The Dossier

The Matron's Suite.
Set above the rest of the Pavilion, this suite could easily be mistaken for a throne room. A grand, raised dais at the far northern end of the room houses a single, golden throne at the apex of five steps to place it well above anything else within the Suite. Within, the solid gold that was visible on the outside reveals itself to be translucent from this side, allowing occupants to survey every inch of the Pavilion with ease. Opulent in the extreme, pillars of solid gold support a domed ceiling which is painted with ancient glyphs and magical wards that brighten and dim as though with a living pulse. Beyond this, the room is left bare of decoration save for simple globes of soft orange light that float like so many stars throughout the air. A spiral staircase at the far south of the hall leads down to the dance floor, its dark iron a harsh cry from the rest of the room. Pressing a taloned finger against her cheek, Matron Taschelin looks about with a bored expression. A white phoenix perches here, her fiery plumage illuminating the area with golden sparks. Limned with holy fire, a radiant archangel hovers here, wings outstretched. Flesh Mistress Pash, the Lightning Blossom floats here amidst an etheric storm of shifting realities and rainbow-traced quiddities. She wields Gauntlets of Whispers in her left hand. Caliph Hiresh Ryseni, a Newly-Forged Blade is here, shrouded. She wields a massive nut shield in her left hand. Minister Ovissa Ryseni, a Standup Guy is here. Playing a spirited song on a wooden pan flute, an alluring sileni frolics here.
You see a single exit leading down.

You glance at Hiresh and absently tap your claws together, making a sharp clacking sound.

You smile and say, "It is, yes."

Holding a small booklet in her hand, Matron Taschelin says, "Excellent. We only made one copy, so I will leave that to you all to unpack."

Extending a hand, you say, "I am excited to see what you have come up with."

Matron Taschelin gives a discreet dossier booklet to you.

Sleek, subtle, and bound in matte black leather, this discreet dossier
booklet scarcely merits a second glance. Its rigid spine and covers bear
no adornment save for a small white panel inlaid front and centre. The
pristine pages are similarly spare, marked only by crisp black lines to
be filled with all manner of clandestine records and reports.
It is entitled "Assorted Dossiers - Flamewright" and the author is listed as being Hareatho Schoro.
It is written in the common tongue.

The unknown individual or individuals known as the Flamewright became
active in late 618, primarily through publications distributed in poorer
parts of the cities. Their manifestos appear primarily to be a
condemnation of the city government and the guilds that form it, seeking
to abolish a government of the guilds and create a council of the
'disenfranchised'. Little is known about the individual or individuals
behind the identity of the Flamewright, but given their ability to
silently spread their word without detection by other factions within
the city, it is believed they are either a skilled paradigmaticist,
trained in the Illithoid martial arts, or working closely with an
individual who qualifies.

In recent years, the Flamewright has chosen a number of trusted
lieutenants to handle matters on their behalf, pulling from the most
loyal and skilled of their followers. While the revolution promised by
the Flamewright has thus far been non-violent, with some exceptions and
disregard of their war with the Shibchoyi syndicate and family, many of
their followers within the city have been smuggled out only to return
with martial training. Individuals who have undergone this training and
been questioned note there is a training camp in the Skarch funded by
the Flamewright with a number of instructors skilled in martial and
pyromantic combat.

Given all known information on this individual, the author of this
report believes the individual or individuals in question to be highly
dangerous but does not believe them to be working alone. Recommended
course of action is Gnosis or Excision.

Born to Aruagmo Saim and Riro Xeth in the city's outskirts, Cheesaba
Saim was homeless from the age of four due to the death of his parents
due to a plague localised to the southeastern slums in 603. Saim was
unable to leave this area until 606 when the cordon on the area was
released by the Shibchoyi syndicate after the plague subsided. Cheesaba
was permanently injured by the disease in question, causing partial
hemiplegia on the left side of his body and blindness in his left eye.
No other living family could be found, nor are we aware of any such
connections.

Saim lived as a beggar until the year 610, at which point he disappeared
to an unknown location until 620, during which time he appears to have
received formal schooling and an influx of funding from some unknown
source. Upon his reemergence, he would act as a diplomat for the
Flamewright, enacting in outreach and attempting to broker deals with
various neighbourhoods within the city and maintaining the wall of
silence that was vital in furthering of the Flamewright's
indoctrination. Notably, he does not appear to engage in subterfuge and
uses his given name in all affairs.

Saim is a known pacifist and is unlikely to be a threat to any one
individual. Due to his kind and open nature, as well as his direct
influence in the material assistance for much of the city's poorer
neighbourhoods, the author of this document recommends against Excision
as a course of action at the time of writing.

Born to Arumo Thech and Denaa Rhiero in a southern edge-facing
neighbourhood of the city, Harthi Rhiero was brought up from a young age
by his grandmother Moschomi Rhiero after the death of his parents.
Rhiero would learn to hunt from a young age and receive formal martial
training as a child from his grandmother, being trained in the arts of
swordplay as well as the use of basic handmade weapons, trapping, and
some minor use of paradigmatics. For much of his youth, Harthi was a
hunter for the citizens of this neighbourhood, hunting small and large
game in the deeper depths of the Skarch Desert.

It is unclear how Rhiero became tied in with the Flamewright, but
information gleaned from captured individuals who took part in the
Flamewright's training camps noted that Rhiero was an instructor there
between the years of 622 and 625 and had a reputation for merciless
drilling that would exclude those not fit for physical warfare, often
leaving those who fail for dead out in the deep parts of the desert with
no rations. From 625 onward, Rhiero has taken the blame publicly for
several assassinations, notably including two leading members of the
Shibchoyi family and a number of merchants within the city.

Rhiero's favoured weapon appears to be a rudimentary, handmade bow which
he has honed to his own use, but he has been known to use a katana as
well. Notes from those who knew him as he grew up note he seemed to show
no outward remorse and even delighted in the suffering of others but
held a distinct fondness for his grandmother. Notable incidents brought
to light include the torture of several small animals and the brutal
torture and exsanguination of two children who stole from his
grandmother.

Rhiero is to be considered dangerous and only to be handled by
experienced individuals. Excision is recommended, and we do not at this
time see a reason to recommend Gnosis as an alternative.

Born to Warin Dix and Hareai Xeth, Dix was the youngest of thirteen
children produced by the couple amongst the countless other
half-siblings and cousins by way of her father and uncles (see auxiliary
report on the Dix bloodline.) Competent with pyromancy from a young age,
Dix was provided a tutor by her father as soon as her talents began to
emerge. Deemed a prodigy from her youth, she honed her skills in the
rich and loving home of her parents in the Skarch. During her adulthood,
she left her home for the big city, hitching a ride with her father
during his exodus to apply as stablemaster of the city, and became a
kebab seller for the next two to three years in the Grand Bazaar where
her stall, Dix Kebabs, became known for having the perfect char on her
meat.

Some time later, she retired her stall and went on a pilgrimage to
whereabouts unknown with the profits from her culinary venture,
returning to the city some weeks later accompanied by two wakabi with
firegem barding, both of which she promptly sold for an apartment within
the city. She worked as a flamedancer for a short time before apparently
joining the Flamewright's cause - There is no apparent catalyst for this
or, frankly, any of her changes in venture. While under the
Flamewright's employ, she is responsible for multiple counts of arson
and assault, though quite unusually has no known murders to which she
has been attributed. Despite her tendency to burn down houses and
communal buildings on behalf of the Flamewright, she is reported to be
excessively polite and cheerful to the point of uncanniness.

Dix is considered to be a threat and is to be treated with caution. The
recommended course of action is Gnosis.

You say to Pash, "Very interesting, yes."

Tonatiuh exists abruptly in this location, surrounded by dissolving, rainbow-hued butterflies.

Vyell ponders a discreet dossier booklet thoughtfully, looking it up and down.

Kihr tilts back his head and inhales deeply while twitching a wolf's snout.

You say, "I am not surprised to know that Moschomi and Mesadari share relation, but the knowledge that one of her grandchildren is so closely involved with the Flamewright is something of a concern. Is she unaware, or leading us on hoping we would not find out?"

Tonatiuh tilts his head a fraction.

You say to Tonatiuh, "We have obtained a dossier of the Flamewright and their lieutenants."

Tonatiuh al-Saaoud, Oracle in Indigo says, "Sounds promising."

Matron Taschelin says, "The relation is distant enough that I am unsure it is acknowledged. Regardless, I do not see Mesadari turning traitor."

You nod solemnly to Matron Taschelin.

Flesh Mistress Pash, the Lightning Blossom says to you, "Moschomi did call the Flamewright an idealist, and did not seem to like them too much..."

Matron Taschelin says, "Ah, I should have had it written to be clearer. It is an old euphemism for interrogation."

"Ah. That is a logical euphemism," Pash muses.

Flesh Mistress Pash, the Lightning Blossom says, "I assume 'excision' is death..."

"Hm. If they speak Dracnari, there is a high chance they are dracnari," Pash muses softly observing a discreet dossier booklet closely. "...but it is not impossible they are a linguist..."

Tonatiuh al-Saaoud, Oracle in Indigo says to Pash, "May I see the dossier once you're done?"

People's Steward Vyell D'Cente, Desert Sage says, in Dracnari, "I'd half expect anyone in Gaudiguch to speak dracnari from exposure."

With a twisted grin forming at her lips, Matron Taschelin says, "Of course not. Killing citizens of the city is against the One Law. Of course, if their identities were to be forgotten or lost or, perhaps, entirely changed, they would no longer be citizens and no longer bound to the Law."

People's Steward Vyell D'Cente, Desert Sage says, "It's out of love for the many that we stop the evils of a few. Such is the responsibility to the Council and its interpretation of the Law to the times."

Steward Kihr Ryseni, Scribe of Illumination says to Matron Taschelin, "That is...extremely clever. The fact that one could do such a thing, no, many someones could so such a thing is baffling. And right under our snouts too."

Absently, Flesh Mistress Pash, the Lightning Blossom says, "I see a trend among many of them, in that their close family are primarily dead."

Matron Taschelin says, "It is more than likely. Vulnerable individuals are easier to manipulate."

Tonatiuh taps the dossier in his possession and raises an inquiring brow to those standing here.

"Indeed," Pash muses.

You say to Hiresh, "We now have a name for the assassin we so nearly brushed elbows with, as an aside. I would consider tracking his location to be of the most pressing importance."

Ovissa offers the booklet to Kihr.

You say, "I am certain there is little of important concerning the plethora of Dix."

You smile wryly at Tonatiuh.

Matron Taschelin says, "Excluded as it contained no useful information, unless you particularly wish to see the results of a man who does not know when to stop propagating his Dix."

Locking her eyes on Hiresh in an uncomfortable stare, Pash blinks one amphibious eye, pausing briefly before she blinks the other.

Flesh Mistress Pash, the Lightning Blossom says to Hiresh, "...why would I do that? Then it would be inaccurately spelled."

Caliph Hiresh Ryseni, a Newly-Forged Blade says to Pash, "You too can understand the dirty humor if you try!"

Hiresh waggles her eyebrows comically.

You tell Matron Taschelin, "I have no questions involving the dossier at this time, but I do have other questions. Personal questions. Perhaps better served while everyone else is dispatched to follow some lead or another."

With an indifferent stare, Pash slowly blinks one eye and then the other.

Kihr tilts back his head and inhales deeply while twitching a wolf's snout.

Matron Taschelin says, "One more matter then. The invitation has been accepted, but they appear to have the desire to be fashionably late."

Flesh Mistress Pash, the Lightning Blossom asks Matron Taschelin, "Wakabiherds are useful. Are most not bad people?"

Caliph Hiresh Ryseni, a Newly-Forged Blade says, "Wait, the invitation, is it today?"

Matron Taschelin says, "No. They will arrive when a proper dress has been chosen for the occasion, or some such nonsense."

"Dresses are very unnecessary garments," Pash murmurs.

You caress the thoughts of People's Steward Vyell D'Cente, Desert Sage as you whisper, "I would like you to lead the interrogation of Moschomi. Whether you do so with or without an audience is up to your discretion, but her dishonesty concerning her grandson's involvement in this would-be revolution is concerning."

Matron Taschelin offers a discerning glance toward you, nodding briefly before stating, "Well, if matters are concluded, please do feel free to enjoy the entertainment. Or do not, I am not your collective mother." She leans back in her throne, watching.

Vyell tells you, "Very well."

You caress the thoughts of People's Steward Vyell D'Cente, Desert Sage as you whisper, "I have further business with the Matron, once everyone has made sufficient egress."

Caliph Hiresh Ryseni, a Newly-Forged Blade says, "The only company I will persue is your own Matron Taschelin, be well until that day."

Flesh Mistress Pash, the Lightning Blossom says, "This is good taste. The matron is very beautiful."

Pash places her palms together, bowing forward politely.

Kihr ponders between his daughter and the Matron. He shrugs and nods at Hiresh. "No advice there, you know my tastes." He snickers.

Matron Taschelin glances toward the inner part of her right wrist idly.
