  5. ----------
  6. I want the gang to discover a family photo of Mike's family that even Mike himself didnt know he had. They being to realize that either the skin condition runs in the entire family or that he is an actual human.
  7. -
  8. >"It's...it's gotta be hereditary, right," Rackham mumbled as he stared down at the picture, his eyes wide as they've ever been. "It's just a family thing, has to be..."
  9. >"No," Beanie would state as her gaze fell onto a certain figure. "It wouldn't explain the older woman there...looks like his mom."
  10. >"His dad could've found someone in common, you don't know what happened!"
  11. >While Beanie and Rackham quietly bickered about what they were seeing, the rest of their friends were having their own little episode over the weathered picture in Beanie's hand.
  12. >Fred was just staring blankly ahead, the photo apparently showing off a surprise party for a birthday or some such but that's not what had caused him to go silent. The security uniform Mike was wearing looked awfully goddamn familiar...but it had the wrong logos on it.
  13. >Very wrong logos.
  14. >Even Bonbon, Human Lover Extraordinaire, couldn't help but be silent at all the implications this all holds. Not a LONG silence mind you but long enough for her. "So...he was,,,he was doing all this stuff, fighting off the robots and watching my shows...while...being the real deal?"
  15. >The question was enough to silence the bickering of rabbit and fox and all eyes were on Bon who couldn't help but shrink down at the sudden attention. But she had a good question didn't she?
  16. >He did all this crap, put up with all of the nutty humie and humanitronic bullshit and said not one word. No offense apparently taken, no corrections spouted, he just took it all in stride...so what did it mean?
  17. >No one knew.
  18. >And no one would know what to do when the front door began opening...
  19. >...night shift just ended...
  20. ---
  21. I was inspired by the little story in the previous thread to write something
  22. >Mike never talked about his family much and whenever he did it would be vague
  23. >It was not so much that he was intentionally trying to hide something, it was more like he genuinely didn't remember much about his mom and dad
  24. >It's no secret to practically everyone in the complex that Mike suffers from amnesia, but the fact that it's so severe that he can't even properly remember his folks is a saddening thought to everyone
  25. >Some wanted to know more but respected Mike's privacy, so the topic of his family had been put on hold for a while
  26. >Until that night where more questions surfaced than answers
  27.
  28. >Mike spent the previous night at 93-A to play some poker courtesy of Rackham
  29. >Of course the fox won the game but It was a fun night nonetheless
  30. >The day after progressed as normal and soon gave way to night
  31. >It was around 11 P.M. where Beanie discovered that Mike forgot his old bag that he used too bring snacks and drinks for everyone during a game night
  32. >Beanie didn't think much of it, she'd give it to Mike in the morning
  33. >No need to bother him during his nightshift over an old bag
  34. >As she picked up the bag to move it to another location where she wouldn't forget about it she noticed something strange
  35. >Something was peaking outta one of the pockets, it looked like it had a golden frame
  36. >Beanie was just planing to gently push the object back into the pocket, but as she touched it she felt an urge to take it out and get a good look at it
  37. >She didn't want to at first, it would be wrong to snoop into Mike's belongings
  38. >But just one peek wouldn't hurt would it? If it was something personal it wouldn't be hiding in that old bag
  39. >As she took the object out of the bag, she immediately released what it was
  40. >A family photo
  41. -
  42. >Beanie stared at the photo for a good minute, processing what she was looking at
  43. >She realized standing in the living room looking at the thing would be a surefire way to get caught by the others
  44. >She quietly went to her room and locked the door, simply telling the others beforehand she was gonna sleep a bit earlier then usual
  45. >It was then that she admired the details of the image
  46.
  47. >It was a photo of 5 people, a family to be exact
  48. >A mother, a father, two sons, and a daughter
  49. >A perfectly normal photo
  50. >If it weren't for the fact that all of them were hairless apelike things
  51. >Just like Mike...
  52. >This was his family, that much was painfully obvious
  53.
  54. >Mike never specified on his condition, whether it was caused by a disease or was a mutation.
  55. >Beanie just assumed he was the black sheep of a family of normal chimps
  56. >But all of them have it, whatever it is
  57. >If it was just the mother or father who was like this then she'd just assume its hereditary. But both of em have it, meaning that there are at least two lineages like this
  58. >If that many hairless apes existed then more people would know about it
  59. >Doctors like her mother would document such a condition in the medical archives
  60. >But even mom didn't know much about what the hell was up with Mike other then the fact that in her opinion it was an extremely rare defect.
  61. >Even more disturbing is the fact that none of them even looked like what she'd consider a hairless chimp
  62. >No
  63. >They looked like humans
  64.
  65. >Before, she could safely say that Mike was a hairless ape that just so happened to look like a very convincing human
  66. >But now, like the skin condition, it was hard for it all to be a coincidence
  67. >If a family of mutants that looked near identical to the mythical and famous human existed, the media would have been all over it
  68. >Bonbon would've known about it on the internet ages ago given how obsessed she is with things like "human sightings".
  69. >The more she thinks, the more her head hurts
  70. -
  71. >This is gonna be a long sleepless night
  72.
  73. >After a few minutes of realizing that there is a possibility, even an apparent likelihood that these people are humans, you decide to temporarily ignore that huge detail and look at this image as it is meant to be
  74. >A photo of a family
  75. >At what seems to be a party
  76. >More specifically, a birthday party
  77. >You could assume that much from all the balloons and streamers in the background
  78.
  79. >You decide to look at each of the five one by one
  80. >If this is indeed his family then you want to know what the family of your close friend looks like
  81. >You know this is a big violation of privacy, you know Mike will probably be upset with you, but you want to... No. You need to know more about him.
  82. >Ever since you touched its frame, you can't keep your hands off of it, its almost like its forcing you to hold on
  83. >You have a feeling that you won't let go until you analysis every detail of this thing
  84.
  85. Yeah I think that thing is haunted Beanie, you should've thrown it in a fire the moment you touched it.
  86. -
  87. >The first person you look at is the Mother
  88. >And she looks exactly like how those weird humies portray human females
  89. >Except instead of wearing absurd and revealing skin tight clothes like how those creeps usually portray them, she is wearing a fairly normal looking green dress with a grey skirt
  90. >Its the kinda clothes a married woman and mother of three would wear
  91. >Hell, it seems like something HER mom would wear on a casual day out with dad
  92.
  93. >She's got unblemished pale skin, bright blonde hair, and emerald green eyes
  94. >She looks to be in her 30s, maybe even 40s, but you don't know how the hell human aging works (If they even are humans, but at this point it seems more and more likely)
  95. >She's got a gentle and kind look on her face and has a small smile
  96. >But something about her expression makes her look tired, perhaps even uncomfortable
  97. >Maybe its because she didn't sleep well the pervious night
  98. >Or maybe its because of the large, authoritative hand on her shoulder
  99. -
  100. >Said hand belongs to the next person you look at
  101. >The Father
  102.
  103. >The first thing that is apparent is this guy is tall
  104. >Even without any way to reference height you can just tell that this dude is big
  105. >He's a good foot taller than his wife (maybe even more), so tall that he barley fits in the photo
  106. >If you're a Beanpole then this guy is a Lamppost
  107.
  108. >He seems to be fond of purple given the very noticeable purple button-up shirt that contrasts with the relatively mellow colors that the rest of the family are wearing (you don't blame him, its a great color)
  109. >On his chest is a golden badge, the kind officers and guards wear
  110. >You can't make out whatever words are engraved on it due to how small they are (you doubt you could understand whatever language humans use anyway)
  111. >Guess security runs in the family, explains why Mike is a natural at it
  112.
  113. >The father has brown hair and the typical dad haircut
  114. >He's got dark blue eyes and a large, proud, and VERY smug grin
  115. >He's got the mug of the bread winning family man who says "Honey, I'm home!" whenever he comes back from the daily grind
  116. >The kinda dad who cracks the most unfunny jokes imaginable and thinks taking his kids on fishing trips counts as "a fun activity"
  117.
  118. >Even then... there is something very off about him
  119. >Something more sinister behind that smile, behind those eyes
  120. >The way he has his hands on his wife and oldest child
  121. >It all gives you a sense of ever growing dread
  122. >The longer you look, the more sinister this man becomes
  123. >You quickly take your eyes off him and look at someone else instead
  124. -
  125. >Your eyes wander to the oldest child
  126. >Judging by his looks and demeanor, he is definitely a teenager
  127. >He's wearing a dark grey tank top and navy blue shorts
  128. >But the thing that stands out the most is mask dangling on the side of his head
  129. >You cant make out the full details but it looks like a red fox mask
  130. >Now this wouldn't be that strange at first. A youth wearing the mask of another animal is something fairly common, especially during parties.
  131. >But its what is wearing the mask that gives disturbing implications
  132. >Wherever the hell humans lived, whether it be another mythical world or not, one thing is for certain
  133. >They are aware of her world
  134. >Perhaps the average human knows more about her world than the most dedicated human fanatic knows about about theirs
  135. >Have they been observing the whole time? Are those crazy theories about humans uplifting people true?
  136. >...
  137. >You are probably looking way to deep into this, its just a kid wearing a silly mask, they probably just have fox-like creatures wherever the hell they live
  138.
  139. >The kid himself looks like a spitting image of his father, down to the hair and eye color
  140. >The only difference is his slightly more tanned skin, most likely a result from an active lifestyle and being outside alot. He does seem to be the sporty type
  141. >His expression and body language has "angsty teen" written all over it
  142. >His arms are crossed and he is looking away from the camera instead of towards it like the others
  143. >He has quite the scowl, its obvious he doesn't want to be there
  144. >Honestly he kinda reminds you of your brother during his high school years, a period of his life he isn't really proud of
  145. >I mean just give that kid a leather jacket and a pompadour and he'd look like Bonworth's teenage humansona
  146. >Now that's an amusing image
  147. -
  148. >Next to the grumpy teen is a young girl, probably around 11 or 12 years old
  149. >If the older son took after his father, then the daughter took after her mother
  150. >She has the same fair skin and emerald eyes as mom, the only real difference is her hair is much more orange compared to her mother's golden blonde
  151. >She is wearing an adorable pink dress with a navy blue skirt and sporting a cute red ribbon
  152. >Her hands are politely held together in front of her and her expression is one of positivity
  153. >She has a genuine smile and honest look of joy in her eyes
  154. >She's the only one in the photo who looks truly happy
  155.
  156. >Judging from her mood and how the photo has her in the center it is safe to assume that she is the birthday girl.
  157. >There honestly isn't much else to look at from her, she seems like the most normal one with nothing unusual about her at all, just a well behaved girl enjoying her special day.
  158. >There is one last kid in the photo to look at
  159. >And Beanie truly regrets ever looking at him
  160. -
  161. Thank you for the kind words!
  162.
  163. >The last and youngest child in the family is a boy whose age is most likely in the single digits
  164. >He is waring a black t-shirt with two grey stripes and blue shorts
  165. >He has brown hair like his father and brother but unlike the other two men's dark blue eyes, his is a simple brown
  166. >The boy looks very nervous and shy judging from how he is averting his eyes from the camera and the general unhappy look he has.
  167. >There is nothing strange or noteworthy about a camera shy child
  168. >It's what the kid is holding that terrifies you
  169.
  170. >Gently held in one of the arms of the boy is a plush
  171. >A plush of a golden bear
  172. >Wearing a purple top hat and bowtie
  173. >Just like...
  174. >Him...
  175.
  176. >You thought you were done with this sh-t ages ago
