  1. The point of science
  2.
  3. The reality in which we live is a world of infinite complexity. This soon becomes apparent when you try to categorize certain phenomena into categories. The number of usable categories continues to increase because new exceptions are discovered that do not fall within the current options. As a result, communication differences can arise quickly, simply because two people think they are talking about the same category while this is not the case. In our everyday life such a case is not extreme, and can easily be solved with a little extra communication. But when drawing up an objective description of our reality, such problems are much more drastic.
  4.
  5. The solution that we have come up with as a human being is to gather the scientific method of information. This is a systematic way of obtaining information that strives for objectivity. The phenomenon is observed, and then the observation is noted. Such research is done by several independent researchers, after which only the information that is agreed by everyone is allocated. In this way, the actions taken, the different perspectives, and other subjective influences on the phenomenon are eradicated. What remains is an objective explanation for the phenomenon, which is getting closer to reality.
  6.
  7. This is an important difference with the objective truth, because science does not so much claim that what it describes is really the truth. If science were to think that what they are describing is the objective truth, it would mean that there is no longer any need for further investigation after a phenomenon has been described. Yet it regularly occurs that new research points to other explanations than those that were given before that time. These new statements better reflect what is seen in reality. The descriptions of science are in a way stories with the maximum capacity for people to describe the phenomenon at the present moment. The stories are tools that give us access to modern medicines, cars and computers.
  8.
  9. This tool sometimes needs to be renewed, or replaced altogether. And that is precisely the central point that all science is about. Because this innovation can only take place as an improvement of the old tools; you can not just do something new and expect it to be better than what you did first. The discoveries of the past, regardless of how accurate these were, are the only way for us to ask the next series of questions that give better answers. It is then logical to assume that this process can gather a lot of objective data over a longer period of time about the fundamental reality in which we live. This comes, as mentioned earlier, by the infinite complexity that nature is of our reality.
  10.
  11. Yet there remains a certain problem with this approach to reality. Namely, how many facts you have about the objective reality, the facts do not speak for themselves and do not show what the right way of action is.
