  2. You may already know that I am making a game.

  4. I would like to make a post to info you all about what type of game this is going to be and my plans for the game's future.

  22. So it did start when I was around the game of 13 or 14. I was playing some games and later in time, I found myself downloading, and copying the game's data from the ps2 over to the PC including some software mainly to see how the developers worked on the game. I also went ahead and changed a few things such as colors of textures, and imported some custom ones that I had made in paint.

  24. Once I realized that I was really into it I thought to myself that I want to become a game developer, maybe not for triple-a (AAA) titles, but just making my own game.

Then recently (roughly a month ago from making this post) I played an open-world survival game and said to the stream that I think I can do it better, so that's the moment that pushed me because I thought of it at night, I said to my self that it was kinda rude but I was still thinking that I could do it better so the next day I started a simple project on unreal engine 5.0.1

  28. What my goal is with this game?

  30. So far the game has no big plans, since I've been developing this game for like a month now, I have some concept ideas and such, but nothing is really planned out yet.
  31. What I do want to happen to the game is to achieve a big group of gamers enjoying my game and the story it brings.

  35. The story of the game.

  37. What I have so far regarding the story is that the game and most/some locations will be inspired by true world locations and that the story is also inspired by true events.
  38. This means that something happened in the world somewhere and I took my inspiration from that event, situation, and/or location.

  40. Since the Corona Virus had and still has a big impact on the world and the economy I decided to implement my version of it.
  41. I also researched a lot of the covid-19 and the story of Pripyat.
  42. Pripyat is a real-world location between Russia and Ukraine, it's basically a nuclear power plant explosion that caused a lot of radiation which is the reason why it's called a ghost town or the abandoned town.

This inspired a story for me., so for now I have basically some key points and not really a story, It's that the covid-19 was happening globally however, the nuclear explosion caused a lot of radiation around the area. The radiation has been mixed with Covid-19. which caused death, but the ones that died started to turn into a zombie and comes for flesh.

  51. Since I am using unreal engine 5 and I will keep updating the engine in time I should be able to make this game Triple-A (AAA) quality.
  52. This means that the game will include real-time Ray-Tracing, Global Illumination, Reflection, Etc.

  54. The game already looks really good, while optimized. Yes, I actually take my time and optimize the game whenever I can. Usually, optimization is taking place when the game is golden (ready to launch) however since I'm not a big group I take my time and implement it whenever I can.
  55. For example, when I add a building, I finish up that building and start optimizing the building and the textures used for it.

  62. I want this game to be available exclusively on the Steam store.
  63. I do have plans to port it over to next-gen consoles such as the PS5 and the Xbox series X.

  65. I have also plans for VR, but even though I have built this game while having the consoles and VR in mind, it looks like VR will be scratched from the list since it cannot handle the power of this game.
  66. Like seriously this game's map that comes with the launch (DLC 0) is so big., that a PC can handle it fine (even my wife's work laptop) however, VR just simply doesn't like the game.
  67. So I will keep on trying, but if I end up removing VR from my list, then I will make another game exclusively for VR!
