Yogiri slipped through the black lines that were tracing around him one after another. The lines of death represented a certain, absolutely fatal danger. But on the other hand, if he didn’t let the lines touch him, he would never die.

A moment after he moved, a fur-covered arm passed through the space he had just occupied. Yogiri was dexterous. He had always been physically above average and could learn. He appeared to have poor reflexes, but was actually just lazy and lacking in stamina.

He seemed to be somewhat trained since coming to this different world. He dodged with minimal movement, so it wasn’t that tiring.

Right now, Yogiri’s abilities were being tested, so the members of Group Two were watching him from all around. He was currently locked in combat with a slender, caveman-like creature. About the same size as a human, one might think it was a kind of monkey, but its four arms put a quick end to that notion. Yogiri was busy evading it for that reason, but its movements were simple.

Having figured out his opponent’s methods, Yogiri moved to attack back, swinging his sword along the lines of death. He could be sure that his enemy would be on the other end, so it was effectively a counter. But as expected, Yogiri wasn't skilled enough to fell it with a single blow, even with an enhanced weapon.

However, the impromptu swordsmanship he learned from Tomochika allowed him to show off his power. He repeated this a number of times, and when the monster exhausted itself and stopped moving, Yogiri delivered the finishing blow.

“Not bad, I guess,” Haruto said in assessment. Yogiri thought he had done well, but there seemed to be no mistaking what he said.

“What’s with you? I can see from your movements that you're an amateur, yet you dodged every attack without fail. Your swordsmanship is nothing impressive, but you landed every hit. You remained calm from start to finish, and delivered the finishing blow without being in a hurry...” David was dumbfounded. It seemed that was the evaluation of someone who practiced swordsmanship.

縦 に 横 に 斜め に。 次々 に あらわれる 黒い 線 を 夜霧 は かいくぐっ て い た。 　 それ は 死線 で あり、 その 線上 に いれ ば 確実 に 死ぬ。 だ が 逆 に、 その 線 に 触れ さえ し なけれ ば 絶対 に 死ぬ こと は ない。 　 夜霧 が 動い た 一瞬 後、 それ まで い た 場所 を 毛むくじゃら の 腕 が 通り過ぎ て いく。 　 夜霧 は 器用 な もの だっ た。 もともと 身体 能力 は 高い し、 学習 能力 も ある。 運動神経 が 悪い よう に 思わ れ て い た のは、 怠け 癖 と、 単に 体力 が 不足 し て い た だけ だっ た。 　 異 世界 に 来 てからの 経験 で 多少 は 鍛え られ た の だろ う。 最小限 の 動き で かわし て いる ため か、 それほど 疲れ ても い ない。 　 今、 夜霧 は 戦闘 能力 を 試さ れ て いる ところ で あり、 グループ ２ の 面々 に 戦い の 様子 を 見 られ て いる の だっ た。 　 夜霧 が 戦っ て いる のは、 細身 の 類人猿 の よう な 魔物 だ。 大き さは 人間 ほどで、 それだけ なら ただ の 猿 なの だ が、 それ には 腕 が 四本 生え て い た。その ため、 回避 し 続ける のも それなり に 忙しい の だ が、 動き は 単純 だ。 敵 の 動き を 摑 ん だ ところ で 夜霧 は 逆襲 に 転じ た。 　 刀 を、 死線 に 沿っ て 振っ た の だ。 その 先 には 必ず 敵 が い て、 結果 カウンター が 決まる。 　 さすが に 夜霧 の 技量 では、 強化 さ れ て いる 刀 を もっ て し ても 一撃 で 仕留める こと は でき なかっ た。 だが、 それでも 知 千 佳 に ならっ た 即席 の 剣術 は それなり の 威力 を 発揮 し て いる。 　 何度 か そんな こと を 繰り返し、 敵 が 消耗 し て 動き を 止め た ところ で、 止め を 刺し た。 「それなり って 感じ だ ね」 　 とは、 鳳 春 人 の 評 だ。 夜霧 自身 は 中 々 うまく やれ た のでは ない かと 思っ て いる が、 それなり には 違い ない だろ う。

「なん な ん だ 君 は。 動き を 見る 限り は 素人 も いい ところ なのに 敵 の 攻撃 は 危なげなく 避ける し、 剣術 も たいした こと は ない のに 確実 に 当て て、 終始 冷静 で 焦る こと も なく 止め を 刺す って……」 　 デイヴィッド は 呆気 に 取ら れ た 様子 だっ た。 剣術 を やっ て いる 者 が 見れ ば その よう な 評価 なの だろ う。
