  1. "You're right, Miyo. I am selfish." Ichtaca's stone-hard countenance seemed to give way, and soften, almost as if he were back to his old self. His mouth even quirked, almost becoming a smile. Almost. But not quite...
  2.
  3. "I've admitted this to Elaine when she asked me about my motivations. After many many questions, I actually realized that at the very end of it all, what happens to Agartha matters little to me. All I want is to be with you, and for that, I am indeed, very selfish."
  4.
  5. He stares at the earthen spike contemptuously. As if he were staring at some invisible abyss that was luring him in...
  6.
  7. "I appreciate your attempts, but you do not break a man's heart and call it 'helping'. I'm afraid it doesn't work that way." A weary sigh escaped his lips as wiped his tears anew upon his crimson sleeves.
  8.
  9. "This is goodbye Miyo. I wish you and Elyon happiness, and success in the wars to come."
  10.
  11. And then just like that, he falls upon the spike, aiming it precisely where his lungs meet his abdomen- and along with them, all the vital organs within.
  12.
  13. How fitting that he should die like this, to have lived by the earth, and to die with its embrace.
  14. (Ichtaca)
  15. His nature wasn't the kind she wanted to be with, which is where they ultimately ended up. In this rough situation where he was suicidal and she was trying with all of Hel to convince him otherwise and tell him why life was more important, but alas... However hard she tried it wouldn't be enough, unfortunately.
  16.
  17. "Thank you, Ichtaca. I wish you the happiest life in rebirth-" Her hand juts out from below sapphire elegancy in order to cast illusions over Ichtaca's gaze as he's mid air-
  18.
  19. In the span of reality's few seconds, he'll view a Lifetime of happiness. He'll see his mother again. His family, extended, children of his own, and more until death will embrace him naturally in those visions.
  20.
  21. Just as Yoshi had shown her long, long ago in the past. A fitting ending, perhaps, that he'd be taken by the earth of which his prowess consisted of.
  22.
  23. But as vital organs are broken through in his neck as the earthenspike shreds through vitae, vein, and such alike, she flinches with the loud, muffled thud upon the floor. The darkness around his head disperses when those last breaths and beat of his heart are taken in this realm-
  24.
  25. And tears trickle slowly at first, forcing themselves to surface rapidly while blood flows along and within the floorboards.
  26.
  27. "I'm sorry that I'm responsible for this.. but I'll fulfill you a promise I've made to myself long ago when we first met, and I met her."
  28.
  29. The compression of gravity renders that spike to ash where blood spills the most then, gushing out... a cruel scene and gruesome. Her stomach curled with anxiety, and she wanted to absolutely bring up those contents, but..
  30.
  31. She had a single, last mission to do for the sake of this man.
  32.
  33. And so, as the metaphysical opts to repel the blood in his body to stay, she utilizes those airs around the fallen body in order to procure Ichtaca in order to take him to Gehenna and bury him with his mother.

  35. ----------------------------------------------------
  36. "Deep down it is." His last wish and her own. To put her best friend to rest, next to his mother's weathered gravestone.
  37.
  38. The endeless stream of mana extends further below the grounds. One layer after the next, digging out these piles of dirt that were perfectly sizeable for his resting place. Minutes passed by for what felt like an eternity as she dug, tiring herself out still with the continuous use of her mana ever since they left Huangzhuo.
  39.
  40. "I'm sorry, Ichtaca. You were a wonderful friend of mine. I'm deeply regretful that I didn't show more appreciation for you in this life for all you've done. I'll never forget you." Her eyes well up more with those tears that trickle down her cheek.
  41.
  42. His fallen body hovers over towards her, shifting upright for the Kitsune to grant him one final hug of him wrapped below her sapphire sheets and crying against the stained wrap. "I'm so sorry," she whispers, lingering in that hug briefly before letting go.
  43.
  44. "May you find your happiness and way in the next life, Ichtaca." Muffled sniffling could be heard from the little woman. "Spirits Protect, and will guide you on your journey through the stars- into rebirth." And knowing this man's willfulness, love, and how he thrived, his journey may be short for reincarnation.
  45.
  46. For he will grow again, rising back from the ashes to live life anew.
  47.
  48. Just like the Phoenix.
  49.
  50. And so, once her parting words are spoken, the Kitsune gently lowers Ichtaca's body into the grave next to his mother's, softly placed upon the earth which had taken him. But once the Kitsune's mana dispels around his atmosphere, the risen piles of dirt, controlled in bubbles of her power and natural world's softness, aim to settle atop and release to fill it.
  51.
  52. All in the meanwhile, Genmei will sing her sorrowful tune, for another has fallen; The lifestream's beautiful octaves are welcoming, reassuring, though sad all the while, and it wouldn't end until the last pile is placed on top, gently patted down with her own two hands, before being decorated with a single poppylus flower.
