- business owners will exhaust all economic alternatives before hiring more people
- @GenghisKhan
- and honestly, in a free enough market, supply slack shouldn't be a long term problem
- as if there is actual consumer demand business will rise up to exploit that demand. it's much harder to do the reverse which is get people to consume more when they don't have the means to
- @xsnlx
- sexbee, lol
- +dragoon
- If the business is large enough, they'll manipulate the government to reduce market forces.
- @GenghisKhan
- it wasn't until after stagflation that conservatives really took hold
- which was reagan who mastered that
- @xsnlx
- dragoon, reduce market forces, or to legislate them into their control/advantage?
- @GenghisKhan
- stagflation hit classic keynsian economics at its core and gave conservatives like reagan an opening to attack monetary policy; at the same time they attacked other foundations of sound government
- for the middle class the 60s were not a bad time
- +dragoon
- xsnlx: Both.
- xsnlx: For example, a business owner, Robert Mercer, is currently paying some of Donald Trump's legal fees -- as a result of their collusion with Russia -- to defend his business interests.
- It's bad for almost every human on Earth, but great for Robert Mercer, business owner.
- @GenghisKhan
- brad70: that's the general election; participate earlier
- you think the # of people who vote in the general is pathetic; look at how many vote in the primaries etc
- and that's where you pick the damn candidates!

- and ya there are referendums and other stuff you can exploit if your represenatives aren't doing what u want and seem too established
- @xsnlx
- brad70, unfortunately, you're part of the problem...undying devotion to GOP and tickle down
- +dragoon
- xsnlx: brad70 is a factionalist in the sense of Federalist 9 and 10.
- @GenghisKhan
- ranked choice and similar are also unconstitutional for federal elections cuz of one man one vote

- brad70 reject the entire Enlightenment project and all its derivative schools of though, e.g. science.
- @GenghisKhan
- 15 years ago is when they really started to become terrible tho
- @xsnlx
- brad70, sorry to hear that Brad, I hope you get better soon
- +dragoon
- Using tools from Enlightenment schools -- evidence, reason, calm -- towards somebody who rejects the foundations of your school is senseless.
- @GenghisKhan
- that's when bush is selling lies to get us into iraq ffs

- The goals of the Enlightenment are to accurately assess reality.
- brad70 is not a member of modernity. Accept this reality.
- Yes, he wants to help autocrats get elected that will make his life worse. Yes, that is foolish.
- That's how his brain works.
- @GenghisKhan
- unless one wishes to burn it all down i can't see why you would vote gop
- +dragoon
- You have to understand that a large portion of our species exists persistently in the intersubjective realities they're born into.
- They don't have contact with reality in the same way that somebody familiar with anthropology and human cultural variation does.
- While brad70 and other members of the post-truth movement do better under a liberal regime, that is not how they assess reality.
- Inspecting charts, computing numbers, etc.
