  7. A.L.I.C.E. was squishy. Literally. Some of the androids around had fully metal bodies, true machines, but she? A.L.I.C.E. still had some organic parts though not in mint condition, nor their original packaging. For example, most of her brain was still there in her cranium, cradled on soft padding, floating in a solution of artificial Spinal fluid. She liked her brain. She wanted it to stay safe, even as her life got more dangerous.
  8.
  9. Her organic parts, she was slowly starting to realize, could have a strength all their own. She still had the capacity for Ki! She was only just starting to realize how much she had been instinctively using it to control and interface with her cybernetics. And it was strong. Strong from years of constant, if mild use. Extremely controlled. Precise. She liked to imagine that even some old masters out there didn't have the precision she did with it.
  10.
  11. Not only that, but now that she was starting to become more aware of it, she found she could strengthen it with her cybernetics, in a sort of feedback loop. That strength, with that precision... surely she could do something to solve her problem?
  12.
  13. A shield is what came to mind. Like the old vids she watched about spaceships and alien warriors. A shield around her body, built of Ki, maintained by her will, strengthened with precision is response to attacks. It'd be like the shroud of Ki she was surrounded in when she overclocked herself, but... harder.
  14.
  15. And so another month, now spent practicing this new technique. Tweaking, pushing herself, getting the most mileage she could out of the idea. She was going to be ready when the expedition started, and she'd keep herself safe too. After all, how could she help anyone if she were dead?
