Now With Hannah, Barbara & Keksandra." It was a Friday afternoon, so they were discussing their weekend plans.
  94. "There's new Night Fall merch at the book store and we're totally clearing the place out," Barbara declared, not looking up from reading volume 351 of the series with Lotte.
  95. "I'll be in the lab all weekend," Constanze scribbled hastily on her notepad. She flipped another page and scribbled faster. "I'm going to patch the Stanbot AI after I iron out some bugs."
  96. Amanda scoffed. "Some bug. Howdja think it was a good idea to let it carry a lit blowtorch?"
  97. Constanze responded with a low growl and a glare.
  98. "So, Akko. You busy this weekend?" Amanda asked, looking at the ponytailed witch who was stuffing her mouth full of vanilla pudding. "Yo, dummy, I'm talkin' to ya."
  99. Akko looked up and swallowed. "Uhhhhh, I didn't have anything planned," she admitted. The words made Keksandra perk up.
  100. "Oh, oh!" Keksandra said, pushing her plate full of mac n' cheese to the side. "Akko, I almost forgot to ask you!"
  101. The ponytailed witch felt her cheeks flush. Wait, what, she wondered.
  102. "What is it?" Akko asked.
  103. "Ooooooh, a nice little birdy told me that you really like the superhero movies and I was gonna go see Infinity War!" Keksandra explained. "Sooooo, I was thinking...you wanna come see Infinity War?"
  104. Holy crap, Akko thought. She'd almost completely forgotten that Avengers: Infinity War was released! It was going to be the superhero movie to end all superhero movies. Akko had seen every other Marvel movie and was very acquainted with all the characters.
  105. "Y-yay...yes! I'd love to go with you!" Akko shouted uncharacteristically.
  106. Keksandra squealed. "Aaaaaah! Thanks, Akko! It's gonna be SO EBIN!"
  107.
  108. After they finished their lunch, the teams prepared to go to their next classes. Amanda couldn't help but recall how Akko reacted before. There was a distinct redness in her cheeks when Keksandra mentioned her name.
  109.
  110. Akko didn't understand it. She shouldn't have to feel this nervous. She was going to see a movie with her friend. Maybe the nerve was excitement. Excitement for the new Avengers movie. Yet she'd been spending half an hour trying to figure out what clothes to wear.
  111. A sundress? Seemed kinda uncharacteristic.
  112. Her Marvel hoodie? Maybe a little on the nose.
  113. Something casual? Was it too little?
  114. She'd never had trouble deciding an outfit. Why was it so hard now? It's the same trip to town she'd been on with Lotte, Sucy, and the others on many different occasions. Akko sighed and threw on a plain white shirt, her red short shorts, and a pair of black sandals. It was her go-to casual outfit and it made a good impression with everybody.
  115. "Hiiii, Akko!" a voice behind her alerted Akko, making her jump slightly. "Ready to see the best movie ever?" Geez, Keksandra was like a horror movie villain when it came to untimely arrivals.
  116. Akko turned and saw Keksandra standing in front of her, happy as a clam as always. For the first time since the new semester had begun, Akko saw her wearing her normal clothes. Keksandra wore her long, flowing purple dress with the smiling face on the front, a simple pair of black flats on her feet, and the oddly suitable Top Kek hat with the little rotating propeller on top.
  117. Akko admitted that it certainly was an attention-grabbing outfit, but if Keksandra could walk around wearing it confidently, shouldn't she be okay in her casual outfit?
  118. "Eheh, I'm ready to go, Keksandra," Akko nodded hastily, her little ponytail bobbing up and down.
  119. Keksandra jumped up and down on the spot. "Alright! Akkosandra Assemble!" she shouted.
  120. "What's Akkosandra?"
  121. "It's our names, together as one!"
  122. Akko felt her heart beating faster.
  123.
  124. Keksandra brought her broom outside to the Leyline Terminal and mounted it, ready to take off. Akko looked at the broom and her eyes widened.
  125. “Oh, damn! I forgot my broom!” Akko groaned, messing up her hair. “I’ll be back in-“
  126. Keksandra broke into a giggling fit. “Akkoooooo! We’re gonna fly together!” she laughed.
  127. Akko stopped herself from running back, but threw herself off balance and tumbled over. She grumbled and spat out a blade of grass as she stood up.
  128. “Aha, I knew that,” she lied.
  129. Keksandra placed a hand on her mouth to hold back her giggles. “It’s okay, you’re probably just so excited. Hold on!” she said, straightening her back.
  130. Akko stood behind Keksandra and mounted the broom, carefully wrapping her arms around Keksandra’s stomach and nestling her chin on her shoulder. She felt the butterflies awaken in her stomach again. There it was once more. That weird feeling she got whenever she was around...
  131. “Tia Freyre!”
  132. Akko felt the broom lift her up and instinctively held on tight. Soon, Keksandra was peacefully flying the broom towards the town on Blytonbury, through the magical leyline that Akko once fell out of.
  133. Akko tried to ignore the weird feeling in her stomach and closed her eyes. She imagined seeing Iron Man kicking Thanos butt and Captain America wrestling the gauntlet off of his hand. She saw the Guardians team up with Doctor Strange to execute portal tricks.
  134. Her focus shifted to Keksandra. She felt so warm and soft, her skin felt squishy and smooth. She could smell the pleasant scent of her hair, the pigtail of which blew into her face. Her dress felt so nice on her forearms...NO IT WAS GETTING WORSE.
  135. “Akko, wake up! We’re at the theater!”
  136.
  137. The outside of the theater was teeming with fanboys! Excited moviegoers, including some who cosplayed as their favorite heroes, were chattering away. The excitement was in the air, but Akko felt her chest grow heavy.
  138. “Mouuuu! There’s too many people! We’re never getting in!” she complained, turning to Keksandra, whose face remained as bright as ever.
  139. She watched her take off her propeller hat and fish out two strips from the inside. In her hand were two tickets to the movie.
  140. Akko was speechless.
  141. “I bought em yesterday after you said you wanted to go,” Keksandra explained. “Besides, it’s silly to try and buy them now! The movie would have sold out hours ago.”
  142. Akko couldn’t believe how thoughtful Keksandra was. She couldn’t resist hugging her.
  143. “You’re so smart, Keksandra!”
  144. She didn’t mind the butterflies this time.
  145.
  146. First came the snacks, then they showed their tickets (best seats in the house, too), and they watched all the previews. Finally, the movie began.
  147. Akko recognized Thor’s voice at the start. It was picking up right from where Thor: Ragnarok ended. Thanos has taken the Space Stone and killed Loki and Heimdall too. Akko gasped when she heard Loki’s neck snap. She thought he was amazing. He didn’t deserve to die, not when he was turning good.
  148. Then it all kicked up a gear. Doctor Strange and Iron Man met before being whisked into space with Spidey. The Guardians rescued Thor, who split up to hunt Thanos while Thor went to forge a new weapon. Wanda and Vision were ambushed, but then they were saved by Captain America. Akko and Keksandra cheered so hard when he stepped out of the shadows.
  149. Thanos took Gamora and the Reality Stone, Captain America and his gang went to Wakanda, and Iron Man’s team had a fortuitous meetup with the Guardians. The two were at the edge of their seats and the battle hadn’t even started.
  150.
  151. They cried out in horror when Gamora was sacrificed, covered their mouths when Thor took the force of a star, and cheered again when Thor landed in Wakanda.
  152. Akko’s right hand gripped the armrest of her seat. She nearly jolted when Keksandra’s arm rested on hers, but she was too engrossed in the awesomeness of the movie to take much more notice.
  153. “I AM GROOT!”
  154. “...I am Steve Rogers.”
  155. Akko and Keksandra laughed solidly at how Cap was so polite to a talking tree.
  156. The battle on Titan was incredible. They almost had Thanos’ gauntlet, but Akko and Keksandra simultaneously shouted “Noooo!” when Star-Lord ruined the plan. Their shock was replaced by awe when Thanos THREW A FREAKING MOON AT IRON MAN.
  157. The dual battles changed hands over and over. Vision and Wanda escaped the facility to fight, and the Avengers took out all the Children. The girls whooped when Iron Man began to fight Thanos mano e mano. But then, Thanos stabbed him, and Akko gasped raggedly. She felt Keksandra’s hand grip hers tightly. Thanos was about to kill Iron Man, but Doctor Strange exchanged the Time Stone for sparing him.
  158. The big moment finally came. Thanos came to Wakanda and effortlessly threw the Avengers aside. Akko felt her chest grow heavy when Wanda had to kill her own lover...and it grew heavier when Thanos simply reversed time and took the Mind Stone.
  159. But then, Thor to the rescue, and Akko and Keksandra cheered louder than ever before.
  160. ...followed by deafening silence.
  161. Thanos snapped his fingers.
  162. Half the heroes turned to dust.
  163. And the movie ended.
  164. Akko and Keksandra couldn’t believe it. They expected the Avengers to win. But they had lost. Spidey, Bucky, Strange, nearly all the Guardians, Wanda...they were gone.
  165. But after the post credits scene ended, they were filled with hope again.
  166. And only then did Keksandra remove her hand from Akko’s.
  167.
  168. As they left the theater, Akko and Keksandra were still coming to terms with what they had seen.
  169. “He...he actually won,” breathed Akko.
  170. Keksandra looked at Akko and sniffled. “I...when Spiderman was all like “I don’t feel so good” and he held Iron Man...that was so awful,” she mumbled. “He’s as young as us and he died in front of Iron Man.”
  171. Akko remembered how pained Spiderman’s voice was. The acting felt so genuine, it was as if the actor really thought he was going to die.
  172. “I hope they all come back and teach that grape not to mess with the Avengers,” Akko said, a hopeful tone penetrating her voice.
  173. Keksandra smiled. “Yeah. Thanos is gonna lose in the next one! And maybe Thor will aim for the head, LOLE!”
  174. Akko couldn’t help but giggle.
  175.
  176. a month later...
  177.
  178. Every night since the Infinity War screening, Akko’s dreams would feature her new teammate.
  179. She would appear so heavenly, her skin smooth and perfect, her smile endearing, her face so utterly adorable, and her voice like an angel. Akko could feel Keksandra’s hand wrapping around her trembling finger. “Akko-chan...I want you to know that I will always love you...” she would say.
  180. But they were just dreams.
  181. Akko started at the underside of the bunk bed above her. She was back in reality. To her left, Keksandra was peacefully snoozing and probably dreaming of something related to memes.
  182. Akko had figured out what those feelings meant. Every time she was around Keksandra, she felt tingly and warm. She couldn’t get enough of her selflessness, her spark, her cuteness. She reminded Akko of her younger self in a way. Akko treasured every single second she spent with Keksandra, so much that she would go into withdrawal whenever she wasn’t in the same class as her.
  183. Akko had a crush. A big, gigantic crush.
  184. She was smart enough to know that girls could love girls. Luna Nova already had some lesbian couples, and Akko suspected that Hannah and Barbara were growing a little closer.
  185. What plagued Akko from confessing was simple. What if Keksandra didn’t love her back? What if she couldn’t return the same feelings? What if it jeopardized her friendship irreparably?
  186. But Akko knew that she couldn’t bottle up her true feelings forever. It would make things worse. But she couldn’t risk losing her.
  187. She had to tell her.
  188.
  189. Akko silently rose from her bed and stumbled over to Keksandra. She felt her breath hitch in her throat. The nerve were trying to get the better of her. She closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths. “I can do this. I can do this. It will all be okay.”
  190. She leaned forward and gently placed a hand on Keksandra’s shoulder. “Keksandra?” Akko whispered.
  191. The girl stirred, her eyes fluttering half-open. “Urrr, Akko?” she asked. “Whut izzit...”
  192. She had an excuse ready. “I...uh...I had a bad night...dream...can I...” Akko stumbled over her words, “...can I hop in bed with you? F-for protection!”
  193. Keksandra shifted back and rolled over. “Okey dokey, Akko,” she whispered. Akko exhaled. So far, so good.
  194. Akko lifted the cover and gently slipped into Keksandra’s bed. As soon as she was snug and warm, Akko shifted close to Keksandra and placed an arm over her, spooning her gently.
  195. “Mmmmm, that feels nice. You’re really warm,” Keksandra sighed.
  196. The ponytailed witch felt her heart flutter. It felt like one of her dreams. Akko softly buried her face into Keksandra’s fluffy hair, feeling its bushy texture on her nose.
  197. She felt herself getting too close for comfort. Akko still had to do what she needed to.
  198. “U-uh...Keksandra...I-I need to talk to you...” Akko stuttered. “Could you f-face me for a sec?”
  199.
  200. Without responding, Keksandra turned over and faced her roommate. Akko inhaled gently. She saw the precious green orbs in her eyes staring warmly at her.
  201. “Whatcha wanna talk about?” Keksandra asked.
  202. Akko gulped. She hadn’t even thought about how to do this.
  203. “Ah-ah...well...u-um, do you like...magnets?” Akko stuttered. Real smooth, she thought bitterly.
  204. Keksandra smiled. “I think magnets are cool,” she whispered. “You know what I’d do with a magnet? I’d get a big strong magnet and fly around with it, and I’d get everyone’s loose change and become super rich!”
  205. Akko truly admired the positive, upbeat attitude that Keksandra had. It was so hard to make her sad. She seemed to always think happy thoughts, no matter what was hurting her.
  206. “Weeeell, you know how, like, magnets attract the change...and, like, magnets attract other magnets?” Akko asked.
  207. Keksandra nodded. “Like a fridge magnet?” she questioned.
  208. “Yeah, like a fridge magnet...and, uh, um,” Akko kept running her lips, desperately BSing her way through, “...and, uh, you can’t stop magnets from attracting things because they can never stop being attracted to things?”
  209. Akko felt more confident, because Keksandra was oddly engrossed by all this magnet talk.
  210. “Oh yeah, wouldn’t it be cool if you could make a magnet and you could turn off its attractiveness? That would be so useful, lole,” Keksandra suggested.
  211. Akko slapped herself internally. That didn’t go as planned, she thought, and there is a magnet like that.
  212. “I...I...Keksandra, f-forget what I said about magnets,” Akko quickly mumbled. “I have something that...I really need to tell you.”
  213. “Oh?” Keksandra asked.
  214. Akko shut her eyes tightly. This was it. She was going to tell Keksandra her true feelings. There was no going back.
  215. “Keksandra...I...I have a huge crush on you.”
  216.
  217. For thirty seconds, neither girl talked.
  218. Akko felt as if a huge weight had just come off of her chest. But no sooner than the weight had gone, had a new weight sunk into her stomach. She’d just confessed to Keksandra. Every second of silence made the weight heavier and heavier.
  219. She opened her eyes. Keksandra had taken it in, no doubt. She stared blankly, facing down and looking at her hands. Her smile was gone.
  220. “Oh...” she finally mumbled.
  221. Akko felt like she’d been doused in ice water. But before she could respond, Keksandra opened her mouth.
  222. “I...didn’t...really know you felt that way,” she continued. “I-I’ve never had anybody have a crush on me before.”
  223. Akko processed the revelation. It just didn’t seem right. Keksandra was so ridiculously loveable.
  224. “I-I wanted you to know...” Akko said, gulping hard, “...I really do like you that way...I’ve had dreams about you...and you make me feel so happy when I’m with you.”
  225. Keksandra managed a little smile.
  226. “But...” Akko continued, feeling a little bit of sadness course through her, “...i-if you don’t feel that way about me, it’s okay, I promise. I didn’t want to hide it from you because it was hurting me. I-I want us to still be friends...if that’s okay.”
  227. Keksandra reached out and held Akko’s cheek. “Akko...you’re the best friend I’ve ever had...a-and I wanna...I have something...I’ve never told anybody,” she admitted, “...but I really like girls. I don’t like boys that way.”
  228. Akko felt her heart jump at the news.
  229. “D-do you like me, like, like like?” Akko asked.
  230.
  231. Keksandra pondered for a few seconds. She thought about the first time she met Akko. She thought about sharing classes with her and sitting next to her. She thought about all the times she worked with her and practiced spells. She thought about the trip to see Infinity War. Her heart began to beat softer and softer. She reminisced with all the fun times she had with Akko. Her smile. Her joy. Her believing heart.
  232. And her heart believed too.
  233. “Yeah. I like like you,” Keksandra replied, smiling warmly.
  234. The news utterly overwhelmed Akko with joy. It had worked out. She’d come forward to tell Keksandra of her true feelings, and she had returned them. It couldn’t have gone any better.
  235. Akko scooted closer to Keksandra and wrapped her arms around her, hugging tightly. She felt tears escape her eyes. “Thank you, thank you, thank you,” she quietly blubbered. “I like like you too.”
  236. Keksandra couldn’t help but let a few tears slide down her face. She let Akko cry softly into her chest while she petted her hair.
  237. “Akko...are we girlfriends now?” Keksandra asked. “Cuz I wanna be girlfriends with you.”
  238. Akko sniffled and broke into a wide smile. “Of course we are, goofball,” she said.
  239. Keksandra giggled. “Are we gonna have pet names?” she asked. “I kinda like Goofball.”
  240. Akko thought for a moment. “Yeah, you’re my Goofball,” she agreed. “What will you call me?”
  241. “You’re my Akko-chan.”
  242. Akko’s heart was about to explode. The dream was all too real.
  243. “I love it...” Akko dreamily whispered.
  244. “Should we tell the others that we’re together?” Keksandra asked. “I kinda wanna keep it a secret for now...I don’t think I can handle the attention.”
  245. Akko smiled and softly ran her hand through Keksandra’s fluffy hair. “It’s alright, Goofball. I kinda wanted to keep it under wraps,” she admitted. “How about next week?”
  246. “Yeah. Next week.”
  247. “I love you, Goofball.”
  248. “I love you too, Akko-chan.”
  249.
  250.
  251. Akko fell asleep in the comfort of her new girlfriend, feeling the happiest she had been since she finally hovered on her broom. Her dreams throughout the night were among the best she'd ever had. She was laying in a meadow with Keksandra, who was dressed in an adorable flowery sundress and pink lace-up sandals, gently stroking her hair and calling her "Akko-chan" over and over.
  252. The amazing dream was interrupted by the snickering of a certain puce-haired witch.
  253. "Kikiki, looks like the idiot needs protection," Akko heard her say.
  254. Akko jumped up, startled and angry, unwittingly waking up Keksandra as she did so. "SUCYYYYYYY! I was NOT scared of anything!" she yelled. Her booming defense wound up waking Lotte as well.
  255. That got a reaction out of Sucy. "Oh? Then why were you in her bed?" she asked inquisitively.
  256. Akko was about to answer "because me and Keksandra are GIRLFRIENDS as of today and we are happy, thank you very much!" without thinking, but the promise she made crossed her mind.
  257. "...fine, I had a nightmare. Happy?" Akko grumbled.
  258. Sucy's shark-tooth grin refused to subside. "You're too predictable, Akko," she said.
  259. Keksandra rubbed her bleary eyes and yawned. "Sucyyyy, I get nightmares too," she said, backing her girlfriend up. "If I had a scary nightmare, I would have asked Akko if I could sleep in her bed."
  260. Lotte looked at the time on her crystal ball and groaned. "Come on, girls. It's too early. Can't we go back to sleep?" she asked.
  261. Akko raised an eyebrow. "Sleep? We can't sleep now! We've got classes!" Akko said.
  262. "It's Saturday, idiot," Sucy deadpanned.
  263. "...eh?"
  264. The ponytailed witch's brain slowly rebooted itself and recalled the classes she had yesterday. Chariot had given her class an assignment to complete over the weekend, and she also had to do a potions test.
  265. "Hehe, sorry, Lotte."
  266.
  267.
  268. Fortunately, Akko and Keksandra soon got a break. After a few extra hours of sleep, the two woke up to find their room empty. There was a note left on Sucy's desk.
  269. "I'm going to the Arcturus Forest to gather some rare bio-luminescent fungi. Lotte is going into town with Amanda and Barbara. We might not be back until it's late. Don't get scared to death while we're gone."
  270. Akko's face scrunched up. Sucy wasn't going to let her live that down. But soon, Akko's lips spread into a joyous smile. She had all the time in the world to spend with her new girlfriend.
  271. Keksandra sat up and faced Akko, placing her feet on the wooden floor. The witch turned around and practically skipped to Keksandra. She jumped on her mattress and shuffled behind her, sitting on her knees and rubbing her shoulders.
  272. "Soooo, you wanna do something, Goofball?" Akko asked.
  273. Keksandra sighed gently, enjoying the little massage Akko was giving her. "I liked cuddling. Do you wanna do more cuddling?" she requested.
  274. Akko thought to herself, but before she could answer, she glanced at Keksandra's hair. She didn't have her pigtails tied up. She would take her scrunchies out before she went to bed.
  275. "Hey, can I do your pigtails?" Akko asked.
  276. "Sure!" Keksandra agreed. "I keep my scrunchies under my pillow."
  277. Akko fished the two small green scrunchies out from under Keksandra's pillow. She held one in her lips and collected some of Keksandra's luscious brown locks together. She was having trouble trying to put the scrunchie on.
  278. "Mmm..." Akko sighed.
  279. Keksandra took notice. "Oh, you gotta stretch it open with your fingers and then you pull my hair through," she instructed.
  280. Akko did as she was told. To her pleasure, the job suddenly became very easy. Soon, both pigtails were done up nicely.
  281. "You did an awesome job!" Keksandra smiled, flipping her pigtails in her hands.
  282.
  283.
  284. The two lovers rested peacefully in Keksandra's bed. Akko stared at the underside of Sucy's bunk, a content smile plastered on her face. Keksandra was snuggled up next to her. She rested her cheek on Akko's chest, while Akko slowly caressed Keksandra's side.
  285. "Akko-chan..." Keksandra whispered.
  286. "Eh?"
  287. "Can we try holding hands?"
  288. Akko felt her face flush red. "O-oh, yeah, let's try that, Goofball," she stammered. She removed her arm from around Keksandra and placed it by her side. Keksandra adjusted herself and lay parallel to Akko. Her hand found Akko's, which gently caressed her fingers and poked at her palm.
  289. They both felt the heat rising up into their faces. Not since the Infinity War screening had they held hands, and even then, it was out of excitement. This time, it was purely because of love.
  290. Soon, Akko's fingers intertwined with Keksandra's and clasped her hand firmly.
  291. The two girls felt their heart rates rising. This is what it really feels like, they thought at the same time.
  292. "A-Akko-chan...th-this is...your hand is so soft..."
  293. "Y-you too, Goofball."
  294. They remained silent for a few seconds.
  295. "What does it feel like?" Keksandra asked.
  296. "W-well, uh...it's very warm...and your skin's really soft too," she said, "b-but I also feel the bond, like, I can feel your love. And it's really, really nice, like, I don't ever want to let go of your hand."
  297. Keksandra let a little squeak of joy escape her mouth. "Akko-chaaan, you're so poetic," she cooed. She lifted Akko's hand up to her lips and placed a tender kiss on her knuckles.
  298. Akko's heart was about to explode. That little kiss had tripled her heart rate instantly.
  299. "O-oh, wow, Goofball..." she huffed. "C-could you keep kissing my hand like that? I-if it's not too much..."
  300. Keksandra nodded. "It's okay, I really liked it too."
  301. She pulled Akko's hand forward and continued to softly kiss her knuckles every few seconds.
  302. Akko shut her eyes, enjoying the velvety, plush texture of her goofball's warm lips on her hand.
  303.
  304.
  305. Later in the day, Akko and Keksandra decided to settle their grumbling stomachs at the cafeteria.
  306. “We’re still gonna wait a week, right?” Akko asked.
  307. Keksandra looked up at Akko as she adjusted the hat on her head. “Huh?” she questioned.
  308. Akko blinked a few times, confused at how Keksandra seemed to forget the promise. “Y’know, before we tell everyone that we’re together.”
  309. “Oh-ohhhhh, ahaha, yeah,” Keksandra laughed, feeling slightly silly. “I almost forgot I said that.”
  310. Akko giggled as she slipped a pair of Vans on her feet. “That’s my Goofball,” she said.
  311. Keksandra felt her heart soften up. She truly loved her pet name.
  312.
  313. Figuratively, Akko had a lot of food on her plate. While Keksandra was eating vanilla pudding from a cup, Akko chowed down on some mashed potatoes, rice balls, and a big bottle of milk.
  314. The cafeteria was quite empty, and nobody was sitting near Akko and Keksandra. They decided to iron out a few things.
  315. “So, like, if we wanna wait a week, we should act natural around the others,” Akko suggested.
  316. Keksandra swallowed her mouthful of pudding. “Hmmm?” she asked.
  317. “Well, you know, when we’re with Lotte and Sucy, or Diana, or Amanda, or anywhere in public, we’ll just act the same way we’ve always acted,” Akko explained.
  318. Keksandra smiled warmly. “And we can be girlfriends when we’re alone together?” she suggested. Akko nodded eagerly.
  319. “Oh...when we’re in Professor du Nord’s class, can...” Keksandra started to say, but she paused for a moment, “...actually, never mind.”
  320. Akko cocked her head. “Eh? It’s okay, I’d like to know what it was,” she promised her.
  321. Keksandra quickly fed herself another spoonful of vanilla pudding. “Oh, like, when we’re in that class, could we try...holding hands between each other? Cuz, uh, we always sit up the back and nobody would really notice, right?” she suggested.
  322. Akko beamed. “That’s a great idea!” she replied, giving her a thumbs up.
  323.
  324.
  325. The rest of the weekend passed by normally for the new girlfriends. As Sucy and Lotte were relatively busy with friends, Akko and Keksandra found that they had a lot of alone time to be close together. While they would have wanted to enjoy nuzzling each other in bed, they both still had assignments to do.
  326. Thanks to their combined knowledge from Professor du Nord’s class, they were able to research everything they needed and get their assignments done in less than two hours. For their reward, Akko cuddled up with Keksandra and they talked for a while.
  327. “So, other than memes, what else do you really like?” Akko asked, feeling the warmth radiating from her cheeks.
  328. Keksandra sighed softly. “Ooh, I really love movies. Like, really reaaaally love them. I’ve seen, like, thousands of them,” she admitted.
  329. Akko smiled. “Wow, that sounds pretty cool. Why do you like em?”
  330. “Weeeell, I love stories, and movies are pretty much just a long story with a cool video,” Keksandra explained. A little idea popped into her head. “I have something cool to show you, actually!”
  331. Keksandra shifted away from Akko and got off of her bed. Akko watched and Keksandra got down and pulled something out from under her bed. It was a huge book with Keksandra’s name on it.
  332. “It’s my special movie book,” Keksandra said as she sat beside Akko and flipped open to a random page. Akko looked at the writing on the paper, noticing that each little paragraph was essentially a movie review.
  333. “1388. tomb raïder - 2018 - they made thïs movïe bc the other two from a whïle ago sucked lole. thïs movïe ïs really cool. ïts about a gïrl whose daddy went to some ïsland to explore a scary myth about thïs japanese queen, and then the gïrl decïdes to fïnd out what happened to her daddy and ït turns out theres these bad guys who want to use the queens power. then the gïrl kïcks theïr butts and her daddy sacrïfïces hïmself to save her! 8/10 - lara ïs cool now!”
  334.
  335.
  336. The other movies on the two pages were for Se7en and Disaster Movie (“the title is my review - 0/10 it bad”).
  337. “Oh, I forgot to add Infinity War!” Keksandra said out loud. She pulled out her wand and looked at Akko. “I know just what to write...”
  338. She skipped to the last page with writing and used her wand to put her thoughts to paper. Within a minute, her new review was finished.
  339. “1402. avengers: ïnfïnïty war - 2018 - thïs ïs the best avengers movïe ever! everyone ïs ïn ït and they’re tryïng to stop thanose. but he’s really powerful and he gets all the stones and he snapped hïs fïngers! now half of the superheroes are dead and that’s sad. there’s so many funny moments lïke when groot saïd hï to captaïn amerïca and he said ï am steve rogers back to hïm...buuuut ï thïnk the best moment ïs that ï watched ït wïth my future gïrlfrïend. ï love you akko-chan :). - 10/10 part two ïs gonna ruuuuule.”
  340. Akko raised her hands to her chest and gushed. “Ohhhh, Goofball,” she dreamily sighed. “You’re the best...”
  341. Keksandra closed her book and placed it back under her bed. “Sooo, what’s your favorite movie?” she asked her.
  342. Akko thought for a moment. “There’s this really awesome anime film called Ghost in the Shell...I think that’s my favorite movie!” Akko declared.
  343. Keksandra’s eyes widened. “I’ve seen those movies!” she excitedly shouted. “The first one is soooo cool! The music is really special, and the Major is such a cool robot! And I saw the second one but I didn’t like it...oh, oh, did you see the real life Ghost in the Shell they made last year? I thought it was cool!”
  344. Akko’s mouth gaped. “There’s a real life Ghost in the Shell!?” she gasped, utterly shocked. “I haven’t heard of it! You gotta show me!”
  345. Soon, the two were huddled up next to each other, wrapped in a blanket, watching the live-action Ghost in the Shell remake on Lotte’s crystal ball. Akko loved it to death.
