This Friday marks the ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of ForeverGrind.fm!

Thank you all for your continued support of the channel and me personally. It's been a rough year emotionally and financially and I'm lucky to have such a compassionate community to support me in both those areas. You all inspire me to be a better me. I can't thank you enough.

That said, Friday will be the end of the ForeverGrind stream at <https://twitch.tv/greenham>.

In reality, on Friday, around Noon Pacific, the stream will be moving to its new home at <https://twitch.tv/fgfm>!

This isn't just a lateral move, though. This is v2, bae b.

Version 2 is essentially a complete rewrite of the system that I've been working on the past few months. v1 started simply as a proof-of-concept that I started messily tacking things on to and it was getting unwieldy.

I'll likely do a larger writeup and possibly some streams of the behind-the-scenes at some point, but for now... let's get to the launch features and what I have planned for down-the-road.


**New Website**

The current website at <https://www.forevergrind.fm> is simply an embed of the stream, which is neat, but doesn't really serve much purpose.

Requesting videos from chat is a cumbersome process, and the current formatting of the ID lists is suboptimal.

The new website will feature a filterable and searchable list to facilitate easier browsing of the video library to find the ID you're looking for.

I'm keeping the set of launch features small since this is a massive overhaul, but I have a lot planned for the website and stream itself, including, but not limited to:

- NEW CONTENT! Over the coming months I'm going to be reaching out to folks seeking permission to include their content in the rotation and I'm excited to announce that mooglemod has agreed to share noobsplice! I'm still looking to keep the content primarily focused on speedrunning, but I'd like to expand beyond ALttP and the games I run.
- Ability to request certain videos to be played WITH audio -- for tutorials and memes, mostly
- Display the track currently playing on Spotify - no more need for typing !song then $song!
- Stats tracking for users and videos
- Video details popup when you click on Now Showing or anything in the Library -- video description, notes, stats.
- Automated music playlist rotation: scheduled blocks with a set playlist but also blocks where users can vote on what to play next
- Song guessing game -- hide the track info on the stream+website, first to type in a match wins points!
- Stream alerts for chat and web -- to promote other runners, community members, friends-of-the-stream, etc.
- A limited set of admin controls for stream moderators (instantly skip videos, show/hide certain elements, ban users from requesting)

Now that the codebase is in a much more manageable state, it's going to be a lot easier to add new features without having to take down the entire system with it.


**Okay, but... why move the stream?**

For clarity, mostly, but also motivation.

Having to interrupt fgfm if I wanted to stream was preventing me from doing so. No one knew if I was ever actually live or not. This way, if you see greenHam go live on Twitch, you'll know I'm actually live. I GET TO HOST PEOPLE AGAIN HECK YEA!

I'm hoping this will motivate me to stream more often. I want to maintain affiliate and I've got a lot of promised streaming to catch up on: ALttP 2x, Majora's Mask, Z2, FF7...

I'd also like to hit affiliate on fgfm -- we all need more FRANKENTERRY emotes in our lives.
