  1. Illithid ale was chewy. How do you even begin to make a drink chewy? Lian set back, several bandages pulled over one of his eyes as he half drank half chewed at his drink. "Hey keep, another one."
  2.
  3. The mindflayer looked back at the human sitting at it's bar. "We do not often have your kind in the City of the Glass Pool, and when we do it is often for a meal."
  4.
  5. "Haha, yeah, you eat brains, that's crazy. You know when you squids come to my place I don't tell them how many of your kind I've incinerated, okay? So let's try to keep this relationship professional and you just pour me another glass." Lian sighed. This trip was not going well. Besides all the road bumps and the chewy ale, what he feared the most had come to pass. The ladder of this conspiracy went all the way to the very, very top. He chewed his drink.
  6.
  7. "So, traveler, what brings you to the city then?"
  8.
  9. "Just wanted to see the sights. Meet up with an old friend. Talk current events. Just here for pleasure."
  10.
  11. The Illithid looked back at him. "You know, you resemble The Daras. One eye, dark skin, hair like a Drow."
  12.
  13. "Nah that isn't me. The Daras has both his eyes, he just hides one. Me?" Lian lifted up his bandage and peeled back his eyelid slightly, showing off the empty socket. "I was born with this."
  14.
  15. "Even so you keep it bandaged?"
  16.
  17. "Yeah."
  18.
  19. "And you walk here freely and not as a mind slave despite being just a traveler?"
  20.
  21. "Well, I wouldn't call myself JUST a traveler, just not The Daras."
  22.
  23. "And you're aware of who the Daras is despite it being strictly kept as a secret among the hivemind?"
  24.
  25. Lian sighed. "You're alerting them now, huh?" Tired, injured, and quickly running out of spells, Lian went over his options in his head. He finished the ale and looked at the bar keep. "It's a good thing you guys lack bones and not blood, I'll say that much." This next part would be tiresome, but it looked like Lian would be leaving the city tonight.
