- Months had gone by. The trauma suffered seemed to be nothing more than a forgotten memory now. And yet, it is still there. She could not look at the colour red without her stomach churning. She felt sick, unable to think. The world around her was so vivid, so detailed. Part of her wondered about the truth of it all. About her truth.
- What if it's all real?
- Katiel did not know, could not think about it. No, the world was horrible, awful. It couldn't be real. In a world like this, what is the point in living? Is it just surviving? Could one ever be truly alive within the colourless world? She shivered. A cold win brushed by her skin, though others would simply feel a mild breeze. She covers herself up tighter in the blanket, refusing to allow illusionary cold to ruin her day.
- Past the cobblestone she slowly walked - A blank face, cold eyes. Where had the rainbow gone?
- (Katiel Melym)
- A trip taken on a whim, attempts to clear his head. It was finally time to make well on promises extended once upon a time. He would journey to Danarium, in the presence of those drones that his mother would have left to him. Skeletal figures to parade him, garbed; hidden well from sight in hooded brown travelling cloaks.
- They ferry the young Melym across the Sarab in silence, there was to be no curiosity from them. The faint hymns of depravity to leak, minuscule when not in the presence of their true master. It was the perfect ruse for the child who sought to travel in solitude. Reading along the way, anticipation to grip him.
- What would he find in his old home? His sisters had reached to him many time before, and he had always denied it, until now. He was lost, struck with grief, and unable to forgive himself for his impotence. The child sought distance from friends, from teachers, and most of all.. from Plum. The malpercian the source of his worries, he knew why now, yet it only served to have him sink deeper into the pits of embarrassment.
- Arriving mid-day. Plagued by such ideas, and feelings, the order to hide was given. Concealed amidst the trees, those decrepit bones would wait for his summoning, to pick up their charge upon departures, but to rest for now. Sockets dim, the hollow glow found in them to diminish.
- Through the streets, to the tower. Seen from up close, it had been so long. The Rose Court plaza was observed, a dour expression worn. He wondered where they could be; reminded of the times spent here, of Katiel's interest in flowers, his own fear apparent at the time.
- The talks with the elderly man, and tears to follow as he was struck lightly in the presence of his dear sister, Zaphkiel. It brings a smile to his face, as stands there; green coat, white under shirt, hair a bit of a mess, but that was normal, and with out Plum to fix it, he would hear no scruff about it!
- (Sauriel Melym)
- A voice, soft and sweet could be heard, accompanied by the melodic and rich sound of a lute. It was Marciel Melym, wandering about the streets of Danarium, still spreading the news that people were fighting back against Belial's followers -- that those who opposed the Moon Cult's ways should stand up and fight! But where was the girl? She had just turned the corner, skipping merrily as she sang. That Sauriel might be visiting, the idea didn't even cross her mind as the bubbly little girl moved closer and closer to her siblings.
- As she moved closer, the words to her song would suddenly become clear. It was one that Katiel perhaps had already heard countless times before.
- "...Belial and his followers are a scourge
- One which the righteous must surely purge!
- A god who demands human sacrifice,
- Is no god at all, but a demon of vice.
- Said she, 'Fear not the coming darkness,
- Or those who slur righteousness.
- The dawn will rise, wiping away
- Belial's scourge; wickedness
- Wiped away by the dawning rays...' "
- Finally, the girl breached the distance between herself and Sauriel - though it was clear from her behaviour that the girl realised not who he was, at least initially.
- "S-Sauriel?" Marciel suddenly stuttered, her playing stopping abruptly as her hands abandoned her lute (to dangle from its embroidered sash), and the little girl instead moved to embrace her dear sibling. "You've come home!"
- (Marciel Melym
- It wasn't quite what one would have expected to see along the streets of Danarium. Kin - Of the same line no less. Her brother to stand before her, Katiel to show a semblance of surprise within her cold stare. She hadn't seen him in some time, not since witnessing that horrible chanting. Such enthusiasm as he watched prisoners being slaughtered, and the chaos of the battlefield.
- "..Sauriel.." Katiel speaks in a hushed tone. Her voice little more than a whisper as she speaks. ".. You have left cult?.." She thinks on this. His letter suggested she wouldn't see him for years possibly. Was the letter simply a diversion for anyone keeping an eye on him? Yes, that made sense. It made more sense than potential girl problems.
- ".. Yes.. You have come back.. Father will keep safe.." She informs Sauriel - Moving to stare at her excited sister with the lightest hint of annoyance. Those songs Marciel sings - About a vandal who she perceives to be some form of hero - It was all so pointless in her mind. So very pointless in the end. She turns back to him, blinking twice.
- "To home.. father would be.. exicted.."
- (Katiel Melym)
- Before his search could truly begin.. He had been found! The songs of Marciel are heard in the distance, to earn his attent. The boy to shift his gaze in her direction, as she walks towards him - stopped abruptly, questioning whether it was him. He gives a smile, a meek little thing, the very end of lips curved to accommodate the emotions boiling at the surface.
- When she comes to embrace him, to meet it with a fervor to match. Despite this, to remain rigid, his body cold, the aura to creep from him now. "I'm visiting." He wasn't staying. As much as it would pain him to tell them this, to have let the lie live a little longer; he couldn't. "I've been distracted. I wanted to see you guys, and forget about things for a bit."
- Katiel joining them, he couldn't answer her questions. If one would look at his tongue, the symbol of Belial to burn brightly, engraved upon him. The lunar mana fueling him, guiding his every movement, empowering him at each step of the way; he would not abandon his adopted God. "It's good to see you both, Kati, Marci; I've missed you."
- Turning from the subject, shifting to pleasantries. "Is father around?" The man in-question mentioned. How he would like to see him, the dad abandoned in pursuit of his mother. He had given up one joy with a bitterness, to chase after another, the dark to be his only companion on such a journey. "I'd like to see him if he is."
- (Sauriel Melym)
- Little doll-like Marciel Melym stared sadly at her brother, pulling back ever so slightly from him to stare at his face. A delicate hand reached out and attempted to tilt her brother's face towards her, her doe eyes gazing deeply into Sauriel's own if he would look her way. "I.. I see." She finally said, her soft voice barely more than a whisper. It was plain that Sauriel's admission that he was only visiting hurt her, and furthermore, it was plain that the girl wanted her brother to know it!
- But she would say no more. Say no more about how much she hated that cult he was involved with. Say no more about being worried about him being all involved with bad guys. Say no more about the fear that she had that something bad was going to happen to her brother, so dear and precious to her. How silly of her to think things would change. The girl's eyes narrowed slightly as she saw the blue glow at his tongue. It reminded her that as long as that cult existed, her brother was going to be as good as a slave to that demon and his minions. Oh, she wanted to say so many things, but instead Marciel just said, "I've missed you too." Which was the truth.
- The girl brightened up at the mention of their father. Perhaps seeing Papa would change things. Perhaps Papa would be able to convince Sauriel to stay. If not forever, but for just a bit longer.. Marciel was convinced that if she had enough time, she could convince her brother to abandon the cult. But she wasn't certain where their father dearest was! He was so terribly busy. "Um.. I don't know if he is in Danarium at the moment, Sauriel.. you know how busy Papa is." The girl blinked.
- "Are you in trouble? Is that why you need Papa? Maybe Katiel and I can help you.. I mean, I've been training a lot and I'm pretty strong now. I- I might be able to help.."
- (Marciel Melym)
- Katiel lets out a groaned sigh through her nostrils. Sauriel still indeded on staying with the cult, to chant as he watched people being killed. Could she blame him? Every family needs its own black sheep in the end. Her arms fold, and for once emotion is clearly visible upon her visage.
- Spite.
- "Papa's not here.. Not know where.." Her eyes flicker onto Marciel, the slightest of jealousy forming within the pit of her stomach. One good thing may have come out of Sauriels visit, though. Katiel need not spend any more time seeking him out to try and convince him.
- So, at least there's that.
- "Marciel.. Sauriel not need us. Not want our help.. Just said he visiting. Of course he want see papa.." If she were to believe any of this real, she may have just rolled her eyes. It's clear Katiel is a little hurt. What with her arms folded and her eyes giving a stare of ire.
- But who could blame her? Months spent worried, unsure of anything is real. People simply ignoring her comments about the world being a dream. As though they knew it was. And they simply wanted to keep her locked up in it. Efforts gone to waste in the end.
- "Sauriel.. What cult like? When not.. festival?" Her features lighten up. An aura of curiosity felt, yet not seen. The mark was already on her tongue, the symbol that forever ties her to those people. "Do always kill people?"
- (Katiel Melym)
- Meeting the gaze of his wonderfully boisterous sister, Marciel's eyes spread so wide for him to see. She was hurt, this he knew. He felt bad for that, but there were things he had already said he do - he wouldn't go back on such words now.
- "I didn't come to see Father, no. I was just asking." Giving a shake of his head, a little poke of flab on the young Melym girl's waist! He'd rather her smile than frown at him. He was a bad brother, he wouldn't dare deny it, but he did love them. He wished to spend time with them, the little time he was afforded, catching up, forgetting the dark, and gritty tales. His worship surely had frightened them both, and this was something he didn't want to speak on in-depth.
- "There isn't much to say, Kati. Freedom is the goal; power over your actions, no one to decide you - that's what Belial means to people." Giving this little excerpt, his take on it all. He wasn't brainwashed, he didn't give himself needlessly. To seek his mother's approval, this above anything, the cult was a side-occurrence, one that had taken him by surprise.
- "Let's talk about something else though. What have you been up too, the both of you?" Looking from either one now, a smile there, some life returned to his eyes, some happiness he had forgotten. He wanted them to share, he wanted to hear their lives. So eager were they both to help him, albiet miffed at his refusal to stay, apparent on faces, and through words.
- "I want to make happy moments of our time together. We have very little of it you know."
- (Sauriel Melym)
- Yeah... no.
- "Don't do that." Looking to Katiel, he had noticed her weird speaking habits; expanded upon by Marci. There were other things he wanted to ask about, like that tone taken when talking about this Sebastian.. hm. That had to wait though, his sibling distraught, lost, expecting answers in all the wrong places.
- "Stay with Marci, and Zaph, and Father. Belial's light won't help you." Harsh words, spoken with a soft expression, those sapphire orbs to focus on Katiel, trembling, he wanted for her to hear him now. There was a mistake made that day, when she was allowed entry. The one he thought to be open to anything had been shattered, the time of their adolescence was passed, and she had been damaged. She needed help.
- "This is why Mother only took me.. She didn't want you to be exposed to such things." A lie. The truth was known, but there was no place for that now; he needed to stretch things, he need to convince her of another option. He would use his mother, the one he knew, the one the others barely knew to his advantage in this situation.
- "Stay here, with everyone else. You don't want mother to worry, right?"
- (Sauriel Melym)
- His intentions were honest, even if his methods were not. To utilize information, to have her veer from the subject of Belial. In truth, it wasn't a place for those possessed of a weak mind. The likely sacrifices; a fate already designed for Katiel it would seem. He would wish for nothing more than to have this avoided, Marciel taking action, her words hurt.
- She was angry, at a lot of things. Some to pertain to the cult, some to pertain to his refusal to return, both connected in a way. "Mother isn't bad..." She wasn't, not to him. The woman who had taken him in, taught him, helped him grow from the frightened child he was into the boy he would be now. She was amazing in his eyes, doing what no other could, effectively transforming him in the brief moments they spent together.
- "She did what she thought best. I am happy she came, if only because I have spent time with her.. I wish she could see you too, but there are.. complications." Those to be of gender, his mother was not as he attempted to paint her. She was driven, goal oriented; daughters did not fit into what she needed, and so they were abandoned.
- "She told me though, one day she will meet you. All of you. She is sorry, but she can not do this now." He didn't like lying, especially to those he loved, but he didn't want a bad image painted of the woman to have nurtured him these past few years. "Don't think badly of her.. It's not her fault."
- (Sauriel Melym)
