  1. New Setting basis:
  2.
  3. 1. Power from ideas
  4.
  5. Everyone who wishes to be somewhat powerful must have a philosophy, manner of thought, or concept they devote their lives to. The more people believe in that very concept, the more powerful it gets -> the more powerful it's originator gets.
  6.
  7. 2. Defender Spirits
  8.
  9. Giant Stand-like beings, exist sealed within people, mostly focused around a body-part, more often than not the eye. Are created partly from an 'Idea-being', an embodiment of the ideas that give power from point 1. which is the 'soul' of this creature, and an 'Art' which creates the body.
  10.
  11. 3. Parallels
  12.
  13. Large lines of raw energy that go through the land, some even go in the form of rivers. They both provide life to the surroundings, but at great concentrations, poison it instead. Parallels have attributes like density, purity etc. They are called Parallels because they exist in the exact same state, in the world of Idea-beings (they are paralleled from the ones in the material world).
  14.
  15. 4. Cities
  16.
  17. Strange architecture for cities and other settlements, which are built in the crossings between two or more parallels. Architecture is designed to make the best of the Parallels in the area. Biggest city is known for 'purifying' the Parallels that cross through it, also, built beneath a giant rift in the sky that physically connects the Idea-world and the physical world.
  18.
  19. 5. Primordial Language
  20.
  21. An ancient, highly complex language with mystical qualities that used to be spoken by everyone. As the ancient people waged war, they stopped 'listening' to eachother and the language became lost. Certain Arts from the point below can use/awaken it.
  22.
  23. 6. Several 'Arts' which are used to goad or command Idea-beings, and to forge the bodies of the Defenders.
  24.
  25. - Alchemist: Transmuting physical and idea-matter, by applying a set of processes to it. Uses a 'circle of life' which is a complex 'mapping' of the connections between things. Circle of Life requires Catalysts, to achieve processes. E.g connection between 'wood' and 'ash' requires a catalyst of 'fire' (very basic example). They are tasked with seven great projects, of great importance.
  26.
  27. - Doll-makers: Use various materials and tools to create automated bodies. Considered similar to mechanics, however their work is considered incredibly precise. It is said that the Curse of the Doll-Makers reins over them: A Doll-Maker cannot mass-produce their work, nor can they understand the work of another Doll-Maker, making their every creation unique. Word of Doll Makers who can make sentient dolls has spread all over the world, something once thought of to be a dream, and still looked at with disbelief.
  28.
  29. - Gardeners: Secluded people who tend to a garden, that can beckon an Idea-being to live in it. The garden is protected by the Idea-Being, and by carrying a flower from said garden, the Gardener can use a form of abstract teleportation to get to it, for example by going through a door and winding up there, fading into the mist, or crossing over the other side of a mountain (rule of thumb: they must not be seen by other people when doing this). They have a hard time operating Defender Spirits, however the ones who learn how to do so are considered to be close to Ideas themselves.
  30.
  31. - Oneironauts: People who wander in the world of dreams. They are a rare breed, largely gathering in Morphe-Selene, where the boundary between the two worlds is thinnest. Oneironauts use Defender Spirits that originate from Dream-people, who are like Ideas, except born out of Dreams. Their status is very hotly debated among those who research the nature of Ideas and Dreams. Their Defender Spirits are incredibly powerful when entering people's dreams, and experienced Oneironauts can enter the world of Dreams themselves.
  32.
  33. -Inkmen: Artists who express their mastery through the usage of Ink. The two branches are quite competitive towards one another, due to their different approaches to color and expression, as well as the debate over the belonging of the Supreme Ink:
  34.
  35. - Calligraphists: Originally called 'Writers', they can write various stories, sayings or simply words, using the ancient
  36. Primordial Language. It's meaning can be understood by anyone who reads it, even if they don't understand the words. It is impossible to teach, and must be learned on one's own, if they possess the gift of Calligraphy. Calligraphists can bring things into existence, from their writings, and sustain it as long as the writing remains intact. Detail makes it more potent and 'correct' in many ways.
  37.
  38. - Painters: Use special-issue paint-brushes that can change the color of the ink it's dipped in by listening to the emotions of the handler. The paintings can either come to life on their own, or be added to existing objects to enchant or alter them somehow. It is said that the greater the Painter, the more likely they are of developing a rough case of dyslexia.
  39.
  40. - Speakers: People gifted with the ability to communicate in the language the Calligraphists write in. It possesses the ability to be understood by everyone. Speakers can be great at arguing, or telling stories, reciting ancient epics or poetry and whatnot. It is said that an ancient Idea-Being cursed Speakers so that whatever they write on their own, will put people to sleep, no matter it's quality. This is as of yet unproven, but a powerful superstition can have an effect regardless of it's truth.
  41.
  42. - Performers: People who perform to an audience, in a stage or elsewhere. They possess the ability to conjure vivid imagery and illusions with their performance. Unlike Inkmen who use detail to empower their art, Performers instead rely on emotion: the higher the impact on the Performers' audience, the greater their power:
  43.
  44. - Dancers: People who use various dances and motions, to seduce Idea-beings or to more innocently enchant them with their great talent. Dancers use ancient scrolls, that depict motions required of them. They are not locked off other Arts in any way, and are quite versatile, but unfortunately they can never develop a true talent on any such fields.
  45.
  46. - Musicians: People who possess dominion over emotions, capable of evoking them in other beings, including Idea-beings, and control them via said emotions. Can also sense them somewhat. They do this through music, although it leads to them listening to strange sounds, in their daily lives or their dreams. It is said they have a greater tendency than usual of going mad as a result of this.
  47.
  48. - Magicians: Stage performers, who use various tools to conjure illusions of certain sorts. They absolutely require a 'neutral' audience, when using their art on someone in particular, and the more said audience believes them, the more concrete the illusions get. Magicians are a form of 'pure' performer, who does away with the use of intermediary tools to conjure illusions: While dancers and musicians seek to please the eyes and ears respectively, before conjuring mirages, Magicians skip that, and entertain through deceit.
  49.
  50. 7. Castes and segregation.
  51.
  52. Society divided into 4 castes, generally. Some more democratic places do away with the system and tend to employ a merit-based setting of social status:
  53.
  54. -Leaders of a particular place, who use an Art, as well as their Art using followers.
  55.
  56. -Their non-Artist Followers, as well as other Artists who do not follow them, but do not oppose their ideas either.
  57.
  58. -Normal folks, who do not follow the ideas of the leaders, without conflicting them, or do not follow any ideas at all.
  59.
  60. -Undesirables: Criminals or depending on the place, people who directly oppose the ideas of the leadership, no matter whether they are Artists or not.
