  1. GOBLINS AND THE STAG—a curious party of five, two pairs of goblins and one mature stag slog onwards towards a nearby cave opening. This was the rumored troope of goblin scholars, an unusual outfit of creatures-all small bar one—that would be seen traveling the countryside at one end of the valley to the other, and even in the mountainsides as well.
  2.
  3. The troupe consists of Carbon, Comfort, Equanimity, Typewriter, four goblins of the Western coastal cave system, home to a distinct tribe of goblins. The goblins in the Western and Southern coastal caves have been bestowed sacred gifts from the past: pieces of text, sometimes bound in leather or thick paper bindings. These two cave systems house the population of goblins known collectively as the Fogmarsch goblin tribe. Their key export to many of the neighboring goblin tribes, as well as the nearby towns and settlements, are these pieces of text with writings on them. The Fogmarsch did not always know what was contained in these texts, and it wasn’t until many years after their discovery that they properly learned the system of writing contained in the texts and books.
  4. Once the languages were mastered, a new language system was established, with the ‘formal’ language being in the vein of the old discovered texts, while the ‘informal’ language being a mixture of the current Fogmarsch dialects and the new formal language. The Fogmarsch tribes devote much of their time and energy to maintain and stock their caves, to be sure—but they spent just as much time and energy in preserving, maintaining, and storing old pieces of texts from the old world.
  5.
  6. The last member of the troope, Ananke, stood out from the rest of the group. A strong young buck, Ananke was found when he was young by Carbon. The two met outside of the caves, during a storm where Carbon and Ananke both became lost. Their struggle throughout the storm brought the two together and the two became inseperable partners. This pair soon gained new members as they explored the valley, outside of the comfort of their old cave. Carbon and Ananke solved mysteries, worked odd jobs, acted as couriers, medicinal healers, and more, their pool of skills and labor growing larger with each goblin that joined the group. Carbon, early on, was known for their skills and knowledge in medicine, their healing ability, and their sublime tinkering skills. Comfort was a brewer, an alchemist, and a wise-goblin; Equanimity was a pale grey goblin that excelled as a bard, a historian, and a scholar; Typewriter, the last goblin, was known for their writing skills, gambling abilities, and their researching skills. Ananke, the deer, dedicated himself to being of help to the creatures and people that live in the valley—in its caves, mountains, and woods—by helping the group of goblins.
  7. Together, they are collectively known as one of the smartest and most helpful groups of goblins wandering the valleys, currently. Around and around, calls of “the great healer”, “master librarian”, “magic bard”, and “master brewer” spread around in the locality of the troop of goblins.
