According to data published by Social Films , Sonic's visual change in theaters was extremely well accepted. The new official trailer got 672,652 likes in the first 24 hours alone, a 360% increase over the original.

It is noteworthy, however, that this came at a very high cost for Paramount Pictures .

The new look, now much more true to games, cost no less than an additional $ 35 million in the budget, originally estimated at $ 90 million.

Of that $ 90 million, somewhere between $ 20-30 million would be earmarked especially for Sonic. That is, in the final account, it had to spend almost double, and the budget will be over $ 120 million.

Interestingly, $ 2.1 million of the additional investment went into the new trailer alone.

The film follows Sonic's adventures as he tries to adapt to new life on Earth with his new best human friend, policeman Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try to prevent villain Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his powers to dominate humanity.

Directed by  Jeff Fowler , and produced by Tim Miller (Deadpool) and Neal H. Moritz (Fast and Furious), Sonic: The Movie features Jim Carrey , James Marsden , Tika Sumpter , and Ben Schwartz  as the voice of Sonic. , which in Brazil will be voiced by Manolo Rey.
